FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Reviewing the October fundraising numbers.

As promised. Short version: DNC beat RNC, NRSC edged DSCC, DCCC edged NRCC, and cash on hand would worry me more if the GOP hadn’t just removed the NJ & VA governorships from the Democrats and essentially handed NY-23 as part of a unfortunate but necessary life lesson to the GOP leadership.

RNC 9.06 11.29 0.00
DNC 11.58 12.96 4.40
NRSC 4.00 5.80 0.00
DSCC 3.70 11.30 2.00
NRCC 3.44 4.17 2.00
DCCC 3.76 14.52 3.34
GOP 16.5 21.26 2.00
Dem 19.04 38.78 9.74

The Congressional and Senatorial committees’ ability to stay at rough parity is a bright spot, but the cash-on-hand problem would be a matter of some concern… if it weren’t for the fact that the Democrats just spent 14 million in October to lose the Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial elections, while the Republicans spent 16 million to win them.  I’m sure that the Democrats got every ounce of consolation out of winning NY-23 – after the GOP base demonstrated that they were willing to lose another seat rather than be ignored* – but they weren’t happy to make that trade.

All that being said:

RNC.
NRCC.
NRSC.

If it hurts too much, try Reverse the Vote! Specifically targets 24 Congressional Democrats in Red districts, goes straight to the general election candidates, the national committees don’t see a dime.

*A tactic that progressive Democrats, of course, are too timid to try.  Bluster about, yes, but not actually do.

I suspect that if conservatives weren’t so livid with establishment Republicans that the numbers for the RNC, NRSC, and NRCC would be much higher. They’re suffering mightily because conservatives are saying NO, not because the Dems are more effective.

To your point, we need to look at candidate numbers by race, not just overall party numbers.

For instance, Crist-Rubio. Any donations to Rubio are, of course, *not* donated to the GOP – but are still donated to a Repub candidate. (just one that, because of the gutless DC wing of the GOP, has to battle Crist-the-idiot in a primary)

Isn’t that what they did to Lieberman?

It failed at removing him from office, but they did primary a sitting Senator.

  • JoeG

If we add up all that individual Republicans are hauling in, how does it stand? I believe it would look good, but that’s entirely anecdotal.

Hoping that we close that kind of gap with giving to primary contenders is pure wishful thinking.

  • martellus

The democrats will pass health care. Get that? Understand? We are being principled right over the edge of the cliff. If we don’t take back one of the houses in 2010 cap and trade and card check will be next.

Purity is nice in a soap but in politics it is called giving my children and grandchildren a wasteland and calling that a “moral victory”.

Does the Republican Gov. Assocation and Dem. Gov. Assocation report their numbers the same way as the other committees? Just curious what their monthly number are.

  • Rod_Patrick

No. The fear of these Republicans of the “Nice-in-a-soap Purity” is what preventing the Obamaoists from their long-time dream …. a WASTELAND.

The climate change e-mails should make good fodder:

Perhaps it’s time to visit your eye doctor?

Here’s the thing, Neil. The GOP used to be able to get money out of people, either with their tactless “survey” bulk mailings or through other “please help the party help the candidates” messages.

This is no longer true. Malkin has been running this as an intermittent feature – see this: http://michellemalkin.com/2009/11/04/making-sure-the-message-sticks-more-rejected-rnc-forms/

The point is, giving *has* shifted away from the gutless DC wing of the GOP to the individual candidates.

Yes, the Dems have candidates too, but they don’t have the current dynamic of a party top-heavy with morons who couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.

The point is, the numbers Moe put up are purely at the party level, but they’re not nearly the whole story – as Moe himself says. So, if you really think that the GOP plus candidate account balances are lower than the Dems, prove it. The candidates should be filing their forms soon, the information is out there.

The same wishful idea was expressed in too many places to spam the same comment toa ll of them.

  • acat

    Seriously.

Got proof that GOP + candidate-specific donations are off?

    I’m just sayin’

I’m not the one waving my hand saying that conservatives are stepping it up enough with these nebulous, undefined amounts to conservative candidates in 435 house districts and 30 states with Senate races.

  • AHALgal

    until it embraces conservatism again.

We donate directly to the candidates, to the Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth and OCDB. Beltway Republicans don’t get my cash. Period.
