Only Kerry would go to Iran.

(H/T: Hot Air) It’s bad when you have somebody from this administration wincing at a proposed foreign relations move:

Sen. John Kerry has suggested becoming the first high-level U.S. emissary to make a public visit to Tehran since the 1979 Islamic revolution, a move White House officials say they won’t oppose.

“…say they won’t oppose.” How… bloodless… a response. And how quick the administration was to remind the world that as head of the Foreign Relations Committee* the movements of Senator Kerry is beyond the White House’s control. It was all his idea, in fact.  A complete surprise:

The Obama administration hasn’t decided whether to make Sen. Kerry its official representative if he goes, but as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Kerry can visit if the White House and Tehran both approve.

Many opponents of Tehran’s regime oppose such a visit, fearing it would lend legitimacy to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a time when his government is under continuing pressure from protests and opposition figures. Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets again this week to voice their opposition to the government following the death of a reformist cleric.

That Kerry’s timing this olive branch to the Iranian ruling regime just when street protests bubbled over is merely a sign that the Senator is watched over by a spirit possessed of vast cunning and political strategic genius.

Who hates Senator Kerry.

*Yes. I know. They made John Kerry head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES, PEOPLE.

Even us old retired guys can’t crack the bottle at ten in the morning unless we’re in Mexico. Though, it is five o’clock somewhere and a Bloody Mary might improve both my spelling and my disposition. I got both boys home for Christmas and before I get my heart set on that Bloody Mary, I’d better go check and see if there’s and vodka in the house; it has a way of disappearing when they’re around.

I just faxed this off to McCain’s office, with a similar fax to Kyl’s:

VIA FAX to Lois Halverson (602) 952-8702 Dec. 24, 2009
    lois_halverson@mccain.senate.gov

Re: Precinct Committeemen Request for Meeting with Sen. McCain

    Dear Ms. Halverson,
Thank you for your time this morning on the phone. I hereby request, on behalf of many like-minded Republican Party precinct committeemen, a meeting with Sen. McCain as soon as possible. We would like Sen. McCain to hear our thoughts regarding the lack of a coordinated fight by the Republican senators, including Sen. McCain, against the Democrat ?health care? bill as well as all of the other terrible legislation that the Republicans have allowed the Democrats to pass without any meaningful opposition.

You told me that you believed Sen. McCain would not be available for any such meeting until after January 13, 2010. Meanwhile, I and other precinct committeemen around the state will try to provide you with the numbers of precinct committeemen we believe will want to attend a meeting with Sen. McCain if he will make himself available to us.

    Thank you.

The best part of the call was when she asked me why I thought Sen. McCain had not put up a fight against the legislation.

    Thank you.

who are too dumb not to get sent to Iran.

Actually, other than Hell, I can’t think of any place I would prefer John Kerry, American Traitor, to go.

Maybe he will buy into that honor killing thing and commit suicide.

  • fpete13527

Moe, I mixed referenced post here and on next one that ERick posted, sorry. The best Christmas to you.

Kerry is the worst of the worst. The MEGATON retaliation fight that we bring next year must be directed at all who choose to destroy this country…..KERRY is among the TOP on the list. Kerry is a disgrace to this nation with few equals.

    Merry Christmas Moe
    Thanks for Your Courage

Kerry has nothing to worry about.

  • Achance

Gotta be nice to them though; we don’t see the oldest much since he followed his girlfriend to Seattle and the youngest just got called back to active duty and has to be at Ft. Benning on the 17th, so he can pretty much do anything he wants!

  • Swamp_Yankee

Don’t hate all yankees achance. You might have a lot more in common with some of the mill city, fishermen, swamp yankee types than you may know.

My old man was a tough old bastard, but we became something like drinking buddies in his later days.

There is no better person in the world to drink an early bloody mary with than a smart, educated, commerical fisherman. I think Alaska may have a few.

  • 6eorge Jetson

Unfortunately, I don’t think the mullah’s desire for Kerry to leave (uhh…NOW!) will be strong enough to dissuade Iran from its nuclear ambitions.

  • Return to Revolution

That is, if we can keep him from coming back

  • jacon4

Dead funny, I hope this is an administration ploy to inform Iran that time is running out, that nevermind sanctions, their resistance to dealing with nuclear ambitions are going to eventually be dealth with militarily and soon.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

  • Swamp_Yankee

I know Kerry’s nice private brownstone on Beacon Hill. Its his primary residence, all nestled in a nice, quiet, manicured square.

If your in Boston, give me twenty bucks and I’ll figure out a way to let you egg it.

  • RedBeard

Machhhh-mooed and his Iranian thugocrats are no doubt getting a great laugh out of this. Yet another impotent but self-important American to use and manipulate,

The favorite word of the copycat lamestream media a while back was “gravitas.” All the cool kids in the newsrooms were saying it. Well, Kerry ain’t got none. Even less than the Obama administration, and that is almost impossible to accomplish.

Mack Sennett (The Keystone Cops) did silent movie comedies along these lines, but the difference is that his work was funny, not tragic.

  • archer52

I can see it now, just as Kerry gets off in Tehran he looks down at this ticket and says, “Guys, hey, guys there has to be a mistake, it says one way!”

Pleease go. Please. I’m phoning their secret police as we speak and leaving an anonymous tip that he is really Jack Bauer on an assassination plot. If that won’t keep him busy for a while, nothing will.

Of course the reality of it would be that within a week the interrogators would be hanging themselves and we’d be getting calls from Iran begging us to take him back. “No, we are serious BO, if you take him back, we’ll send all the nuclear material with him! It was all a big mistake. We are sooooo sorry!”

  • izoneguy

She can bring a big red “screw you” button….
Then Bill can go over and negotiate the release…..

  • johnt

If not , is he bringing his awful wife with him? if that doesn’t cause Iran to cave nothing will,
But maybe he will wind up in the wrong country and not find out till years later, or get the dates totally wrong. Cambodia, Christmas, St Valentines Day, St Patrick’s Day, what’s the diff to a war hero ?

  • anotherindyfilmguy

They are our enemies after all…

But then maybe he is delusional enough to believe he can change everything…

Can a congresscritter be pushed out of their seat for incompetence, mental instability or… wait… *thinking about current governance* never mind…

  • http://dezignworx-ae.com tsquare

    Don’t let him come back.

  • aelie

For many years, Democrats have always ignored tough foreign policy problems. Obama has been no different. When it comes to tough decisions, he has either waffled (Afghanistan, China) or stayed away from it. (North Korea, Iran) Honestly, only foreign policy accomplishment this administration has achieved is Obama kowtowing front of every leader he has met. At least he’s consistent with that.

  • antisocial

I would do almost anything to see this Vietnam hero in Iranian Jail.

and Jimmah Carter will be in charge of negotiating his release. Then when the Republicans win the majorities, they can tell the Irans to keep him too.
