Time discovers a certain comedic talent in its health care coverage.

Most of the rest of this Time article on the looming Democratic problems with passing its health care rationing bill is kind of bland, but this: this is pure genius.

Barack Obama will no longer be able to stand on the sidelines and will have to declare his own position on many of the issues that have divided his party.

After all, his position is already well-known: the President will have turned out to have agreed all along with whatever bill makes it out of Congress for him to sign. As for showing leadership – what do you think this is, the Olympics?

This was a telephone poll: is this “surge” due to the lack of a clear alternative being promoted as aggressively by the Republicans as the minions of the Democrats are promoting Hell-th Care? Is it the MSM reporting that the Baucus Plan is more reasonable than earlier versions?

Or is it just another quirk in the polling?

I do fear that the promotion and constant repetition of The Big Lie may have an effect ultimately. Opposition is still at 50%, but – logically – that should be growing, not stabilizing, and certainly not eroding.

    See:

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/health_care_reform

    An excerpt:

“With the exception of ?bounces? following a couple of nationally televised presidential appearances, this is the first time support for the congressional health care effort has risen. Rasmussen Reports is tracking support for the plan on a weekly basis.

Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Democrats now favor the plan while 80% of Republicans are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 39% favor the plan, but 55% oppose it.”

Obama has bounced in the polls, but I dont think it is from indies moving back. Obama took some hits previously from Dems who were going thumbs down on the abandonment of public option. Dem sheeple are getting in line and are giving him approve ratings on a bill that many progressive are calling a sellout.

The bounce might be from the either grudging acceptance of a compromise or the hopes that the left can pull a fast one and stuff the public option in during the conference.

I sure dont see a bounce in the indie vote … 55% oppose?!? only 39% favor?!?

Actually I did some digging … last weeks numbers were: “Currently 75% of Democrats favor the plan. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Republicans are opposed, as are 72% of the unaffiliated. ”

So actually, the bill did make headway, with rising Dem support and 14 point reduction in independent opposition. But that GOP opposition has hardened.

Now ask the question – “3 million jobs were lost since Obama was inaugurated. How do you rate the Democrats on creating jobs and helping te ? ”

Either way, we face the most dangerous time for the bill – it must be killed now, and they must start over with a clean sheet and a new set of rules – no mandates, no higher taxes, no restrictions on our freedom.
