FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

The 2010 RedState predictions thread.

Because we should have one, and because it’s going to be a heckuva year, to be sure. So allow me to start, after the fold:

Moe Lane:

  • Something called ‘health care reform’ will pass.  It will please neither party’s base; but the Republican base will be pleased with their legislators’ opposition, while the Democratic/progressive base will not.
  • The final health care rationing bill will have no public option, and language on abortion somewhere between Stupak’s and the Senate’s.  The final version will be scored by the NRLC as not being pro-choice.  Progressives will rightly consider the two events to be related.
  • ‘Card check’ will die in the Senate.
  • Cap-and-trade will quietly be smothered to death by the Democrats.
  • Gitmo will not close.
  • Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell will not be repealed.
  • DoMA will not be overturned.
  • FISA will not be abolished.
  • There will be a brutal spring/summer war in the left-blogosphere/activist community between Democratic progressives and progressive Democrats.
  • There will be at least one more successful terrorist attack on US soil.  Everyone will blame everybody else.
  • There will be credible documentary evidence that the USA’s resumption of rendition in 2009 resulted in the foreign torture of a terrorist suspect.
  • A warmer-than-usual summer will produce a series of articles on how global warming is back.
  • The Republicans will take back the House of Representatives in November.
  • Even if they don’t, Nancy Pelosi will not continue to be Speaker of the House.
  • The Senate will see a net gain of +6 for the GOP, including at least one upset.
  • Harry Reid will not continue to be Senate Majority Leader.
  • Steny Hoyer will get beaten by Charles Lollar, thus ensuring that Hoyer is not the only member of the Democratic leadership to survive the 2010 election with his or her power intact.
  • Iron Man 2 will rock.
  • Someone will buy me a Wii.  No, wait: that’s for the ‘pipe dreams for 2010′ thread.

I think the price of gasoline will again rear its ugly head by late summer if not earlier, exposing the administration?s unwillingness to tangibly secure any new sources of energy. A long time ago in another administration of the 70?s America had to endure almost 15 years of a national 55 mph speed law and recommended heating and cooling limits that did absolutely nothing to move us forward. We may see that again, along with the certainty of higher taxes and debt ceilings. Cap that with a certain confrontation with Iran and I?m really looking forward to this year?s election cycle in November as step one to hopefully vanquish these Marxists in seats held by so called ?moderate Democrats? in red states

Green Bay Packers will win the Super Bowl.

  • Wubbies World

I do believe that the civil war within the Republican Party will take a dramatic turn against the current leadership.

The Democrats are going to start behaving very moderate and dump the remaining stimulus money into the economy to win over the voters in hopes they forget this past year.

The Tarp / Stimulus slush fund gates will be unleashed to buy the election for the Democrats

I do believe that that the rise of fuel prices will be coming back and might stall the economic growth from all the stimulus spending. (uncertain)

Unemployment will remain stagnant at current levels with minor fluctuations.

    Dodd’s too.

I think Scott Brown has a 50/50 chance of pulling out a win but only if he starts to get some high profile endorsements and visitations on campaign swings and I mean like pronto.

Some NRSC cash would be nice too.
How about it Sen. Cornyn? Can you spare a few bucks for a conservative…?

I also predict that going through airport security will become almost intolerable as the TSA will punish millions of flyers to appear as if they are looking for terrorists with silly and ineffective security practices.

Israel will lay a smack down on Iran too. Obama will then condemn Israel.

The question is: How much longer will individual Democratic members be willing to contemplate electoral suicide so that President Obama can imagine himself pictured in the history books next to FDR rather than Bill Clinton Jimmy Carter the WORST president evah? And even if the Democrats can somehow squeeze their compromise legislation through both chambers in the face of strong public opposition, this question would still remain: Will the American people reward them with a return trip to Congress and the White House so that they can implement their overhaul sometime after the start of 2013?

    a>Taxes will go up.
    b>Health care Rationing will start.
c>Youth won’t like jail time and/or fines for not buying health insurance. Of course we will send them straight to WH.

That stuttering and bumbling traitorous gas bag Arlen Specter is gone too.

    1. The GOP will indeed gain a bunch of seats in Congress, and they will be good, principled conservatives until they regain power, after which they will get fat and happy and lose it again.

    2. Each monthly decrease in unemployment will be a direct result of Obama’s bold leadership and each monthly increase in unemployment will be a direct result of the failed policies of the Bush administration.

    3. Harry Reid will be ousted by the voters of Nevada. Even in his concession speech, he will manage to be a pompous jerk.

    4. At least 3 new vampire movies will be released. My wife will drag me to every one of them.

    5. The Yankees will win their 28th World Series title. A-Rod will move 40 closer to the lifetime home run record and Jeter will move 200 closer to the lifetime hits record.

In a huge upset in very blue Rhode Island, Congressman Patrick Kennedy will have worn out his welcome and be defeated. His public battles with addiction, and attacks on the Catholic church which have lead to his 37% approval rating means that State Legislator – Retired Army Colonel, Republican Jon Loughlin cruises to victory. www.johnloughlin.org

  • mriggio

Martha Coakley will win Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat.
Marco Rubio will be elected in Florida.
Alexi Giannoulias will win Obama’s Senate seat.
Harry Reid will not be re-elected; Dick Durbin (ugh!) will become Senate Majority Leader.
Barbara Boxer and John McCain will hold their seats in the Senate.
Republicans will re-take the House of Representatives, leadership will be feckless.
There will be a terrorist attack in the continental US with fatalities numbering in the hundreds.
Unemployment will range between 8-11% throughout the year; gas prices will approach $5.00/gallon.
The New York Times will declare bankruptcy.
A third-party presidential candidate will arise and gather strength with the help of ‘secret’ Democratic funding.
Iran will test a nuclear device; the administration will express regret and be disturbed.
Casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq will balloon; the Democrats in Congress will openly rebel against Administration war policies, demanding withdrawal and threatening funding.
Red State hits will double; new servers will be required.

  • Menlo

Republicans will make a net gain of one or two senate seats and one or two dozen House seats. There will be no drastic changes or surprises.

If anything called “health care reform” passes, it will look exactly like the current senate bill. Not much else of significance will pass Congress.

For the next Supreme Court term, we will see a new record low of cases granted cert.

  • reaganiterepublicanresistance

-and they won’t be trusted with the purse strings again for decades, if ever.

I would certainly agree with most of what you’re saying here, Moe-

ObamaCare is still far from a done-deal… and regardless, the political damage is substantial for the Left- they’ve succeeded in scaring the country half-to-death. Dear Leader has absolutely painted himself and his whole party into a corner with this ill-conceived statist power-grab… and it will most likely cripple his entire presidency.

Cap-n-tax? With the evidence looking weak lately, Obama?s own #s tanking? and 10% unemployment? Small wonder nervous Dems are begging him to 86 the bill already.

The only major legislation enacted has been the wholly-ineffective Porkulus. Obama has NO political cover on that fiscal flame-out… due to the paucity of GOP collaborators, he owns it.

But all this print-money scheme will ever stimulate is inflation? in the months leading right-up to midterms.

Today’s power-drunk Democrats are looking at a bloodbath next fall, with some predicting a 100 seat loss. By 2012, most people will wince at the very mention of the name ?Obama?- and the GOP could take 40 states running Gilbert Gottfried-

Party?s over kiddies- time to put the grownups back in charge…

    Hope so:

1 colts win the super bowl

2 Tea Party movement takes over the GOP

3 Sarah Palin rocks the MSM to it’s core.

    God help us hope not:

1 HC bill is worse than we think.

2 Obama declares the recession over, and passes out voter candy ($$$)

3 the GOP shoots itself in the foot, again, and doesn’t take the Tea Party movement at it’s word.

  • itrytobenice

    As are fuel prices.

The first will hurt the housing industry again and the Fed will be helpless to stop it because of inflation and difficulty selling Treasuries.

The second will smother any possibility of job growth in the cradle.

On a related front, the deficit will continue to spiral out of control, which will be the fault of George W. Bush, of course.

  • http://www.healthinsurance4utah.com utahhealthinsurance

Bob Bennett will be unseated as US Senator by a real Conservative named Mike Lee and Jim Matheson will turn his house seat over to a Republican named Morgan Philpot.

    1. Agree with others that gas will be $4-$5 per gallon, which of course will affect all goods & services. Obama declares oil co. evil- congressional hearings will be held. This is a “crisis” & an attempt will be made to nationalize the oil & gas industries.
    2. Hyperinflation will occur. Dollar will devalue & there will be shortages of food, etc. Another “crisis” & the military will be used to quell riots, particularly in the inner cities.
    3. Pakistan will become increasingly unstable & the threat that their nukes will fall into terrorists’ hands will become more likely. Obama will play another round of golf & Michelle will continue to buy more belts & cardigans.
    4. Republicans will retake the House & Dems remain in control of Senate.
    5. My daughter will get married
    6. My husband will still remain the funniest guy I know & will help keep me sane

  • Richard Mullins

    1. Farouk Shami will be the Democrats nominee for governor. Get’s massacred in the General election after finally show everyone he’s a Progressive
    2. The new mayor of Houston and the New Comptroller will be business as usual with a more Progressive stance than before
    3. KBH will stay on Senator even after lose the Primary for Governor. The pressure will on for her to step down and she’ll do it after much protest. The internal war for the Seat between David Dewhurst and Micheal Williams will be big(I wonder if Elizabeth Ames-Jones will send her money for the seat to Micheal Williams)

    That is all for now.

  • 6eorge Jetson

Republicans did not act like fiscal conservatives in the 109th Congress, they were just an order of magnitude less profilgate. (Yet, profilgate in the hundreds of billion dollar deficits.)

I don’t have confidence that the current Republican establishment would be able to handle electoral success. We need a critical mass of non-establishment, principled conservatives in Congress.

As to multiple decades, I’m afraid that the American memory is short. Note the complacency in regards to the war on terror that was blessed by the 2008 election just seven years after 9/11.

  • Third Street

Will net at least 60 House seats, losing only one of their own (Cao, LA-02).

There will be more Democrat defections in the wake of Parker Griffith.

Charles Djou will win the special election for HI-01.

GOP will hold all of its Senate seats. David Vitter wins re-election by 10 points or better. Rubio narrowly defeats Crist, goes on to trounce Meek. Arlen Specter defeated in primary, in a delicious irony. Boxer holds onto seat.

Obama gives Schwarzenegger all the money he wants. California continues to implode anyway.

  • Swamp_Yankee

the Boston Bruins win the Stanley Cup.

    Scott Brown wins.

    Second housing collapse.

The last season of Lost will dissappoint.

John Thune will emerge as the proverbial dark house

I get older, gain five pounds and become more cynical, colder and wiser.

    Harpoon IPA goes national

Libertarians movement will evaporate from its own anti-neoconism

Democrats will get a bounce when the tackle Wall Street

    5 – Senate seats

    36 – House seats

  • http://www.suvstrategery.blogspot.com SoFiMil

However, unlike the NY-23 special election in which the Democrat candidate was sworn in 3 days after the November 3rd election, Democrats will contest the results and file a court challenge, citing “irregularities” as their justification.

Despite the upcoming court challenge, the results in MA deeal a mortal blow to HCR and sends shock waves through the Democrat members of Congress. Exit polling shows that voters also punished Coakley for refusing to debate Brown one-on-one.

    TX:
    1. city of Houston will remain business as usual under new mayor.
    2. Hutch will not give up sen. seat. wins close reelection because of her texas gov. and senate 2 step.
    3. Texas state offices gain more gopers and Texas continues to lead the nation in jobs and growth as biggest conservative state.

    nation:
    1. both houses of congress gain some seats for the gop but neither change enough to get democrats to do anything more than let off the accelerator.
    2. healthcare passes – democrats sing praises all year and allows obama to help turn out votes in some states in 2010. dems scheme to make it govt care with as little fanfare as possible.
    3. obama and epa slowly creeps into gas and utilities over the next 3 years as cap and trade is a no go.
    4. terrorist explosion in europe ala england subway, US keeps getting close calls ala detroit flight.
    5. dems push immigration bill to get more permanent voters and divide right for 2010.
    6. unemployment drops to 9.5 w/ new year optimism then back over 10 as taxes increase, state taxes rise on businesses as budgets are missed and DC spending and budgets continue on.

-obviously, i’m a real pessimist; but i would think you would say all my calls are pretty realistic and despite all the tea partys this year, the effort is going to have to be 10 times what they did for anything to really change the paths the US has been on.
2010 will be up to America to show who it wants to be. I “hope” i’m proven wrong about it.

  • 1stRichard

I hope the rumors I am hearing are true. The liberal democrats have too many concerns over Martha Coakley abuse of power and are not enthused. The far left wants a stronger message supporting fully socialized healthcare ?Single Payer? and not the versions Martha Coakley is supporting. All the unions except SEIU are upset over the tax increases in healthcare Martha Coakley is supporting now. According to some in the Ron Paul camp that seem to have some infiltrators in to Martha Coakley?s camp they are seeing a lot of frustration over Martha Coakley on vacation. The Democratic Party is on vacation too and will not know what hit them, whom ever is running the show seems too busy reacting to Brown. Based on the number of stories and mostly unconfirmed reports Martha Coakley has lost touch with her base and needs to do too much campaigning there. Good part for Brown is that Martha Coakley is out of time and could never catch up in time to win. Martha Coakley would have to put every effort into her base and I do not see that happening. This is a win for Scot Brown

  • Illinicon

    - Coakley norrowly defeats Brown (47-43), but it will be just as good as a win for the GOP as it scares Bayh and Lincoln among others into the “no” camp on HCR.
    - Sen. Byrd passes away and Gov. Manchin appoints a moderate Republican as a figurative third hand digit to Obama’s treatment of the state.
-The purity movement in the GOP succeds as Eager and Rubio take nominations away from Bennett and Crist. Despite the fact that a woman and a Hispanic win these elections, the MSM and Grahamnesty will claim the party is nothing more than angry old white guys.
    - GOP holds its current seats in the Senate and gains the seats in AR ,CO, NV.
-Joe Sestak wins the Dem primary and the general election. Though it will emerge that ACORN and SEIU did some fishy things in Philly to steal it.
    - A major media personality will enter the NY senate race agnaist Gillibrand
-GOP eithers win the House back in a big wave (60+ seats) or falls a few seats short (33-37 seats won). Either way John Boehner is elected House Speaker as in a last ditch effort to survive the Blue Dogs decide to seperate themselves from the progressive left.
    - Robert Gates tries to resign as the Secdef, the hearings for his replacement (Wesley Clark) will get toxic making a scotus conformation look like a simple excerise of democracy. Gates takes back his resignation when Clark gets fillbustered.
    - Hilda Solis will resign as Labor Secertary in protest of the adminastration not being progressive enough. The nutroots encourge her to primary Barry in 2012.
-Hopefully every football game will be as exciting as the Outback Bowl
    -Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup
    - The Vikings and Chargers meet in their first of their back to back Superbowls. The Vikes win become the first to go back to back with two differant QBS. Kevin Kolb will guide them to the SB XXXXVI title.

  • NeoKong

True Democrats or anybody for that matter will not trust a traitor like him. I think he will get wiped out in the primary as the DNC knows he’s a loser for sure.
    They can’t risk it.

  • basalt_conservative

? There will be several more terrorist attacks (both foreign and domestic). This is the prediction I make most reluctantly, and dread most.
? Obama will fire Janet Napolitano in a pretend ?getting serious about terrorism? effort, but he will continue to degrade our capability in fighting terrorism.
? So-called Health Care Reform will pass, but public sentiment against it will grow as people (especially seniors and 18 ? 25 year olds) begin to realize the regulatory and tax burden it really is
? Several states, most likely including Texas, will refuse to cooperate with the Federal Government with so-called HCR. Especially, many states will simply refuse to raise taxes in order to fulfill Federal mandates.
    ? House ? Republicans will gain 47 seats, making a fairly narrow majority of 224 ? 211
? Senate ? Republicans gain 5 Senate seats
? NY-23 will be one of the Republican gains
? President ? Approval rating will continue to drop?down to at least 44%, but only if he tries to pretend to move to the right. A more significant drop if he openly continues to push his socialist agenda.
? Expect the Tea Party to gain more traction, perhaps putting up a few candidates in House elections under the Conservative party moniker. Libertarians might also stir things up a bit, but the passion is with the Tea Party.
? Republican Party organizations (specifically the NRCC and the NRSC) will not raise as much money as their Democrat counterparts, because conservative supporters will be directing their donations to individual campaigns instead. The supporters for the Democrats will get less and less value for their donations.
? ACORN ? More revelations will erode away their credibility, but expect them to retain most funding through this year
? MSM will become even more irrelevant?New media will fill in the empty space. New York Times, LA Times or some other major city newspaper will be defunct by the end of the year.
? Iran?s nuclear making capability will be destroyed by Israel. Expect the UN to stomp and curse and swear at and condemn Israel for its aggressive act. That?s pretty much all the UN will do, because secretly it will be relieved that someone had to courage to face down the Iranian regime.
? Climategate will continue to discredit so-called Global Warming/Climate Change, but billions in taxes will still be spent trying to defend this unscientific Ponzi scheme. Developing countries such as India and China won?t lift a finger to curtail their EEEEEVVVVVIIIIILLLLL ways.
? China?s economy will collapse (in spite of not lifting a finger to curtail its EEEEEVVVVVIIIIILLLLL ways). For one thing, you can?t build so much infrastructure without filling all those building with businesses and people. The US won?t be much better off.
? Iranian protesters will continue to be crushed while Obama looks away (on purpose), though he might make a few statements objecting to the crackdown?statements which move a few molecules in the air to make sound, but pretty much won?t move anything or anybody else.
    ? Castro will fade away
? Chavez will do the opposite
    ? General Motors will collapse
? Protests will grow over the Democrats? propping up of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac
? So-called ?unemployment? will be at or slightly below 11.5% (Real unemployment will be between 18 ? 20%).
? Related to that, the economy will slip back into recession. Obama will blame Bush (but only his hapless supporters will believe him)
? The Yankees will buy themselves another World Series
? The senior Senator from our state of Washington, ?Peppermint? Patty Murray, gets sent home following a devastating defeat by a strong Republican candidate (Okay, this one isn?t going to happen, but I can hope, can?t I?!)

  • renny

Big O will be so marginalized as to make him nothing but a photo op for three years.

Napolitano may need to spend more time with her family soon.

Seniors will vote in droves over the lack of cost of living increases in Soc. Sec. when Congress is giving itself a 2.7% cost of living increase.

Reps. may not take back the House and Senate, but will even up the numbers so that the progressive agenda is dead.

The ec. will continue to try to right itself but the overweening money supply will start kicking up inflation and businesses will still not hire on the grounds that the Obamanationcare is oppressive.

Global warming will continue to die a slow, strangling death as more reports like the comparison that finds no more CO2 is in the atmosphere than several hundred years ago appear (now that Mann and Jones cannot play Cerberus at the gates).

When it has the affiliates, FOX will overtake all of the network newses.

More czars like Jennings and Holdren will need to spend time with their families by spring.

Israel could attack Iran, and then the US Israeli lobby that has been neutered by Obamanation will come alive again.

Many hospitals and clinics will simply refuse Medicare patients…leaving millions STILL without health care.

    1. Some version of HCR will pass, it will probably look a lot like the Senate version, and as a result…
    2. Dems get annihilated in midterm elections
    3. Pelosi and Reid lose their majority positions, regardless of whether the Dems hold their majorities in the House or Senate.
    4. New Senate majority leader if GOP wins: Sen. Jim DeMint
    5. New Senate majority if DNC retains control: Sen. Dick Durbin
    6. If Dems lose control of both houses media will blame GOP for the continuing weak economy that will go into 2012 and possibly beyond.
    7. A slew of lawsuits happen in the wake of ObamaCare, centering on bribes and the individual insurance mandate. (Supreme Court overturns some aspects of ObamaCare and dilutes the legislation, but we still have a crappy health care policy)
    8. Reforming Obamacare becomes key issue of the 2010 congressional races and stays that way into 2012.
    9. Tea Parties spring up across nation this summer and are more intense than ever
    10. We will see inflation and unemployment will continue to be a problem.
    11. Stocks crash and lose value ending the current “economic recovery.”
    12. Obama will hit 49% approval in the spring, after the disastrous midterms he will be in the low 40s, he very well may be at 39 in late 2010.
    13. Iran gets the bomb and US morale goes down, much like it did when Carter had the Iranian hostage crisis.
    14. My beloved Iowa Hawkeyes win the Orange Bowl and my hometown Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup.

    1. Israel takes out Iran.
    2. Dems retain control of House and Senate but in numbers too small to pass legislation.
    3. Brown wins. (OK, it’s a hope not really a prediction)
    4. On December 31 I’ll still love my wife more than the day I married her, I’ll still have two fantastic sons and we will still be serving Franz Prince of Dogness.

My prediction – Obama keeps lying

  • basalt_conservative

But there are probably several more lies he spoke in that speech segment you showed…

  • tjexcite

There is an accident at some Iranian nuclear plant. Found to be a true accident and many leading scientists are killed. Israel is blamed even before the fall out has come down. The regime has a major civil war when the protesters get arms over video cameras. Also blamed on Israel and the US. even though they are Iranian make weapons make only for the army.

  • chbroussard

    1. Liberals will start to realize they’re going to get hammered and will begin to throw Obama under the bus. (Will blame it on Obama starting to act like Bush.)

    2. Another airline terrorist attack. (Will blame it on Bush’s bad policies, even though BO has had more than a year to change them and did nothing.)

    3. Dems will try to dismantle the 2nd Amendment. (Again Bush’s fault because he convinced us all that we’re cowboys so they have to do something.)

    4. Black conservatives win elections around the country. (Will be Bush’s fault, but not sure how they’ll spin that one.)

    5. Tea Party/912 groups will grow in numbers and strength, but not as a third party. Will instead begin to rid us of RINOs. (Will blame this on Bush’s ‘strategery.’)

    6. Hillary Clinton will resign and distance herself from BO. No way she’s going to let herself go down with this loser. (Of course, it was Bush who called her and recommended she save her own skin.)

    7. “The One” will begin to show an ugly side as he begins to get frustrated that his Messiah status is no longer in tact. (This one won’t be Bush’s fault. It will be an answer to my prayer for some Divine intervention.)

  • fortcollins

+ GOP retakes House, followed by a bitter internal power struggle between real conservatives and the status quo House “leadership.”
+ Several Iraq war veterans and political newcomers capture House seats, an event finally acknowledged by the “mainstream media.”
+ GOP gains 6 in the Senate and starts targeting a vulnerable and heavily Dem class in 2012 for a majority.
+ RINOs replace Dems in the statehouses in CO and WY.
+ Cap-and-Tax is DOA in the Senate, but the EPA mandates much of it by administrative regulation anyway, setting the stage for an epic election-year Supreme Court separation of powers battle.
+ Interest rates rise rapidly by mid-summer, resulting in another wave of foreclosures and bankruptcies. Unemployment hovers between 9% and 10%. Middle America experiences tax increases, noting that they earn less than $250K per year and that the President “promised” they wouldn’t pay more taxes. These facts aren’t forgotten by Election Day.
+ Tenth Amendment federalists, Tea Party activists, retirees, owners of small businesses, libertarians, social-moral conservatives, military conservatives, young conservatives, and Reagan Democrats and Independents rally to Sarah Palin, who becomes the 2012 frontrunner. Dems and their media fellow travelers react with even more fear and loathing, which endears Palin to middle America.
+ Distrust of the media sets new records.
    + Obama’s poll numbers descend to Pelosi-land.
+ By Election Day, self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals among Independents.

    Looking ahead ANOTHER year:
+ New House GOP leadership shows some guts by abolishing earmarks.
+ Conservatives in GOP press for House rule changes requiring germaneness of amendments, to eliminate pork and unfriendly riders.
+ GOP House forces budget showdown with White House, refusing to pass continuing resolutions and demanding a partially balanced budget (excluding debt service and entitlements). Government shutdown occurs, this time with the White House being blamed. Obama finally caves in and agrees to a partially balanced budget. Lack of administrative funding dismantles Obamacare.

  • wennejunk

    1. The world economic situation turns out to be not getting any better; at least two other countries teeter on the verge of default sending panicked money into the Dollar. This causes a dollar rally and commodities and the US stock market tumble 15-25% before March.

    2. At least 10 American cities declare bankruptcy. At least one will use the event to renegotiate its way out of union pension/benefit burdens setting the stage for massive court challenges.

    3. At least one more lone islamic extremist succeeds in his personal jihad against an American or European target.

    4. Obama bumper stickers quietly start coming off of his supporters’ vehicles.

    5. Another bailout bill is shoved down our throats.

    6. A non-islamic frustrated citizen takes matters into their own hands against a Federal or banking target. This non-lethal event receives more press than all real terror attacks combined and becomes the basis for an attempt to further infringe civil liberties and castigate conservatives.

    7. God will continue to show the world that man has no impact on the climate; climate change will continue to lose support among those with common sense. Politicians will continue to ignore both God and man. 2010 will be colder than 2009.

    8. John McCain will find a way to stab Conservatives in the back. Again.

    9. Unemployment will reach 11%

    10. The housing market in the hardest hit areas will begin to collapse again as prospective buyers catch on that hundreds of thousands of foreclosed properties are being held off the market by the banks in order to prop up prices. No one wants to pay current prices when they (rightly) suspect that prices will go down.

    11. Someone will throw a shoe/tomato/something at a Democratic politician during a town hall riot that begins after more SEIU goons rough up persistent questioners.

    No, I’m not an optimist.

The fragile economy will crumble under the weight of the the collapsing commercial real estate market and the rise of inflation. TARP 3 will be required. (Bush’s fault)

Gasoline will reach 4.00+ per gallon by Memorial Day (evil oil companies greed)

Seniors will begin to lose medical care as more physicians and facilities refuse Medicare (i.e. Mayo Clinic already doing so in AZ) and attempt to bank some profits before egregious govt health plan is in place. (Fault of the GOP for not allowing a public option and opposing HCR)

Lawsuits will ensue by the dozens challenging the Constitutionality of Obamacare. (Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman will weep and Glenn Beck will get to make fun of them.)

Conservatives will win in massive numbers in Nov-retake House w/Boehner as Speaker and Cantor as Whip
Senate will be split…McConnell will not be leader for GOP and McCain will be defeated. (The media will be surprised & suspect fraud and voter intimidation)

Obama will nominate another progressive Supreme Court nominee

There will be at least one deadly terrorist attack on American soil on or before 9/11/10. (Bush’s fault for making us hated by Muslims)

Conservative Americans will rise up in numbers never seen before…the media will be surprised and not cover it.

During 2010… the CRU will successfully prove that W. is the primary cause of plate tectonics. Our esteemed President will concur with this conclusion in the aftermath of a major mudslide in California, and afterwards? apologize profusely to the world for W’s vast earth-shattering transgressions.

Given Ben Nelson’s attempt to get Nebraska to no longer pay its own Medicaid bills, the rest of the Dems in both houses will cobble together a coalition sufficient to pass a bill to just give cash to their own states & districts.

NOT. If only we could expect behavior that was this partisan and provincial, yet relatively transparent.

Seriously though, something is going to give in a lot of big spending liberal states. How can Michigan and California possibly balance their budgets? There are minimal costs which are necessary to maintain public order now. If they find themselves legally incapable of reducing the costs of current and former employees and welfare programs, the prison systems may be on the chopping block. Maybe a lot of drug offenders will just move in with their mothers after release and not cause further problems, but a massive wave of parolees will have side effects.

but I would also add that by the mid year we will see real damaging inflation. Oil prices will soar again, and that will cause Obama and the epa to have to retreat.

In fact I think that the pressure for allowing new domestic oil drilling will be overwhelming.

I predict that in 2010, at least one nation, maybe more, will move away from gold as their monetary base…….. Really….. I’m not kidding.

They won’t say what they’ll go to or what will more than likely happen to their economy or banking system overnight the day of the official halt.

But that nation will still allow their citizens to own gold jewelry – just not gold for investments, value for safe-harbor, etc.

    ———————-

Well, whaddya know, my prediction is right……………..

Vietnam orders gold-trading floors shut by end-March.

    http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news-world/vietnam-orders-goldtrading-floors-shut-by-endmarch-20100102-lmgt.html

Vietnam, where many people see gold as a safe haven against economic uncertainty, has ordered public gold-trading floors shut by March 31 because they rest on a “fragile foundation”.

The order affects about 20 gold-trading houses operated by banks and other firms, which have been running for more than two years, the state-run Vietnam News reported.

Retailing of gold jewelery will still be allowed, it said.

    —————————-

My guess is the new trading base items in Vietnam will be a specific combination of brass, lead and ‘other’ materials, plus equipment for their use, along with assorted long-term storage food and bottled water.

    Lovely.

    Coincidence that “The Mentalist” show is on CBS? :}

If the Dems crash and burn next November, it is possible H. Clinton will resign and consider wresting away the nomination.

Last I read, she had a good amount of unused campaign cash still in a holding account.

I pray and predict that the tea party movement, National conservative movements and Republican National organizations will get whole heartily involved in the most important Senate Race in this century. Scott Brown in Mass. on Jan. 19. He will be the 41st Republican Senator, stopping health care. Wake UP Neighbors, We gotta win this one.to survice if we don’t win any thing else this year. Lee, a great conservative, would be SO much better than Bailout Bob yet Eagar has everything to offer Lee does and more: a long track record of speaking out in favor of conservative issues and her experience as businesswoman vs. another lawyer. Eagar’s been in this race many months and Lee who is unknown excepting being son of Rex would face an uphill battle in name recognition and fund raising.

    Thumbs up on Philpot!

Following passage of Obamacare in late January to early February, the topic will largely disappear from the mainstream media, except perhaps for a few human interest stories lambasting some big insurance companies. The various disruptions from the legislation will remain below the radar and/or dismissed as anecdotes or partisan griping.

Instead, though the unemployment numbers will increase in the spring, we will see a campaign of distraction to convince us that the economy is on the mend by fall 2010 with unemployment falling from, say, 12% to 11.5%, etc. including plain manipulation of government figures to make this case (coupled with uncritical media echoing). Corrections conveniently will be announced after November 2nd.

Alternatively (or perhaps jointly), we will see distractions on the terrorism/international stage that will take political discussion off domestic issues (including health care) – crises or perhaps another terrorist attack – just as the credit crisis of October 2008 almost completely wiped out discussion of foreign issues in that election. The intent will be make Obama look like a heroic leader and to rally people aroung the flag and staying the course with the current leadership. That is, the presence of this crisis atmosphere will short-circuit political campaigning, which will favor incumbents (i.e. Democrats).

56 Democrats will lose their house seats against only one Republican loss(Cao in Louisiana)
John Kasich will be elected governor in Ohio.
Benedict Arlen Specter will barely survive the primary ,but will be defeated by Pat Toomey by more than 5 points as Marco Rubio cruises in Florida and Republicans pick up 7 senate seats,
Israel will attack Iran as a fuming Obama is forced to send the fleet to open up oil traffic through the straits of Hormuz.
Conservative Sebastiian Pi?era will become Chile?s next president and emerge as a huge thorn in the side of Hugo Ch?vez.
Lula?s workers party will lose the October election in Brazil.
The Conservative party will win the election in the U.K ,but Cameron will prove to be no Margaret Thatcher.

Obviously I disagree with your analysis. I am trying to figure out how Cherilyn has name recognition, but that’s beside the point. And saying that Mike is just another lawyer is like saying Reagan was just another actor.

Mike Lee will show that when he announces, it’s going to be a steamroller of momentum. He will have the organization, the staff, the endorsements and the fundraising, not to mention, the best candidate as well.

But as I always say…the delegates are a smart bunch. They will definitely know who the best candidate will be and they will vote accordingly.

“?The Republicans will take back the House of Representatives in November.
?Even if they don?t, Nancy Pelosi will not continue to be Speaker of the House”

    Well which is it?

    And now my predictions:
?Republicans gain 2 Senate seats and 12 House seats.
?Tea Party activists wll lose steam.
?Conservative bloggers will sit at their keyboards but keep their money in their pockets and sit on the sidelines.
?Obama will swing more to the middle, alienating the far left but increasing his overall popularity.
?The economy will continues to recover slowly, but the downside will be a 150% increase in gas prices as demand grows.

George Soros will die and go to hell.
subsequent scrambling for his fortune will reveal that he was engaged in many shady practices.

Republicans will NOT regain either house of congress, but will have large enough groups in both to effectively block anything else the left wants to do.

Oil and OTHER prices will begin to soar by mid year crushing any beginning recovery.

In the wake of the global warming fiasco some people will begin to do some digging and will find out that the ozone hole and other environmental issues of the past were also deliberate frauds.

We will be drawn into a conflict with Iran, our debt will finally catch up with us as no one will buy our treasury notes. Obama’s support will sink to Jimmy Carter levels or lower.

There is a real possibility that if things get bad enough, and they see themselves losing, the Democrats will then try to introduce some sort of total federal control/martial law in an effort to realize their ultimate dream of a one party state.

I hope that parents and grandparents will get more involved in the education of their young people, to combat the creeping ignorance of US citizens. More private schooling, home schooling, and helping students with their work.
