Moveon.org zombie bites off health care protester’s finger. Wait, what?

No, really.

About 20 minutes earlier, a man on MoveOn.org’s side of the street crossed over and shouted “Why don’t you like the public option?” Several of the counter-protesters said that they don’t want the government to run everything. The MoveOn.org man got nose to nose with a short, gray-haired counter-protester, and sneered, “You’re an idiot.”

At that point, I’m told the victim either swung at or pushed his assailant’s face away with an open hand, and his finger entered his mouth.

[snip]

The MoveOn.org protester then allegedly bit off the finger up to the first knuckle, and spat it into the street where it was recovered by Bush.

(H/T) @jeffemanuel.

The Moveon.org zombie apparently then left.  At a walk.  And none of his Moveon.org colleagues stopped him.  And then they themselves later walked through the crime scene.

Again: wait, what?

    Extremists!!! Terrorists!!!!

That’s what we’d hear if the situation had been reversed. As it is, we’ll likely be subjected to media spin and it will suddenly be a right wing extremist who did the deed.

Did you also notice there was a complete lack of concern for the protester who lost a finger?

  • bk

This is the version that Drudge has linked.

About 100 protesters sponsored by MoveOn.org were having a rally supporting health care reform. A group of anti-health care reform protesters formed across the street.

A witness from the scene says a man was walking through the anti-reform group to get to the pro-reform side when he got into an altercation with the 65-year-old, who opposes health care reform.

The 65-year-old was apparently aggressive and hit the other man, who then retaliated by biting off his attacker’s pinky, according to Karoli from DrumsnWhistles.

The man took his finger and walked to Los Robles hospital for treatment.

They slipped up in the first paragraph and noted that Obama’s side was astroturfed and the other wasn’t. But note that the rest makes it sound like this poor guy happened to get in the middle of the mob, where he was attacked and exercised self defense.

Quite a different take on things, isn’t it?

  • archer52

When the left hires thugs and criminals as “organizers” you are going to get a Mike Tyson moment, at the least. I spent two decades on the street as a cop and can tell you there are people out there, some who seem to be wearing ACORN shirts, who will do you harm in a blink of an eye.

I said it was war. No rules in war, except winning.

Wonder if Obama is going to add that to his speech for the kids in school. “Now remember, not only should you work hard to make me, your dear leader, happy, you should not bite body parts of another person. Unless he’s a conservative. “

It may not be your favorite group of citizens, but MoveOn.org is a real group composed of real citizens who happen to have a perspective on politics that you presumably do not share. Just like FreedomWorks or Americans for Prosperity, there is nothing “fake” about concerned citizens showing up to voice their opinion.

What conceivable benefit do you get from comiong here and sticking up for them?

Whose side are you on anyway?

  • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

…has bitten off somebody’s finger is to complain about the use of the term ‘astroturf’ – well. That is a bit of a perspective problem, at the very least.

:holding up hand: Don’t care, sorry. Do care if you keep threadjacking, so don’t.

  • http://hillbillypolitics.com Steph C

Like biting fingers off opponents. Like calling people really nasty names unless those people agree with them. Like paying people to come protest for them…

All of which has been documented hereon this site in copious amounts.

All of which begs the question: Why are you here if you dislike us so much?

  • http://andrightlyso.com/ civil_truth

…not to the identity of the individual protestors. In particular, pretending you’ve got a grass-roots movement when the whole infrastructure has been created and funded by advocacy organizations employing paid activists to do the organizing – that’s astroturfing.

    Nice red herring there…

At the endpoint, the footsoldiers are mostly unpaid, though you still have the MoveOn employees intermixed among the protesters in charge of choreographing the protest (and damping down spontaneity that they can’t control). And having been to some of these “protests” in my reprobate days, I know how intensely the choreographing goes on – sometimes overtly, sometimes by behind the scene manipulations – by “professionals” – AKA COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS (sound familiar).

Which leads the second tier of behind the scenes money utilization, where groups like MoveOn (or union) drive protesters around in buses to the rally point, manufacture collective signs for people to pick up and carry, organize chants – and in some cases make undercover arrangements for preferred seating,

Again, if this were done openly, then it wouldn’t be astroturfing but rather organized protests. It’s the secrecy and pretending to be “grassroots” that’s the problem.

Not to mention that throughout the health care debate this summer, the Democrats have incessantly accused opponents of simply being the purchased agents of unnamed iinsurance companies with alleged undocumented funded and undocumented organizational structures – while ignoring the documented tactics of unions and groups like MoveOn to intentionally disrupt their opponents, sometimes with the connivance of the public officials who are “on their side”.

    Get it?

Health care reform means more power for the IRS

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Health-care-reform-means-more-power-for-the-IRS-56781377.html

In short, health care reform, as currently envisioned by Democratic leaders, would be built on the foundation of an expanded and more intrusive IRS.

Under the various proposals now on the table, the IRS would become the main agency for determining who has an “acceptable” health insurance plan; for finding and punishing those who don’t have such a plan; for subsidizing individual health insurance costs through the issuance of a tax credits; and for enforcing the rules on those who attempt to opt out, abuse, or game the system.

A substantial portion of H.R. 3200, the House health care bill, is devoted to amending the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 in order to give the IRS the authority to perform these new duties.
The Democrats’ plan would require all Americans to have “acceptable” insurance coverage (the legislation includes long and complex definitions of “acceptable”) and would designate the IRS as the agency charged with enforcing that requirement.

On your yearly 1040 tax return, you would be required to attest that you have “acceptable” coverage. Of course, you might be lying, or simply confused about whether or not you are covered, so the IRS would need a way to check your claim for accuracy. Under current plans, insurers would be required to submit to the IRS something like the 1099 form in which taxpayers report outside income. The IRS would then check the information it receives from the insurers against what you have submitted on your tax form.

If it all matches up, you’re fine. If it doesn’t, you will hear from the IRS. And if you don’t have “acceptable” coverage, you will be subject to substantial fines ? fines that will be administered by the IRS.

Backers of the Democratic bills are betting that the handouts involved ? giving people money to buy health insurance ? will outweigh concerns about privacy and coercive government. Perhaps. But before Congress makes any decision on national health care, voters should know just what it will involve.

  • bk

If that doesn’t mean astroturfing I don’t know what does.

I guess if a bunch of concerned union members just HAPPEN to all show up and they all just HAPPEN to wear the same t-shirt and they just HAPPEN to be carrying the same signs, it’s just a bunch of coincidences too right?

  • WarEagle01

and then mame those who disagree with them, as happened here.

  • WarEagle01

and now this horrendous maming incident, again perpetrated by a Democrat. I really wish the President would stop instigating all this violence among his people. Can’t we have a civil debate?

  • penguin2

bus fare or provided transportation, commercially made signs, mass produced manufactured tee-shirts, and I’m sure there is some walking around money in there.

Your support of Union type tactics and their efforts to deliberately disrupt regular American citizens from having their say is typical of all that is wrong with the left. I doubt that any of the groomed pro-Obama protesters would be showing up if they weren’t being paid. They aren’t there to have a discussion or even want real health care reform, they are there to bully and be enforcers for Obama and his leftists comrades. That’s what they do; nothing like a little Union organizing.

Or maybe I can gin up a spontaneous if raucous rally in front. of your house You know, concerned citizens acting freely and intimidating the hell out of women and children inside.

On Patterico, the story is that a MoveOn thug either punched or shoved his hand into the face of a anti-health care protestor and the protestor bit off the thug’s little finger.

  • rickz77

There have been numerous reports of rent-a-mob and union thugs comprising the ‘progressive’ demonstrator mobs.

Including protesters who speak no English, but carrying signs in that language — less than a block from a day-labor shape-up site.

The credibility of these rent-a-mob demonstrations is declining to that of Telemarketers.

I have checked out the story on several sites and the identity of the biter and bitee is not clear. Some sits have an anti-health care protestor biting of the finger while other sites have an MoveOn thug doing the biting. Referals to news broadcasts are not too clear and the witnesses are unidentified.

(NOTE: be sure to read about 9/11 ‘Patriot Day’ at the end of this msg)

Reasons to kill KILL BILLl are too many to enumerate, among others, here is one biggie: your healthcare will be controlled by the union thugs!

If you think them biting off 1 finger is bad, wait till the union thugs are placed in the KILL BILL system in all positions, big and small! You can wait and wait and die while they are laughing and smoking at your expenses on the other side of the phone line! I have witnessed first hand the aggressive behaviour of the moveon.org thugs – one guy placed himself between an older lady and senator Lautenberg’s rep when she was talking to the rep, nudging backward to push her out of the way! All unprovoked! Had we protested loudly (we only mumbled a little) he just might have attacked us! I guess that is obozo’s teaching: in their face!

Do you want that? NO? Then kill the KILL BILL as if your lives depend on it – your lives do depnend on it being KILLED!

Excerpts from National right to work cmte:

The biggest proponents of Obama?s health care overhaul legislation — the union bosses ? are now trying to exploit the death of their longtime ally Teddy Kennedy to force a vote as soon as possible.

Of course, we already know WHY Big Labor likes the bill so much. The ?Obamacare? legislation is absolutely chock-full of hidden giveaways to union militants. A handful of (union-label) bureaucrats would be making health care decisions for all of us . . .
It?s no wonder union thugs have been beating up Americans at town hall meetings – no one would benefit from this federal powergrab more than Big Labor.

?Obamacare? will give Big Labor control of health care (over 16% of the entire economy) forcing hundreds of thousands of Americans to pay billions into union treasuries.

The cost of health care would REALLY skyrocket when Big Labor bigwigs pad payrolls with more and more layers of support staff and medical bureaucracy — all at taxpayer expense.

And there would be special privileges for union-run insurance plans.

These are just a few of the dangerous elements of the health care bills being debated in Congress, and what will be the law of the land in a few short weeks if you and I don?t act today.

And the truth is, now with Big Labor added to the mix, it could be far WORSE than anyone is letting on.

The truth is, should Big Labor?s ?Obamacare? Bill pass, it would:

    *** Force hundreds of thousands of doctors, surgeons, nurses — and other medical professionals — under Big Labor?s thumb;

    *** Heavily tax small businesses? health care plans, while exempting Big Labor from these same taxes, corralling even more workers into forced unionism;

*** Virtually hand Big Labor direct access to taxpayer dollars as the medical boards that direct government funding will be stacked with unelected Big Labor bureaucrats.

That?s why it?s vital you act TODAY:-

Contact Snowe and Collins (make sure they don’t vote yes)!
Write/call Blue-dogs (emphasize NO PUBLIC OPTION)!
Go to townhall meetings (ASK TOUGH QUESTIONS)!
Join teapartyexpress bus or Amercan Liberty Tour
Go to tea parties (teapartypatriots has info).
    Spread the words !
    Talk to seniors.
    etc. etc.

    9/11 Patriot Day

The thugs on the left call this ‘Patriot Day’ – September 11th. We need to counter theirs with our own continuous CALLS to congress from 9/8 to 9/11!
The Astroturf(TM) -Organizer-in-Chief,Barack Obama, and his puppet master David Axelrod, are organizing a nationwide Senate call-in on that day. One dead Kennedy wasn’t enough, now Obama is using the nearly 3000 Americans who died on 9/11 to shamelessly promote his agenda. This effort is also no doubt timed to lessen the impact of the March on Washington scheduled for the very next day.

The lemmings will be calling to urge passage of the so-called “Public Option”, and will be claiming that “75% of Americans support it”. For a first-hand look at the kind of moronic drivel that appears on the President’s, er, usurper’s personal website these days, follow this link:

Self defense would mean the minimum level of violence necessary to get away.

It could be retaliation but not self defense. Neither version of events renders it acceptable or normal to BITE OFF SOMEONE’S FINGER.

Personally I think it’s much more likely that the move on.org guy got in the old man’s face and the old man tried to push him away. If he had hit the guy presumably his hand would be in a fist and moving quickly.

Also, intuitively, it just seems much more likely that the person who was capable of biting off another person’s finger, spitting it on the ground & walking away is much more likely to be the aggressor.
