Jimmy Carter apologizes for the entire ‘trying to destroy Israel’ thing.

Before you read that: Jimmy’s grandson is running for a Georgia state senate seat in a district with a significant Jewish population.  OK? OK.  From UPI:

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter asked the Jewish community for forgiveness for any actions that may have caused distress.

In a letter to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency published Monday, Carter offered a holiday message wishing for an Arab-Israeli peace.

“We must recognize Israel’s achievements under difficult circumstances, even as we strive in a positive way to help Israel continue to improve its relations with its Arab populations, but we must not permit criticisms for improvement to stigmatize Israel,” Carter’s message said. “As I would have noted at Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, but which is appropriate at any time of the year, I offer an Al Het (a plea for forgiveness) for any words or deeds of mine that may have done so.”

Via AoSHQ. It says something about Jimmy Carter that wanting to help his grandkid’s electoral chances would be the nice reason why he’s doing it: all the other ones are either less charitable, or else would put too many people’s hopes up.

Like a bad case of diarrhea, the gift that keeps on giving.

He is really, the only American Politician I actually hate. Hate is a strong negative emotion, but I must confess, I hate him with a white hot heat.

Just a complaint that his efforts to “improve” Israel may have been misunderstood.

…even as we strive in a positive way to help Israel continue to improve its relations with its Arab populations, but we must not permit criticisms for improvement to stigmatize Israel,..I offer an Al Het (a plea for forgiveness) for any words or deeds of mine that may have done so.”

So nothing is his fault, ever. Pure obfuscation.

I would truly HOPE that the people would recognize the type of home his grandson grew up in ie: LEFTIST and send him home to his RACIST grandpappy!

He’s still pretty much an obvious anti-semite. I assume we all remember “If I get back in, I am going to **** the jews.” And like most of his ilk, he’ll never be called on it by the media. Because these days, anything short of Kristallnacht will be greeted with “It’s just anti-zionism, not anti-semitism!”

On the other hand, if this craven political move causes him to shut up for a while, I welcome it.

The quickest way to spot a bullspit apology is to find the word “if” or the phrase “may have” as we see from Carter above.

Another prime example was from famed Nazi hunter Dick Durbin, when he apologized to anyone who “may have” been offended by, or “misinterpreted” his likening of American GI’s to Nazis.

When you sincerely apologize to someone, you don’t use the opportunity to take a shot at them by implying that they “can’t take a joke” or “aren’t smart enough to know what you really meant”.

A sincere apology from Carter would sound something like:

“Please forgive my incredibly offensive statements. It was wrong of me to criticize a duly elected democratic government for doing what is necessary to defend its people from a terrorist network.”

A sincere apology from Durbin would sound something like:

“Please forgive me for comparing these American GI’s to Nazis. It was wrong of me to say because there is simply no comparison, and I was stupid for even trying to make one”

I’m sorry, but I am still fuming about that comment from Durbin. When Harry Reid is defeated for re-election next year and joins the ranks of the unemployed, we need to raise h*** when the Democrats try to elevate Durbin to Majority Leader (assuming they even keep a majority). If Trent Lott’s patronizing compliments to a guy on his 100th birthday can keep him from being majority leader, certainly Durbin’s disqualify him from that same post.

One day though, we will hear a liberal make a sincere apology for something.

that leftist, cultural, non-religious Jews will buy this horsecr*p in a minute. They want Jimmah to be in the fold again. Mostly these Jews hate the right-wing Israeli gov’t (which is mostly to the left of the American Democrat party), and they empathize with the Arab Nazi terrorists living in the midst of Israel. So as long as Carter isn’t openly anti-Jewish, he’ll be loved by the left-wing Jewish voting bloc.

    Like I said, sad.

According to the Mike Gallagher Show Thursday, Carter museum receives a large portion of monetary support from PLO sympathizers. Besides that this man represents a post modernist Neville Chamberlain. He has to be the greatest appeaser in our country’s history. What makes it even more intolerable is that he uses his pacifism to endanger the good guys in the middle east conflict. He comes from Southern Baptist roots which is even more mind bogling.
