FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

NY-23 Hoffman/Scozzafava: What Jim said.

This statement is coming from the biggest Party hack on RedState, and is my own personal opinion.

This got triggered by the refutation of Dede Scozzafava’s allegation that John McCormack – John McCormack – screamed questions at her, I think. Jim Geraghty’s had enough, and so have I.

The time has come for the RNC and NRCC to ask for their money back. This goes well beyond any reasonable difference on policy. There’s room in the party for pro-choice Republicans and pro-gay marriage Republicans and maybe even the odd pro-card-check Republican. But not this kind of arrogance, this kind of clumsy dishonesty, this kind of reckless hostility to a reporter and a publication that need not be an enemy.

The RNC and NRCC are better than the Scozzafava campaign; it’s time for them to demonstrate that they know how a candidate and her staff are supposed to react when asked a question, and show that Scozzafava’s team’s behavior is just not acceptable.

It’s time for the national GOP to – reluctantly, and I understand their reluctance! – drop Dede Scozzafava and go with Doug Hoffman.  This isn’t a situation where the national party is overriding the will of local primary voters; it is a situation where a particular choice of candidate turned out to be the wrong one.  Bad choices may be reversed.  It’s also time for Ms. Scozzafava to act in the best interests of first the voters of NY-23; and second, the Republican party; by dropping out of the race.  As it stands she is helping the Democratic candidate, whose presence in Congress and support of the current ruling party would certainly hurt the former.

especially in light of the fact that when Bertha Lewis, in her speech to the National Press Corps, knocked the Republicans as the boogeymen. Steele came out praising ACORN. Why would you expect him to disavow the candidate that is backed by ACORN? Or, did his words mean something else that I missed?

plans to have him on his TV show tomorrow. Hoffman gave some very good answers. Beck stepping in to give more exposure to Hoffman should help his fundraising efforts in NY-23.

She needs to stop pulling votes away from Hoffman.

    Well said, Moe, and Jim.

Hoffman did very well on the show, and impressed Beck. Sorry, proud GOPers, but if it’s a choice between a KOS-endorsed Republican and a Fred(!)/CFG/Beck-endorsed Conservative candidate, I’m going with the independent.

I am absolutely stunned the party and people like Newt (who is now officially off my SCOTUS short list) have stuck with Dede. This is one very early indicator that business as usual will be the party’s modus operandi. Frankly. I don’t expect to see any significant ubiquitous Republican electoral gains once people begin to figure out this is another rebranding campaign with nothing new in the wrapper.

As a New Yorker, I really thought the party would try to make a fresh start in this race. Gone would be all the political calculations and predictive analysis. We would lead based on principal with someone who lived our collective values.

Strong positions and history on important fiscal issues are very relevant with today’s NY voters. We are over-taxed on every level- federal, state and local. People are leaning back towards conservative values. And what is the party’s response? Backing another Democrat in Republican clothing. Absolutely, mind boggling.

I am not much of a movie buff. However, now I understand what William Wallace felt like when he was betrayed by Robert the Bruce, who teamed with Longshanks to save the status quo and advance his own well-being. Just beyond words.

My husband always held Newt and Karl in high regards. He spoke of them as the last true conservatives of the party who had the intelligence to direct the party in the right direction. I bought Newt’s book and had it signed. I read it and agreed that they were some of the more upstanding members of the party. Now, I have been let down. Although, we both hoped that this was some kind of lie by the left to make us shy away from the GOP. Unfortunately it is not.

I see now that the last true conservatives have been corrupted and that they play ‘politics as usual’ just like the rest of them. At a time when my loyalty was already teetering with the republican party, Newt and Karl have caused me to lose all trust with the GOP. Good job guys.

You know, I donated over $250 to McCain and the GOP when Palin joined the ticket, and I bought so many pro-McCain tshirts that I could not count them all. All of that only to have the GOP and mostly McCain smash my loyalty into a million tiny little pieces.

I was just starting to pick up those pieces trust the republicans again with the nightmare that obama has been. I was looking toward the GOP as some sort of savior, and I have been ripped to shreds again. Not only was there NO outrage against Olympia Snowe, but Karl and Newt go out and support this rino over a true conservative that voters could and WILL wrap their hope around.

Were the republicans blind & deaf to the 2 million people that marched on Washington? Do they not pay attention to the polls that show the American people who are hungry for the conservative family values to come back to the party? Are you listening to the people or are you listening to the Democrats?

Sorry GOP, but not one cent of my dwindling money will go to support the RNC again. That is unless they can start showing signs they will give up on trying to act like democrats and embrace the true values of the GOP.

Newt and Karl, if you have the intelligence to reverse your decision, I MIGHT consider trusting the GOP again. Until then, the party is dead to me. I know I am not alone in this thought, and many conservatives are leaving the GOP in droves because of this.

Right now I consider myself and independent leaning libertarian, and I will no longer believe the republican lie that voting independent would never win. I will vote my values and my beliefs of who is the best candidate and suggest others do the the same. I hope and pray for good republicans like Palin and Bachman to make the bold step to switch parties. While that might seem radical to you, in today’s socialist climate, nothing seems off the wall any more.

I’m not trying to mock you, really, but just to point out that we’ve got imperfect political parties because we’re all imperfect people. And in our real world, individuals are going to disappoint us, ever betray us – because they’ have their weaknesses and blindnesses too. And others are just rotten through and through – but not everyone.

You’ll find a lot of support here regarding how the Republican Establishment is off fighting pursuing the same wrongheaded opportunistic tactics that got us into this mess. They think that if they just keep digging that they’ll get themselves out of the hole they dug themselves into.

The point here, if you follow Cold Warrior and others here is not to abandon the Republican Party but to take it back. At this point, it’s the only political structure that can the march to perdition that the Democrats are taking us on.That means becoming a precinct chairperson and helping vote the party back on track.

Again, I’m not advocating to passively suck it up; rather, get in there and fight for the soul of the Republican Party – the fight is by no means lost…unless too many give up prematurely.

that they are called the stupid party.

Because for the most part these days they will shill for anything with and R behind it, even if its not conservative whether it be policies or candidates. I also agree this whole episode has ended Newt2012 before it even got off the ground because his only chance was to be the voice for the dissatisfied base because the Rockfeller types wont give him the time of day. By endorsing someone who makes the Maine gals look like Rush it just shows Newt is about what he thinks will help Newt and not much else.

“The RNC and NRCC are better than the Scozzafava campaign”

    Are they?

I think they all three deserve each other. But those organizations don’t deserve our support, and we don’t deserve to have them inflicted on us.

I also note that Mr. G did NOT say whether he thought the NRSC was better than the Scozzafava campaign…

She was already declined debates…why is she asking for them now?
