Breitbart to Eric Holder: Investigate ACORN, or else.

Yes, it's a threat.

And threats don’t get more direct than this: either AG Holder starts investigating ACORN, or Breitbart dumps what he still has on the scene in time to make a difference in the 2010 elections.

And this message is to Attorney General Holder: I want you to know that we have more tapes, it’s not just ACORN, and we’re going to hold out until the next election cycle, or else if you want to do a clean investigation, we will give you the rest of what we have, we will comply with you, we will give you the documentation we have from countless ACORN whistleblowers who want to come forward but are fearful of this organization and the retribution that they fear that this is a dangerous organization.  So if you get into an investigation, we will give you the tapes; if you don’t give us the tapes, we will revisit these tapes come election time.

Italics in original. If this is a bluff… well.  Every time somebody thought that Andrew Breitbart has been bluffing on the ACORN scandal, he’s turned out not to be.  The latest one has Patterico almost gibbering in glee as he rakes the LA Times and James Rainey over the coals for their uncritical willingness to believe Lavelle Stewart; it doesn’t seem particularly safe to hope that this time is the time that Breitbart’s got nothing left.

AG Holder has to investigate this.  It’s clear that there’s something rotten at the core of ACORN – and while that may be a politically sensitive issue for the administration, that’s the administration’s problem and nobody else’s.  The longer this goes on, the worse it’s going to be for the White House when it finally gets faced… and if this becomes an electoral issue in 2010, it will be faced.  If only because a large section of the new Congress successfully campaigned on the promise that they would get to the bottom of this.

Principle over party, Attorney General.  Or your party gets hammered.  Your call.  Speaking as a Republican, I hope that you try to keep stonewalling; speaking as an American (which takes precedence), I suggest that you don’t.

I, for one, would not want to be on his bad side. Just sayin’.

  • Achance

“You didn’t do anything bad, did you? I thought not.” That is a thorough Democrat investigation of one of their friends and that’s all there’ll be. If there’s enough political pressure, the DOJ might do something to make it look like they’re doing something, easy enough to not do something and say you did in government, but there’ll be no meaningful federal investigation of an important contituency and operational group.

As I’ve long advocated here, every Republican Governor and AG should be on ACORN like white on rice but most seem more interested in being nice.

  • mschmitt

… and a heck of a backbone to take on this administration like that. I’m starting the countdown until we find out how many speeding tickets, and citations for un-mowed lawns the man has. Starting…. NOW!

  • KeepOhioRed

    it even rhymes!!

  • rec0n

I am not a big believer in telegraphing your punches. Particularly with this admin. And particularly when the opposition has the potential to shut you down. I tend to think Andrew should adapt his strategy to the landscape and use guerilla tactics, not power plays.

  • Jeff Wetterau

With Teh Won throwing Holder under the bus on the KSM thing, I tend to wonder if the AG might start having second thoughts about protecting his boss. You know he knows how deep ACORN / SEIU ties run in this administration, so it is a coin toss:

Heads: stonewall and hope Breitbart is bluffing (doubtful)
Tails: Do the right thing and investigate ACORNGate and possibly bring start the crumbling of this administrative house of cards (and Teh Won) down. (knowing these guys, even more doubtful)

Kudos to AB for making the threat, though. The guy has cajones of steel.

If you mysteriously disappear, we’ll come looking for you.

    They said Gonzales was stupid!

While I absolutely love Andrew Breitbart I’m worried for him Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe. I hope they have multiple copies of these tapes and a cadre of bodyguards. It’s come to the point where three American citizens need to fear their government. Let the word go out that if ANYTHING happens any of these three great Americans the pitchforks and torches will be in Washington in such numbers that they won’t be able to ignore us!

Holder is the worst excuse for an AG in America’s history. But then I’m not surprised as he was appointed by the worst POTUS in history.

Good job Breitbart, keep em sweating and looking over their shoulder.

  • The_Rebel

The thugs at Acorn and SEIU have a tendency to violence, and won’t need much of an excuse to do Holder’s dirty work.

  • samdallas

When you break lots of laws it pays to have an incompetent subservient AG.

This sounds a little conspiratorial, but why did O’Keefe and Giles pose as a pimp and prostitute? Could Breitbart know something we don’t at this point, and that is why the pimp/prostitute getup’s?

With all of this dicussion of more tapes, elections and a need for the AG, it seems there is something deeper than we’ve seen so far.

  • jdaman

Ha ha ha, I hope the Democrats do try and ignore this. It would be very funny, and it’s about time somebody did something like this. Give people like Holder an outright threat I mean. Warnings and things like that don’t seem to be working anymore.

  • Castor

Andrew should release half of what he has if the DOJ starts an investigation. We know that any investigation into ACORN by Holder would really be a quasi investigation and only a stalling tactic. Then comes along September 2010 and Breitbart releases the really meaty ones in time to complicate the election for the donkeyheads.

  • bigdaddyred

According to Breitbart, the videos were James and Hannah’s idea and doing and they came to Andrew for advice on how to proceed especially after how far down the rabbit hole ACORN went. Originally James was just going to post them all on youtube.

  • GCBWI

i don’t know the man. Perhaps he’s an amazing poker player.

Going this public in calling the AG to investigate seems to me to be incredibly risky…unless you have the information you claim to have.

  • izoneguy

Notice how he said – It is not just ACORN…..

Now the AG is thinking??? Hmmmm, what else could it be?

Breitbart knows that Holder & Obama won’t do anything.
They could care less about ACORN….

The next logical target would be the unions – except they
    are a tough group -

  • nateleyswhore

I think the AG is beginning to feel out of his depth. Graham’s beat down was bad enough, but now he has private citizens calling him out publicly. The KSM Circus will have Obama contemplating this appointment before it is over. This guy actually thinks a majority of Americans think like him and the rest of the Lib Loon Legal Society. He is another of Chairman Zero’s radicals who, I believe, are basically like a bunch of hippies who took over the college Administration Building.

  • http://www.eyeconshirts.com anastas

This can be construed as blackmail can’t it? Isn’t it the same as the guy holding information about David Letterman’s affairs? In Letterman’s case, he held truth over Dave’s head for money. In this case, it’s truth over holder/Obama for action. Either way, Breitbart has probably shot his way to the top of the list of targets of this administration. But the guy who blackmailed letterman went to jail.

  • IJB

    Hence, it’s not extortion.

  • texas214

Why pimp and prostitute, could have been homeless, unwed pregnancy, drug dealers….. but pimp and prostitute? I sound conspiratorial but I’ve always wondered why that get up? Did they know something?

  • http://www.laborunionreport.blogspot.com LaborUnionReport

Whether its the ACORN 8 or others from the inside, Breitbart probably has a bunch of people ACORN insiders spilling their guts on tape on where all the bodies are buried (so to speak).

  • kowalski

That’s too clever by half. The only thing you have to know about ACORN and insiders is that Howard Dean went to Louisiana to work on a project with ACORN in the aftermath of Katrina where he offered that Katrina was going to be “the end of the Republican Party.”

The reason ACORN is such a sensitive issue for Democrats is because Dean was the Chair of the DNC. Exposing what a fraud they are went straight back to His Highness, the People Powered Howard.

  • kowalski

When Dean was down there banging wood for ACORN and Rahm “Up Yours” Emanuel was proclaiming that “Katrina Equals Competence” it seemed that ACORN could do no wrong. It turns out that they’re a bunch of shady operators, and everything else has been the pushback from the DNC after having their idiots exposed for what they are and were.

  • kowalski

ACORN used to have a prominent photograph of Dean on their website, which has since been expunged. But the Google cache shows that ACORN was a favored group — not just for Howard Dean but also Bill Clinton and John Edwards.

    21. April 2006 by Governor Howard Dean, Governor, Vermont, USA

?I am pleased to be working with ACORN to help play a small role in the rebuilding of this wonderful city,? said Dean, in town for the Democratic National Committee and taking time to help gut out a Home with ACORN.

  • bigdaddyred

some of James’ blogs on Big Gov and I think his own website has some insight to this. He has a history of seeing how far he can push the P.C. crowd. The idea was James and Hanna’s not Breitbarts.

  • nessa

Maybe they just found it sweet irony for them to be exposed by a pair who so closely mirrored their own relationship with the liberals.

  • saterp

If only Republicans in Congress had the balls of an Andrew Breitbart.

  • blogan2

Well, homeless and unwed pregnancy aren’t illegal.

If they were a drug dealer, you’d be asking why they were a drug dealer.

Basically, they went in and blatantly said they were breaking the law to see how ACORN would respond. And I’m guessing the left is probably a little more lenient to prostitution than they would be to a crack dealer.

I’m sure when they went into the ACORN offices the first time, they would have James talk about how he’d download songs off the Internet all day without paying for them, and how he’d remove tags from mattresses, but realized that those videos wouldn’t do much.

  • grnd07ma

Get a grip dude. If you had been truly following the story you would have known that it was Hannah’s idea. She was jogging and found herself in an “unsavory” part of town, thought of the idea and pitched it to James.

Truly, I have to wonder about the motives of someone who does not have any intimate knowledge of the subject he/she is commenting on, especially when that someone jumps straight to conspiracy theory.

  • grnd07ma

Andrew Breitbart operates 3 major websites that I am aware of.

And, from what I have seen on these websites and with the orchestrated release of the ACORN videos, he is no idiot. Nor is he in the least bit stupid.

What I see is an angry American. Angry that he has to shelter these two young people, who, without any promise of future fame, without any corporate financial backing and who, without any forethought to the personal consequences, embarked on a journalistic journey across the USA to expose corruption. I see a man, who has taken these two budding journalists under his wing, affording them his expertise and his protection.

His anger is that of parent who is defending his children against the wrongs of the world. His anger is that of a citizen who is damned sick and tired of being lied to by the those who are supposed to be “reporting” the truth.

His anger is my anger. Go Andrew Breitbart. May God keep you safe!

  • grnd07ma

Andrew seems to have a set. Finally, someone in the media, besides talk radio that has brass testicles.

In today’s world of metrosexuals and the meandering of the left that cannot seem to logically state their point without devolving to gutter-speak, Andrew Breitbart seems to be the light at the end of the tunnel. Finally, a Jack Bauer in real life!

Go get em Andrew! I cannot wait to see how this plays out.

  • lukematthews

We must begin making the important connections between ACORN and SEIU. They are, after all, sister organizations that were created for a singular reason; to destroy capitalism and create labor union hegemony. SEIU’s Andy Stern is Obama’s number one visitor at the White House for a reason. They are openly advocating the overthrow of all capitalist/free market organizations. Stapling the two organizations together will bring the whole house of card down at once. It will once and for all expose this administration as the most corrupt, antidemocratic regime in the nation’s history.

    Go Breitbart!
