Anti-Tea Party Susan Roesgen out at CNN.

You may remember Susan Roesgen as the woman who rather notoriously played the role of Obama stimulus apologist while carrying a CNN microphone at the April 15th Chicago Tea Party (she was also the subject of some now-vanished Jon Stewart scorn over her coverage of a Fargo flood, but that’s a different story).  Well, it seems that she’s become an unemployment statistic:

Breaking: TVNewser has learned CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen’s contract will not be renewed and she will be leaving the network.

[snip]

When TVNewser asked whether Roesgen’s comments at the Chicago tea party rally had anything to do with her not being renewed, a CNN spokesperson said, “I can’t comment on personnel matters.”

In other words, Roesgen’s comments at the Chicago Tea Party had something to do with her not being renewed. See also Ed Driscoll, who revisited Ms. Roesgen’s adventures in advocacy in his report on the July Tea Parties; Founding Bloggers, who had the video that CNN rather badly wanted to go away; and Hot Air, which is openly wondering when MSNBC will offer her a job. Given the way that the two networks are hacking each other into bloody gobbets to claim the #2 spot in cable news, they may have already.

I don’t know who gets to keep this (metaphorical) scalp; but I think that the Tea Party movement can certainly claim it.

I think I saw Roesgen last week on a CBS report from the west coast.

Not that I was “watching” CBS News. The TV was on and I happened to be in the same room.

I fired CBS as a dispenser of news 5 years ago. Rathergate was the last straw.

Not a sudden concern for objectivity at CNN

I think it’s likely that Roesgen’s performance in the tea party report was the reason for her dismissal, but not because management thought her bias was excessive even by CNN standards. After all, Anderson Cooper’s smirking about teabaggers sure didn’t pose any threat to his position as airhead anchor.

A more likely cause for Roesgen’s fall from favor was that she allowed herself to get flustered in the encounter, making herself look stupid. If she had done her job “right”, making the protesters look like the stupid ones, she would probably still have her CNN job (and maybe a raise).

Like you said, there's always MSNBC

which makes CNN look conservative by comparison.

I predict that

the people’s fury will destroy all these socialist networks until only Fox News remains. This is just the first step.

His one on one lovefeast with BO last year was that final straw in my tolurating the wifes choice in news, now its Fox or whatever is on TLC, I simply will not watch that station, in fact I complained about it being on in the waiting room at the hospital today, which went over like a brick through the front window I can tell you.

It's Not That She Was Biased ...

Swamp_Yankee Thursday, July 16th at 10:18PM EDT (link)

… it was because her bias was so obvious that she blew CNN’s cover as an objective news network for all the dimwits who need obvious rank bias to see it.

This news brightened may day.

Too bad that there's no significance to this

in the larger scheme of things. She may not be reporting on CNN, but in fact NOBODY on any of the networks covered the July 4 tea parties, even though some of them drew larger crowds than the tax day events.

Fox News barely mentioned their existence, so the Alphabets didn’t even bother to send stringers. It only took them one try to figure out that if they didn’t cover them, they might as well be happening on the moon.

If it is big enough someone will be forced to cover it.
