So, Senator Tom Carper just admitted to the PhRMA/WH deal.

No. Seriously.

For those who don’t remember, the White House traded an $80 billion cap in costs with PhRMA in exchange for $150 million in pro-health care rationing advertising buys, then claimed that they didn’t do any such thing.  Except that now Senator Carper’s committed the classic Kinsley gaffe: inadvertently telling the truth in Washington by admitting matter-of-factly that such a deal apparently took place.

Oops?

(The logo’s blurry, so: video shamelessly ripped off of FireDogLake, who shamelessly ripped it off themselves from C-SPAN.)

When they ask Charlie Gibson about it, he’ll just laugh and say he hadn’t heard anything about that and it’s not really news anyway.

I’m not a lawyer, much less one specializing in campaign finance rules and regulations, so I’d like to know from the experts: Is there a violation of law here? If so, can/should Republicans filibuster further health care discussions within the Senate Finance Committee until the question of whether or not massive government corruption was committed is resolved?

The government can cut a deal with Pharma so they will spend 150mil on favorable ads for Obamacare, and that’s ok. But Humana sends out a negative mailer to their own company’s customers and get hammered by HHS. Chicago thugs at work!!
