Breaking: CURRENT(?) DSCC national finance chair arrested for bank fraud.

Hassan Nemazee helped raise 115 million for the DSCC in 2006.

Hassan Nemazee was more recently a heavy donor and bundler for both the Clinton and Obama Presidential campaigns, bringing in over half a million for the new President; he was also a major bundler for the Presidential Inaugural.

NY Businessman Charged With $74 Million Bank Fraud Against Citigroup

A New York man was charged with allegedly defrauding Citigroup Inc. (C) out of $74 million in loans.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan and the Federal Bureau of Investigations say Hassan Nemazee, with residences in Manhattan and Katonah, N.Y., fraudulently applied for the loans for Nemazee Capital Corp., of which he is chairman and chief executive.

Federal prosecutors contend Nemazee obtained the money by giving the banking giant “numerous documents that purported to establish the existence of accounts in Nemazee’s name at various financial institutions containing many hundreds of millions of dollars,” the Justice Department said in a statement. “In fact, those were fraudulent and forged documents.”

And I originally had him down as ‘former’ national finance chair for the DSCC, except that I’m seeing no signs that he quit the job (screenshot here).

    In 1998, in the midst of the Lewinsky affair, Nemazee collected $60,000 for Bill Clinton’s legal defense fund in $10,000 increments from relatives and friends. Clinton subsequently nominated Nemazee as ambassador to Argentina but withdrew the nomination after an article in Forbes raised questions about Nemazee’s business dealings in the 1980s and ’90s–which noted that the American-born Nemazee magically became “Hispanic” by acquiring Venezuelan citizenship because of a requirement that certain California public pension funds be run by minorities.

    In an interview with the New York Times on the implications of the Hsu affair, Nemazee, who describes himself as an economic policy adviser to Hillary but was identified by the Times as a “fundraising bundler for Mrs. Clinton, as Mr. Hsu had been,” declared, “The Clinton campaign has done as much if not more than any campaign to protect itself from situations such as this, and none of the other campaigns, other than hypocritically, can point a finger at the Clinton campaign on fundraising problems.”

    Which is worse?

    1.) DSCC finance chair gets arrested for a 74 million dollar heist perpetrated against the Poster Child TARP Bank, or
    2.) One of the biggest fundraisers for Democrats is the head of IAPAC?

    Hassan Nemazee will spill his guts, or they might end up on the floor in some jail – this guy will be the scapegoat for Obama’s suspect fundraising activity. Obama will deny any knowledge after taking all the money that Hassan Nemazee has given him & Hillary. Interesting that the arrest comes while Obama is on “vacation”…..

    Hillary, Bill, Obama & Kerry will have some explaining to do.

    Just a little Western Nebraska thinking how how the sows eat their own and didn’t cluckie schummmmer head up the Democratic Senate Election Party the last 4 years. Why I just bet cluckie schummmmmmmmer was on a first name basis with Hassan. I wonder if cluckie schummmmmmmmer got any money from Hassan to push his foney fraudulent elections of illegimate Senators?????

    The feds caught him at the airport on his way to Rome.
    Once confronted he paid back the $74 Million Loan which was obtained through fraud. I wonder how many other loans he had?
    Still he can go to jail for up yo 30 years…..
    Bets on if he serves anytime?
    At the rate he is going he will be able to run for Congress, write a book and still be able to raise billions for Obama.
