I’m gobsmacked. So is Sen. McCain. Heck, so is Sen. Durbin.

(Via Hot Air Headlines) Avoiding boggling gets harder and harder every day:

Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin admitted Friday that he is “in the dark” about the national health care bill currently under construction by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In an exchange on the Senate floor, Republican Sen. John McCain asked Durbin, “Should we not at least be informed as to what the proposal is that the Senate Majority Leader is going to propose to the entire Senate?” Durbin’s answer: “I would say to the senator from Arizona that I am in the dark almost as much as he is, and I am in the leadership.” Durbin explained that during a Democratic caucus, Reid and the small group of senators involved in crafting the bill turned to their fellow Democrats and “basically stood and said, ‘We are sorry, we can’t tell you in detail what was involved.’”

I can say nothing else except that while this is not enough to persuade me to show some sympathy to Dick Durbin (whom I despise for his attacks on minority students), this is still no way to run a railroad.  Or a Congress.

    Maybe Horrible Harry should just go ahead and brief VP Biden in on the plan, that couldn’t hurt now could it?

    allow the Dems to get their way most of the time, in or out of power, and act like they run the show when out of power why is it a surprise to see them finally being treated like servants by the elite Dems when the Dems have a nearly, and only nearly, lock on power?

    Perhaps the current leadership needs to either change party affiliation so they can be “in” on things or perhaps they should EXPLAIN to America what needs to done to stop our being bankrupted and actually go about doing it instead of allowing the Dems to set the pace for destroying America…

    Just a thought.

    Yet another example of why any/all “official” Republican Committees/Organizations should NOT receive a single penny from any of us UNTIL THEY GET A GRIP ON ITS CAUCUS….. Cochran (R–MS), Collins (R-ME), and Shelby (R-AL), voted for the fiasco AND PROVIDED COVER FOR WEAK DEMOCRATS of Bayh (D-IN), Feingold (D-WI), McCackle (D-MO), to vote NO to allow them to go back and be CCINO during their next campaigns!!!…. WTF? (please pardon my outrage and pushing the bounds) is wrong with these folks?!?!?!

    It appears to me that the ONLY way these guys are going to get the message is if we turn off the money faucet and send our money directly to deserving candidates. I have called, faxed, and written legislators over and over and over again about health care, deficit spending, and other onerous legislation…to no avail. So, I say cut off the funds. Money talks, and you know what walks.

    “Republicans Senate leaders met behind closed doors to rewrite and partially priviatize Social Security that may result in benefit cuts and eligibilty age increases and no one knows what is in the bill”……….There would be riots in the street

    Dana Milbank in the Washington Post says it’s all about Reid getting reelected. That’s what’s driving his peculiar behavior. I too almost feel sorry for Durbin.

    Milbank’s solution though is to have Schumer or Durbin become majority leader because their states aren’t so difficult to manage. Strange solution!

    After all, the “health care” bill has nothing to do with “health” or “care” and is just a simple expansion of Medicare that will end up with mandated coverage of every American within a few years… and you’ll go to prison – or those non-existent FEMA camps – if you refuse to drink the kool-aid,

    FY 2010 Budget……. Half-a-Trillion Dollars in earmarks ? Feh….. That’s nothin’… Watch how fast the printing presses at The US Mint work with the new anhydrous lubrication systems we got for $100 at a boat shop.

    Sure all of us in Congress are becoming completely irrelevant and when we realize it and try to act it’ll be way too late, because Cass Sunstein “nudged” completely unconstitutional regulations into every aspect of everything in our nation.

    Forget that there’s hundreds of thousands of our armed forces men and women being hung out to dry by the current administration with R.O.E.’s that would make Mr. Ghandi say “Y’all are crazy…. Get out there and fight ‘em !”

    We have Winter Solstice sales to get to and buy stuff for our mistresses….. er…… assistants and staff. Who has time to read something as mundane as legislation that will completely neuter the Constitution and Bill Of Rights ?

    At last sum up and with the current “surge”, approximately 83 million Americans legally own approximately 225 million firearms.

    How’s the administration gonna try and take ‘em away or say “no you can’t” without tens of millions of bodies on the streets ?

    …………..or is that what they want ?………. Civil unrest with things that go bang and boom in the night.

    Wanna make a bet Obama/Holder/Napolitano move to Federalize all L.E.O’s before November 2010 ?

    Something about that passive construct says to me that when it comes to leadership, Durbin doesn’t know his butt from a hot rock.

    He’s hardly alone.

    Whatever happened to take-charge leaders? Now every statement that procedes from the mouths of “leaders” begins with “I think” or “I feel” or “I believe,” or some lame prevarication that allows room for retreat. Not a single unequivocal statement of fact. Everybody has to have wiggle room. Everybody is “in the leadership” but nobody is a leader.

    Compare and contrast: “The buck stops here.” and “I am in the buck stoppage department.”

    My three-year-old grandson recently admitted to pushing his one-year-old brother into the coffee table and giving him a bruised cheek.

    Dick Durbin just admitted to being a leader of the disreputable political party trying to work an enormous con on America.

    The one thing Durbin has in common with the three-year-old is the inability to properly judge right from wrong before acting.

    understands what’s in the bill? I wouldn’t want anyone to bet their life on it.
    Now the stafffers, that’s another story. So Harry, dumb as a paperweight, momentarily grasps what he is told by them.
    But even here there’s a problem, because the staffers know and can only know select portions of the monstrosity.
    At some time this thing will be sewn and glued together for conference and voting. If it passes it will then fall into the hands of the civil servants. With all the time in the world on their hands and unhindered powers of interpretation that’s when the fun begins.
