The Reality-Based Community’s *Having* a Breakdown?

I suppose that Mark Hemingway’s Corner post title is technically possible – but from where I’m sitting the quote-unquote ‘reality-based community’ started their breakdown some time around 12 noon on the Wednesday after Election Day 2002.  They expected to win seats back then, not lose them – and the disconnect between their expectations and objective reality drove many of them quite, quite that.  After almost seven years, you’d think that we’d find another word for that besides ‘breakdown;’ not that I’m a trained mental health professional or anything.

On the other hand, I am an experienced site moderator, and speaking as one of those I’d have to say that Misters Malloy, Carcaterra, and Boehlert are just a touch too inappropriately anticipatory when they talk and write about the supposed upcoming wave of American right-wing violence in general, and almost eager when it comes to their ‘worries’ that the President will be assassinated.  Although if asked, they would all bluster on and on how they’re merely concerned and dreading that potential outrage, of course.

Of course.

is for one of those sorts of nutcases to posit that the right killed off Teddy Kennedy and made Robert Byrd ill to prevent the Dems having 60 votes in the Senate. Hell if they’re going to reinvent history they might as well reinvent the present while they’re at it.

Then the rest of the MSM can join in with “There are those who say that….”

Reactions like that tell me that we’re getting to them. Now’s the time to turn up the volume even louder, then.

It is just killing them to see their own tactics turned on them. I guess they figured that only their lefty buddies had access to “Rules for Radicals”.

Bush still got most of his agenda passed with a minority in both Houses. Obama can’t get most of his agenda passed with a majority in both Houses.

    Interesting, isn’t it?

?worries? that the President will be assassinated.”

I get that feeling, too. All The Time.

Because then we’d be stuck with Biden and Pelosi. The thought terrifies. I prefer more positive visualization – for instance, Pelosi and party go spelunking on a long weekend and are lost forever due to an unfortunate demolition accident.

It makes me think that they are laying the groundwork to blame the right when the left finally takes drastic measures because Obama is not getting his agenda to sail through Congress, and he’s not radical enough for them.

every day. I shudder at the violence that will erupt in the cities should he be assassinated. I remember MLK’s assassination! I also shudder at all the stuff they’ll try to enact in his memory.

I’m confident that there will be violence in this Country when the looters and moocher figure out that they’re still having to pay for flat screens and aren’t drinking pink Bubble-up and eating Rainbow Stew. We on the right just have to keep the crazies on our side of the ditch in check.

on being revered. I think that O shouldn’t even be assassinated for that reason. The leftists would make him a martyr.

  • Finrod

Kennedy’s presidency would probably not be fondly remembered by anyone had he not been assassinated. Had he lived through the 1964 election Goldwater probably would have won and big.

  • Richard Mullins

and not let him assassinated. The funeral would be worse than Teddy ” the Alcoholic” Kennedy’s funeral.

Read the comments below. He would become a martyr to be revered for destroying the republic rather than defeated in an honest election.

Which is probably why the left seems to eagerly anticipate his possible assassination. Where Obama alive is failing to advance his agenda, dead he’s worth a lot more because it would be “all for Obama.”

I know you didn’t mean it that way, but you may want to revise and resubmit.

  • Richard Mullins

I don’t and I really knew what I meant. Having assassinated as well having the funeral would make the left turn him into a big martyr. Personally, the Far left wants him to be assassinated for just the reason of being a martyr. Besides, he’s worth more alive than dead.
