POTUS visits Objective Reality on Gitmo.

(Via Hot Air) Took him long enough:

President Obama acknowledged for the first time on Wednesday that his administration would miss a self-imposed deadline to close the detention center at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, by mid-January, admitting the difficulties of following through on one of his first pledges as president.

[snip]

On Guantánamo, Mr. Obama said that he now hoped to shut down the detention facility sometime next year, but he did not set a new deadline.

Translation: Gitmo isn’t closing in 2010, either – which means that it probably isn’t closing, period.  Which is something that I’ve known was going to be happening for months.  But then, I’m not the Fortunate Son.

PS: Next time?  Run for and serve as Governor of something, Mr. President.  It helps cut down on rookie mistakes like this.

Wonder how the libbies are taking the ol bait n switch. Obamalamadingdong is playing them like the Chicago thug he is. He’s hiding his agenda from his base because when they turn on you they bring baseball bats (SEIU thugs anyone?) Reality is a beeooch ain’t it?

So, let’s see about GITM(O- Bush was right
About the war or terror-Bush was right
About using military tribunals not civilian courts-Bush was right

I cannot wait until the true believe rabid lefties put down the Doob and realize they’ve been played.

… would seem to be small consolation for those of us on this side of the aisle. I can only hope that some of his “progressive” backers see this as the blunder/lie that it was.

However, I fear they are so busy frothing at the mouth at the thought of passing Obamacare that they can hardly focus on this right now.

Obama said having Gitmo around made us less safe. He grabbed a date out of a hat said we’d close it. Now he says no big deal ‘cuz it was like kinda hard to do.

So all the moderates who voted for Obama can take their pick:
    - He is admitting now that he was lying about it making us less safe.
    –or–
    - He was telling the truth then but thinks it’s no big deal that we’re going to stay less safe by leaving it open.

Announcing the closing of Gitmo lifted the spirits of terrorists everywhere. It was a signal that we weren’t serious about stopping terrorists.

A case could be made that if closing Gitmo is the moral and right thing to do, we should do it even if it hurts us in other ways.

Making the announcement and then failing to follow through fails on all counts. It makes the world more dangerous, while not improving the “moral” condition you claimed existed.

It is time to get down to the what did he know and when did he know questions. Why did he say he would close gitmo in the first place? Why did he change his mind? Most important – Is he more concerned with appeasing the loony left or keeping Americans safe? Does he think his actions on gitmo accomplish EITHER of those two objectives – because obviously they don’t.

You said the same thing I did, only much more clearly and efficiently. I should have read your comment more carefully, and I wouldn’t have needed to add mine.

the lefties said they didn’t care if PRes Clinton spouted bible verses or carried a Bible as big as a coffee table– they kne he was lying.
Same with the Left, they know Obama is lying about all this stuff-Gitmo for example.

that America and her citizens are pretty much nuisances and a distraction to World Citizen Obama and his plans for global leadership of some sort. We’re just such a needy and ungrateful lot, don’t you know, what with all the insisting on accuracy in wanting to know where our money went, and how much more his plans are going to cost the next 10 generations of Americans. Not to mention that we are petty enough to object to his idiot crew inventing congressional districts out of thin air and cotton candy.

Bringing KSM to New York is Obama’s bow to the hard Left because he knew he wasn’t going to close Gitmo as he promised. And maybe it’s also his bow to the terrorists who want us all dead, too. They’ll be ever so happy to see all the info that will have to be produced as KSM’s defense.

Maggots wouldn’t make me as disgusted as these people do.
