FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

I believe that the technical term for this is ‘tagging.’

My congratulations to the Left: you’ve given the Right a taste for guerrilla art.

That’s on the specially-treated against graffiti wall of Shepard Fairey, who is of course best known for ripping off an AP photo to create the most iconic political image of 2008 – and the most ironic one of 2009 (not to mention, one of the most parodied). For extra humor, Fairey likes to do precisely this kind of guerrilla art himself… and he’s probably swearing at Big Government‘s Best. Weblaunch. EVAR. right now anyway, which is a definite bonus.

Moving back to the main point, there’s at least one other tagging example (see BG’s link above for it); my guess is that they’re using a stencil and some spray paint. As a law-abiding Republican I of course heartily wave smy finger* in the direction of whoever is doing such naughty things – bad street artists! Bad! No biscuit! – and I am explicitly shaking my head and intoning that this sort of thing not be duplicated…

*Admittedly, I know that I’ll get it back: wait, no, that’s MoveOn.org. Ach, well, these people all live in each others’ back pockets anyway.

Strange how the mind fills in a thought. Maybe not far off the mark, after all, we are using the Left’s own tactics against them and I’m wondering why we didn’t do it sooner. Must be an acquired taste, but once there…

  • DontBanMeBro

Republican-leaning taggers target famous graffiti artist who had his building specially treated to protect against graffiti?

    Hilarious.

  • cumlaude

i have seen all week – thanks for posting it!

  • E Pluribus Unum

And it’s alot more amusing than slashing tires, throwing rocks thru windows and other stuff routinely done by the leftists.

At least according to Washington’s Jay Inslee.

Anyone still posting over at Little Green Footballs willing to ask Charles why my account is blocked there? I was blocked earlier this week without making any comments and/or receiving an email telling me why. It’s kind of hard to contact a blogger when he takes down his contact form and doesn’t post a contact email etc… and doesn’t answer the (non-bounced) email from a years ago etc…

If it’s just a technical issue I understand, if it’s for down dinging a topic then i.m.o. he’s finally and fully jumped the shark.

    Thanks,

LGF is busy alienating apparently everyone.

Which for me started with D.C. and includes simply the most astonishing website launch I’ve ever seen for sure.

I thought it looked like a stencil and spray paint, too! It’s on at least 2 different surfaces and looks identical. I think conservatives have found their means – subversion! Love it!

  • blooch

It’s “graff”…like a nickname for an old friend, or tennis player, or something.

    >”Obviously I have experience with graff,” said Fairey, “and there is not much point hitting a spot that will be cleaned immediately.” <

Yeah, Fair, good luck in your brick Death Star there…

“Immediately”…You do realize, Fair, that “graffers(?)” are going to be hitting that wall nightly just to take pics of you getting busy with a scrub brush and bucket.

    lol

  • Jack_Savage

It’s true. The company I work for got an e-mail. I saved it.

  • tankertodd

“God help me, I do love it so.”

  • blooch

not to deface or erase some “Urbations” on their building?

I’ll bet HUD has a different name for the work on Fairey’s wall…something like “Volk Art”, maybe.

  • blooch

with smart bombs like this one.

  • Jack_Savage

The HUD letter was VERY terse and VERY specific – the reports can no longer contain the word “graffiti”, the term used must be “urban art”. Also, pictures shall NOT include residents of the neighborhood lest the client get the idea that the local population is undesirable and thus lower the value of the property.

  • blooch

in commercial construction–Clinton’s Presidential Library excluded–for HUD to get all worked up about.

I was a fan due to the memogate reporting.

Key in on the WAS. If followed along, but lost interest last year.

Charles is convinced that the christian right is driving fiscal conservatives and libertarians away from the Republican party. He articulates that if they drive away the christian right, the fiscal conservatives will come back.

That’s such unadulterated bunk my view on the website is now MEH. All the Republicans have to do is actually behave like fiscal conservatives, and they will recapture the fiscal conservatives.
