The September Rasmussen Public Trust Numbers.

The Democrats may simply have to accept the fact that they no longer can automatically count on the trust of the American people on any topic.

September 2009
August 2009
Issue Dem GOP Diff Dem GOP Diff Shift
Health Care 44% 44% - 41% 44% (3) 3
Education 45% 40% 5 38% 41% (3) 8
Social Security 43% 41% 2 39% 43% (4) 6
Abortion 37% 44% (7) 36% 46% (10) 3
Economy 39% 47% (8) 40% 46% (6) (2)
Taxes 40% 48% (8) 35% 51% (16) 8
Iraq 37% 47% (10) 42% 42% - (10)
Nat’l Security 39% 51% (12) 43% 47% (4) (8)
Gov’t Ethics 34% 35% (1) 34% 31% 3 (4)
Immigration 33% 45% (12) 35% 43% (8) (4)

Seven out of ten, and one tie.  The good news for the Democrats is that they made some decent recoveries from August’s numbers; the bad news is that August was really bad for them, so they’re still trying to make up ground.  The most important/topical number there – health care – is probably their brightest spot, but being equally trusted on an issue when you’ve spent the last few years being clearly trusted is not the most welcome news in the world.  Particularly when ‘trusting the Democrat’ does not exclude ‘trusting the Democrat to vote the Republican position.’

Moving on: nice to see that the Government Ethics numbers are starting to consistently reflect objective reality, not to mention the Economy ones.  I’m interested how much of that is reflected by cap-and-trade – and how bringing that issue back will affect the Taxes question.

Three points in health care during the August recess, and five points in taxes. Also, they gained seven points in education. But the real surprise (at least for me) is taxes. Dems should never, ever be trusted with anything that has anything to do with taxes. Also, why is there a poll for Iraq, but not for Afghanistan?

The really short version is that there’s probably if not a floor, than at least a catwalk on some of these for the Democrats to bounce off of. :)

The American people have finally woken up to find that they elected (or rather enabled to steal an election from an honorable candidate) a cabal of lying communist baby murders who hate the armed forces and want to hand our country over to terrorists. The only question is what took so long?

show the full trend to now. It would be a great update to that post.

I’m a little surprised the public trust for Democrats on this issue is so low. I myself trust Democrats far more on abortion than Republicans.

I have complete, total trust, and abolute assurance, that the Democrats will remain, now and for all time, stridently, shamelessly, mercilessly, arrogantly, unconscionably, and disgracefully pro-abortion. I have total trust that they will support it at any time, for any reason, with no exceptions whatsoever. I trust that they will support any and all public and private-sector policies that will promote abortion, and will to their last breath fight against any measure which ever so slightly might lead to a reduction in abortions. Moreover, I have complete trust that no Catholic Democratic politician will, at any time, let his religious faith taint to the slightest degree his support for legalized abortion.

Here’s the Public Trust numbers since Jan ’09 in charts and graphed out linearly like.

As always, only download from sources you trust and use your internet security software to the fullest extent.

    Savvy?

Look at the bottom dropping out on Iraq and National Security. Immigration, too.

Moe, as I noted last time you posted these, note that the Dems’ number on ethics has always been low. The variations are on the GOP side. The default view of the voters is that of course the Ds are crooks, but the Rs *shouldn’t* be crooks but are. Our path back on that issue is restoring trust in our guys.

PLEASE lets stop this before he actually gets removed from office for ANY reason

    Can you say President Biden

    God forbid

I’ve noticed since Moe started posting these that these numbers jump around quite a bit from month-to-month.

    I don’t think they’re very reliable for month-to-month comparisons.

As others have said, I think they’re more useful in looking at 6-month or 1-year trends…

Obama has been on vacation for the last two weeks, so he hasn’t been speaking in public.

  • The_Gadfly

    President Pelosi? President H. Clinton?

There are layers and layers of bad choices in power.

Are most people getting to where they completely tune him out because they have learned not to trust anything he claims? (I’m not counting the ones who are raptured by him, just ‘normal’ people.)

It’s funny how you continue to use Rasmussen even though it’s been debunked as a conservative-leaning poll. Maybe you should realize how the scare tactics and hyperbole does not resonate with the majority of Americans, probably because we are clear thinkers who believe in improving people’s lives rather than controlling us: remember the Patriot Act? Remember “for us or against us?”
As for death panels, I believe Mr. Bush originated then by creating a conflict we had no business in, invading a soverign state and conspiring to murder a head of state. It does not matter how Saddam Hussein ruled his country; being involved in his execution clearly proves conspiracy.

As for Rasmussen, who has debunked it? The same folks who debunked Zogby and Gallup as left-leaning pollsters? The fact is that Rasmussen has been more consistently correct than any of the other polls mentioned, including the last election and the one before that.

As for what does or does not resonate with the American people, it’s pretty obvious that the majority of them see the dangers in Obama’s vision for them which ALL about control. Control of how they live, what they drive, what they eat, how they raise their children, their health care and their end of life issues. Which doesn’t even cover whether or not they get to keep their guns, whether or not they can be Christians in public and whether or not they are still guaranteed the right to freedom of speech, given that every word uttered against Obama’s agenda for us gets us called racists for no reason whatsoever.

Your stupid comment trying to link George Bush and “death panels” with Iraq was truly demented. I don’t recall, as well, that we were the ones who hung Saddam Hussein. Far as I can remember, his own did that to him after trying him and finding him guilty. That you can still defend someone like Hussein says volumes about your own lack of character and the pitiful paucity of thinking/reasoning ability.
