FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Doctor No, health care rationing, and unanimous consent.

(H/T: Big Government) Senator Tom Coburn is living up to his nickname:

Sen. Tom Coburn, the Oklahoma Republican who developed a close friendship with President Obama when they served together in the Senate, is threatening to have the entire health care bill read on the Senate floor.

Senior Senate Democratic aides had heard Coburn was considering having potentially thousands of pages read aloud in effort to stall passage. “If he did this it would be even outrageous for a guy who’s become known as Dr. No around here,” one of them told POLITICO.

Good luck on getting Coburn to back down on this: we’re talking about a guy who has a hold on a veterans’ bill because it’s not addressing his concerns about cost duplication and discrimination. We’re also talking about a guy with an approval rating somewhere around 60 with his constituents – so that argument is out, too.  Ed Morrissey thinks that this could delay the bill for up to half a year; I don’t expect it to go that far, but Coburn’s poised to be able to do one heck of a monkeywrenching job on the health care rationing bill for at least the rest of 2009…

Steny Hoyer is invoking MLK and trying the Race-baiting option….

I got news for you Democrats — Coburn isn’t Dr. No, he is Dr. KNOW and he (as do we) all know this is BS (Greater Good? what a joke) and it must be blocked.

Its quite obvious only mafia-ACORN style force is going to pass this bill if it even passes and then we end up with the same thing we got in Freddie and Fannie with ACORN obama dodd, frank ,schummmmmmmer , reid, pelosi threatening banks if they didn’t loan to unquailified buyers, Now we have the bottom feeders wanting people to pay $15,000 in fines if they don’t sign up for obamacare and 5 years in prison. Isn’t it time to look at the Constitution for guidance because what you democrats are trying to do today is illegal. Let me remind you of Jefferson Sentence your Democrat Congressman from LA got on Nov 13 f. redstate”Friday night, prosecutors in the case of The United States v. William Jefferson (D-LA) issued a memorandum recommending a prison sentence of 27 to 33 years for the former congressman from New Orleans, consistent with Federal sentencing guidelines. Such a long sentence is justified, according to the memo, by the severity of the crimes, flight risk, and the possibility of hidden assets.Anything approaching the recommended punishment would be the longest sentence ever meted out on given to a U.S. Congressman. Jefferson will be sentenced on November 13 by Federal Judge T.S. Ellis III in Alexandria, VA..”Now it is time to tell the democrats Hell NO

From the LA Times, courtesy of The Corner

Reporting from Washington – Backed by some of the most powerful members of the Senate, a little-noticed provision in the healthcare overhaul bill would require insurers to consider covering Christian Science prayer treatments as medical expenses.

The provision was inserted by Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) with the support of Democratic Sens. John F. Kerry and the late Edward M. Kennedy, both of Massachusetts, home to the headquarters of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

at Ft. Hood today, mostly about Obamas utter irrational insensitivity when he thought it more important to “give a shout out” to Dr. (something) Crow, and act as though nothing tragic had happened, before he even addressed the unfolding tragedy. Drudge has a great article on their site speaking to this from none other than NBC CHICAGO. Immagine his own organized city apparently turning on him first.

  • Scope

also ask that the entire bill be read on the House floor? If so, where are the Republican so-called leaders on this?

  • reaganiterepublicanresistance

Hey Blue Dogs… are you seriously willing to end your political career for Nancy Pelosi?

    WHY?

What’s in it for you… and your constituents? Hard to imagine why anyone would allow themselves to be hectored into taking-one-for-the-team and incurring the wrath of the nation… when this arrogant socialist twit wouldn’t spit on you if your hair was on fire.

NOW is the time to KILL this pig- there’s no future in backing Obama’s radical plans anymore.

Vote for this highly unpopular bill at your peril… as SanFranNan will leave you twisting-in-the-wind next fall, of that you can be sure.

How many more sectors are left in our economy that are currently not controlled by a piece of legislation that has passed this House of Representatives or is already controlled by the Government.

Take a look at S. 787. It’s been in the works.

Obama’s private meeting with House Dems (bribery) produced exactly what he waned; passage of his so called health care plan>>>> the destruction of health care and the American economy as wo know them today..
Got much more to say but can’t right now!

  • dclamage

Pelosi sure looked like the cat that swallowed the canary Sunday morning. Big evil grin on her face.

Speaking of evil — this bill represents an attempt at building a Command Economy for the entire healthcare industry. It attempts to control everything, from the price of premiums, to what benefits must be provided, to how much a healthcare provider can charge. It is doomed to fail.

Clearly, the Democrats intend on phasing out one failed gov’t healthcare system (Medicare/Medicaid) for another (Obamacare). Obamacare is doomed to fail, for all of the same reasons that Medicare/Medicaid are failing, and then some more reasons on top of that.

Clearly, the Republican version of healthcare reform has been found wanting. I say scrap everything and start over. This time, start from basic principles and move outward from there. For starters: healthcare reform should cost taxpayers zero.

The Democrats want all Americans covered, regardless of health or ability to pay. This alone must drive premiums up. Even with 100% participation, premiums must go up. Any Democrat who believes otherwise is fooling themselves.

If we (a) allow insurance carriers to compete across state lines, (b) remove or at least alter state requirements for minimum benefits, (c) provide for meaningful Tort Reform, (d) allow taxpayers who purchase private insurance deduct it directly off their income taxes, and (e) standardize and secure electronic records so that health insurance and care are portable, then we can then sit back for a few years and see the positive impact on premiums and healthcare.
