This is interesting.
HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell says she will not seek re-election next year.
Rell made the announcement in a news conference with reporters Monday at the statehouse in Hartford.
The article indicates that her personal polling has slipped - all the way down to 59%; she was also looking at a Q-poll which had her six points ahead* her most likely Democratic rival. It’s possible that this was enough to trigger her desire to get out of political life, especially in a year that’s starting to look bad for non-conservative incumbents. Then again, it’s possible that this was enough to trigger her desire to switch political gears and enter a race where she’d end up being neither.
Note: that last is a guess. And a very speculative one, at that. And it may be the right guess, but the wrong election cycle…

*Which tells you… pretty much nothing. Quinnipiac hasn’t been at its best this cycle.

I don't think God loves us enough for that

Gov. Rell she has led the state in as a conservative manner as you can get. I would say she is conservative, and for CT even a right-winger. She has to deal with a left-of-center voting base and a Democratic legislature, in a Democratic machine state, she has done a great job. Hate to see her go, she may not be lock-step with GOP politician, but she is a good leader in CT.
It would be nice if Rell would run against Dodd, but we got some great candidates already. I think she is outa politics though.
Who are the good candidates?
enrique Tuesday, November 10th at 9:17PM EST (link)The only one I’m familiar with is Schiff from CNBC and he seems a little too intense to win there. Of course, I’m not from CT so I have no idea how people there would view him.

ktsub Tuesday, November 10th at 9:36PM EST (link)She already has ads running, take a look at her website. Must be pretty good, she is already being talked about as “spending too much money” on the race!

Rob Simmons was the annointed one, from what I have seen (I am not from CT), he does not seem to have the umph to get this done. Dodd will have the funds to outspend Rob, however, Linda will have the money to respond to anything that is thrown at her. Schiff may too, I dont know…he has done good on the Ron Paul fundraising “money bomb”.

Jodi Rell 2012?
redtillimdead Tuesday, November 10th at 11:06PM EST (link)I’ve heard many people speculate she may try to run for President in 2012. Maybe not a bad idea. We can beat them to be the first to nominate a Republican. I know I’d take her over Huckabee.
Nancy Pelosi can kiss my asstroturf.
OK for the northeast
renegade Wednesday, November 11th at 8:27AM EST (link)Rell underwent breast cancer surgery a few years back, she’s in her 60’s so this might have had something to do with her decision. As far as her republican credentials, it’s what you’d expect from a North East republican. Not a conservative but was effective at mainly holding back the solidly dem state legislature from destroying the state even further.

proudgop Wednesday, November 11th at 9:20AM EST (link)She is very popular it will be tough for us to hold the seat but perhaps she also thinks 2010 will be best envior for us and it can be best we retain it
It would of been nice with her helping us take down Dodd even if she was lead of ticket at Governor. I believe she is supporting Simmons for Senate ( could be wrong)
Republicans in NY, NJ, and CT just need to run on property taxes. Too many people are fleeing these areas because high cost of living
