Two Americas Watch: Antonio Villaraigosa (D).

(Via Deceiver) There’s the America where Los Angeles is in the middle of an ongoing drought, and is thus subject to strong water restrictions – which are being pushed by its mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa (D). Then there’s the America where the mayor of Los Angeles was – illegally – watering his own lawn while everybody else’s was dying. And how does he explain this discrepancy? Heavy sleeping.

No, really, that’s what Villaraigosa said.

“The sprinklers are so loud in your back yard, you can hear them from the street. How could you or your household staff not have heard them?” [NBC4's Joel] Grover said.

“I sleep very heavily and I couldn’t hear it,” said Villaraigosa, who noted that overall water use at his home has decreased.

On the one hand, this doesn’t explain all the other government agencies in Los Angeles ignoring the water restrictions that they’re enforcing on the population; on the other hand, it doesn’t really explain this one, either. On the gripping hand, the actual answer – that this is what happens when you let one political party run things unopposed for too long – is probably not a welcome observation to too many people involved.

Still true, though.

It’s just so wrong to vilify the man over this seeming double standard. I mean, it’s not like Hizzoner is serving as the sworn mayor of an American city while having serious ties to a seditionist group like MEChA that wants to give the American Southwest to Mexico. Or anything.

Wait… what? He is? He does? Gee, he seemed like such a nice man.

    1. Stop illegal immigraiton
    2. Deport all illegals

Will not only save water but reduce CO2 emissions as millions of consumers leave CA.

    Never happen though.

    via south-central….

they don’t need water for their lawns anymore, because the sprinklers have been torn out and replaced with 8 foot wrought-iron fences with spikes and barbed -wire..

and you might be able to see the grass, if it wasn’t for the Clunkers parked on it…..hey…..I thought they took care of that…

The Dems don’t have to abide by the laws that they make. Only the law abiding citizens do.

…after all, he just stood up to the almighty CA Teacher’s Union for the first time in the history of the CA Democrat Party by placing over 200 underperforming LAUSD schools under the control of private charter. Sorta makes me wonder why Vilar was virtually ignored for all those years by the MSM when he was guilty of far worse offenses such as selling his soul to Public Employee Unions, providing mayoral protection to gangs and illegal aliens, and using predatory taxes to declare citywide war on private industry jobs.

Hollywood via South Central? You must have had guests from out-of-town to go on that safari.

And you must be feeling smug since your lawn guy can walk on water restrictions.

    From Wikipedia:

After UCLA, Villaraigosa attended the People’s College of Law (PCL), an unaccredited law school in Los Angeles. Villaraigosa failed the California Bar Exam four times and is not licensed to practice law. [7]

After PCL, he became a field representative/organizer with the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA). He later served as President of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and the American Federation of Government Employees.[8]

    [edit] Personal life

Villaraigosa has two daughters, Marisela Villar and Prisila Villar-Contreras, born of a previous, nonmarital relationship.[9]

As Antonio Villar, he married Corina Raigosa November 28, 1987[10] and adopted a combination of their last names as his family name. The couple have two teenage children, Natalia and Antonio Jr. In the wake of extensive media coverage of his alleged affair with a political reporter, Mirthala Salinas, Villaraigosa announced that he was separating from his wife., and on June 12, 2007, Corina Villaraigosa filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. Villaraigosa acknowledged on July 3, 2007, that he was in a relationship with a Spanish-language television reporter, Mirthala Salinas.[11][12]

In a New Yorker profile published shortly before the divorce, Villaraigosa acknowledged that he and Corina had had difficulties over the course of their marriage. ?In a twenty-year marriage, there are many ups and downs,” Villaraigosa said.”[2] The New Yorker also reported that in 1994, while Corina was undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer, Villaraigosa was involved with a friend’s wife, and Corina filed for divorce at that time.[9]<[2] The couple reconciled two years later.[2] The New Yorker magazine reported that Villaraigosa’s actions had infuriated colleagues who had helped portray him as a family man and lost him key supporters.[2][9]

Villaraigosa began a relationship with Lu Parker, a local television news anchor and 1994 Miss USA, in March 2009.[13]

    Perfect Debtocrat socialist radical.

    America the ?

America officially ceased to exist after the elections in 2006. The state run media successfully detached the public from the reality of the truth. They created an alternate universe with their reporting. It bears NO resemblance to the world you and I live in. This worked and is in place today. The largest collection of fiction and fabrication appears every day in print, electronic and broadcast media across the nation. Combine these with the indoctrination camps called public schools and higher education. And, you have a sizable portion of the population that spouts and is saturated with endless mythologies. The crap they sincerely hallucinate is mind-boggling. Like I said, though, it works. You can’t deny that.

Here we are in the summer of ’09. What a long, downhill slog it’s been. A frightening acceleration has occurred since January 20, 2009. Black Tuesday. The beginning of the end. The journey into a thousand years of darkness. To quote a REAL American President, Ronald Reagan. We are a hairs breath from losing, irrevocably, our Liberty. Many countries have made the tremendous leap up from tyranny. We shall be the first to slide down into slavery. Incredible ! I was nine years old, but can still remember Khrushchev, the Premier of the USSR. He was at the UN, slamming his shoe on the podium and shouting, “we will bury you.. And won’t fire a shot.” Every breath since then, I have been devoted to ending all tyranny, especially Marxism. That is our duty. We must make him wrong.

Barack Obama is deliberately precipitating a civil war between his constituency and the rest of us. They have already started using force. Obama wanted to goad his adversaries to violence, but his pukes blinked first. He would use this as an excuse to clamp down hard on the public with, perhaps, military power. We didn’t bite, however. He will continue to put enough pressure on us until someone strikes back. Then, all hell will break loose. Never before has “our leader” considered most of We the People as enemies of the state. Obama’s actual plans are probably far worse than we suspect.

Obama has declared war on us: in every since of that term. What can we expect ? Use your imagination. Obama is an authoritarian, a statist and a Marxist. A quick look at history shows they can’t consolidate their power without vast destruction. They call it revolution. It is war. Karl Marx exhorts that everything else must be destroyed. Nothing can co-exist with Marxism. Its is a revolution that converts all things into one thing. Coercion is necessary. The result: a crushing, absolute totalitarian state ruled by the “messiah”. Heaven forbid !

Takes your breath away, doesn’t it ? So, how did we get so far so fast ? Good question. Good question ! Let’s start by looking at what America was. The apex of this um, conflict is basic. It revolves around two statements: all men are created equal (from the Declaration of Independence). And e pluribus Unum (out of many – one , the National Motto). Okay: all men are created equal. Some think, mistakenly, that we are born, live and die equal. This is completely wrong. Why ? Because of the word created. We are created, start out, equal. This implies two things: first, that absolute equality is our condition at birth only. And second, that the environment of liberty provides us with the opportunity (same 24 hour day, for example) to become what we want.

Created also means we are free to change from our original state. We start here and wind up somewhere else. “The Creator” blesses us with gifts and talents. Part of life’s journey is to discover, develop and utilize these. How well we do this determines our destinies. Therefore, the crux of the argument concerns whether equality refers to opportunity or outcome.

The “outcomers” feel there should be absolute, uniform equality. They feel this is the promise or obligation liberty. Equal outcomes. This is incorrect and ignores many things. We are, primarily, individuals. Where we “end up” is a function of this: the same beginning plus our talent and character. Destinations vary considerably for many reasons. Talents are different. Character, motivation and drive are not equal. All of these distinctions provide ample causes for any variations. Before liberty, everyone’s lot in life was predetermined.

Liberty offers us a wonderful environment. Everyone is invited to the party. We are obligated to use God’s gifts and become as much as we can. You have to “put some skin in the game” to make this happen. Actually, a burning desire to succeed propels many beyond what seems possible. The main source inequality is character, not talent. Some people just work harder, longer, smarter and want it more. We owe these folks our gratitude. They provide us with jobs and numerous innovations which, in turn, help us to go further.

You see, a system that imposes equality of outcome deprives all of us of a shot at something better. You kill the goose that lays the golden egg. We always have the option to go further. Where is solely up to each one of us. Nothing is more demanding or rewarding. Any limitations are self-imposed. Why do people squander the chance to advance ? Or worse, why would anyone limit themselves ? Too many have done one or both. This hurts all of us. It is ironic that those who tell their followers, “you can’t” or “you’re inferior” call us racist ! Wow !

Liberty’s challenge is exhilarating. How far will you go ? You won’t find until you try. Obviously, there are obstacles. Life extracts its pound of flesh from all of us. But, you still define who you are. You are what you bring to the table. That’s liberty: there is always less, but never too much. Sadly, most of the people in the world don’t even know what it is. But those clamoring for “social justice” to want create a least common denominator world. One with zero opportunity to advance. With equality, a few might gain, but the overwhelming majority will be brought lower. This is flat wrong. The price of equality is two-fold. You aren’t allowed achieve your potential as an individual. Also, the door is shut to prosperity. Equality is always imposed, always coerced. They say it’s fair, but it’s degrading. Equality limits everyone. It stifles the human spirit which longs to be free. Its is a form of slavery. That’s why Liberty is vastly superior to equality.

This brings us to E pluribus Unum: out of many one. Algore, of course, got it wrong. He said, “out of one many”. That bass akwards. E pluribus – everyone came and had input. Unum – we arrived at a single system together which has been tested and works. One set of rules for everyone. No matter your background (or what you are), embrace the culture and you’re fine. Everyone that “made it” has done just that.

Conversely, the others focus solely on what. Race, gender or what ever. That’s how they define people. Not as “whos” but as “whats”. This is astoundingly narrow and ignores individuality. You are not you, but member of various groups. A stereotype and not a person. It places all the attention on differences and none on potential. Its is a form of divide and conquer. To them, what you are is more important than who you are. Before Liberty, this was all there was. That’s crazy ! Who you are is everything. In a truly free society, the what is ignored and the who is paramount. Also, their “way” has been tried and failed ad nauseum: in Russia, Germany, China. The list goes on and on.

To exist in their world, you give up all opportunity and potential. You forfeit your individuality. All you have are your group identities. You are a what and not a who. The what is the most superficial level of life. It denies your vary humanity. You are just a gender, a race and so on. An individual is vastly more than those things. Underneath those basic labels is a complex person with limitless potential. A system that overlooks this incredible potential enslaves everyone. They might as well stamp a number on you. That’s been done, and it?s a step above their world. Because of the culture of liberty, you can become a who (liberty + talent + character). Who you are is infinitely more important than what you are. It?s what’s inside of you that makes all these things possible.

So, attacks on liberty come from two directions. The social justice crowd uses “equality” to prevent any self-determination. They prefer herding everyone into the same socioeconomic level. They don’t allow people the liberty to use their talents and character to seek their own. They say this is “fair”. The other tactic uses group identity to define ‘the privileged” and “the underprivileged”. Then, they blame the system for the disparity. The same system, proven over the years, is now the problem. What they want is to destroy something that works and impose a degrading conformity on all of us. To throw the baby out with the bath water.

Here’s the problem: without individuals who strive and a system that allows them to thrive we are all slaves. Why so many want this is a mystery. Of course, they have been “taught” that America is not exceptional and is without virtue. It is the problem, not the solution. Their “teachers” have ruined their lives. These people sincerely hate this country. They deny to many others of the benefits of our principles. This is sickening. These folks fail because they don’t engage. And, then blame you and I. Truly tragic. Instead of rage and destruction, they should take some pride in themselves and try harder. They should hold themselves accountable for the outcome like we do. They don’t have a leg to stand on. Too many have made it. Many, with humbler backgrounds. Some just cop out and blame the country for their failures. Point the finger at your “problem” and three other fingers point right back at you.

Two world views on a collision course. How much longer will both camps occupy the same ground ? One will prevail. Will it be the haters and destroyers, the revenge crowd ? Or the strivers and builders, the sons of Liberty ? Liberty elevates while coercion subjugates. Its more than a war of ideas. Its the ultimate Rorschach test. Many of us look at America and see the place where all our hopes and dreams can come true. It is challenging, but it draws the best from us. There is no place like this on earth, because liberty has reigned. We transcend our beginnings and become who we can.

Others look and because of deception and denial …I shudder to think ! The Founding Fathers were very wise and had incredible vision. Their works have stood the test of time. The latest crowd of know-it-all malcontents will join all the others in the waste bin of history. You always head toward where you are looking. Its is virtually impossible to move forward when you stare into the rear view mirror. Why torture yourself so when opportunity is all around you and the path is right there before your eyes ?

    Signed
