Maybe Deeds could try to hit McDonnell with his car?

Ha! Got it right this time. Anyway, this video from the VA GOP:

…is a nice supplement to this WaPo article (via Jim Newell, who seems a bit bitter):

Democratic gubernatorial candidate R. Creigh Deeds is running behind his Republican opponent in a recent Washington Post poll in large part because he has yet to win over voters in populous, Democratic-leaning Northern Virginia.

[snip]

In the Washington Post poll, Deeds had his best showing among suburban Washington voters, running about evenly with McDonnell, who is a native of Fairfax County.

Bolding mine, and let me translate what that means for the Deeds campaign if that’s not fixed:

DOOM.

a nuanced statement. Northern Virginia is how the Dems have taken this state. If they are not enthusiastic for their candidate, it will cost them. I’m hoping the Dems are going to be running from Obama’s coattails this November. I’ll be knocking on doors for McDonnell tomorrow in the Tidewater area.

Moe, I hope your predictions turn out to be as good as your RS work.

I’m curious to know if the Dems are poised to get creamed all the way down the ballot in VA.

    Anyone know?

the Lt. Governor’s race and Attorney General are looking good for us.

There are 3 Republicans in good position for local Supervisors races.

On the VA House level – Delegate Mark Cole (R) does not have any opposition this election. Two years ago, the Democrats threw everything they had against him and he still won handily. YaY Mark. :)

Speaker of the House Bill Howell (also from Stafford) does not have a Democrat opponent, just the same guy that runs against him (and others) every election.

There are 20 House Republicans running unopposed across the state. Which, I believe, is much better than in 2007.

We have an enthusiastic base. Deeds’ base is very meh on his candidacy. Democrats can’t just show up to vote for their legislative candidates and not vote for governor, just like the Repubilcans cant just show up and vote for mcdonnell and not vote for the legislative races.
