Anyone surprised that the Left lied about supporting Afghanistan…

…(as can be found via here) is someone who has forgotten, or never knew, that the phrase “Not In Our Name” originated as a slogan against the liberation of Afghanistan.  in other words: I’ve known for half a decade that the antiwar movement lies when it suits them, so I was hardly surprised when the mask slipped on this one.

Contemptuous, but hardly surprised.

In other news, General McChrystal is possibly threatening to resign if the White House doesn’t start listening for his requests for more troops.  For the sake of pretty much… everybody… I hope to hell that’s a garbled report; mostly because I don’t think that the President has ever handled a situation like this before, and I have precisely zero respect for his ability to learn how to do things right on the first try.

    However I don’t get this.
1>Did Obama formulate a strategy for Afghanistan? In February more troop deployment was approved.
    2>Recently he said ( http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-09-16-obama-afghanistan_N.htm ):
One of the things that I’m absolutely clear about is you have to get the strategy right and then make determinations about resources,” Obama said. “You don’t make determinations about resources ? certainly you don’t make determinations about sending your men and women into battle ? without having absolute clarity about what the strategy is going to be.”

Now that tells me he doesn’t have a strategy. 8 months into a war and Commander In Chief does not have a strategy???

Mr. President punt if you want to. Do whatever quickly. Don’t put the troops at risk. Give them a fighting chance.

I reported here a while back that it changes every month or so. The press keep acting as though the strategy was set in March, but it was redone several times since then and is obviously about to change again.

Unfortunately with all his time spent on health care and UN photo ops and talks shows, he doesn’t really have time for Gen McChrystal yet. He might get around to asking for his report in October.

It’s not like Barry can put ACORN in charge at this point. Although I’d give whatever money I had left after watching Art Chance decimate the RNC to see some community organizers go up against the Taliban.

Let’s send Bertha Lewis to replace him. She’s got the “Rolodex of Power” to get the job done. If she needs backup, she can take her buddy, the First Grizzly, with her. Both of ‘em would look good in burkas…..
