Stu Rothenberg upgrades MA-SEN to ‘Toss-up.’

DOOM.

Late Democratic efforts to demonize Republican Scott Brown, to make the race into a partisan battle and to use the Kennedy name to drive Democratic voters to the polls could still work. But the advertising clutter in the race works against them, and voters often tune out late messages, which can seem desperate.

Reports that the Coakley campaign plans to counter this development by releasing a commercial showing their candidate strangling a puppy with an American flag have not been confirmed.

    Coffee out the nose good.

“Lean Dem”, Charlie? I don’t think so, buddy.

All her spice will belong to us!

…which is why I translate all of his “Lean Dem” races to “Tossup” status. Looking at his map with that in mind, things are looking downright apocalyptic for Democrats.

Insiders: Why does Stu Rothenberg matter? I only ask because I don’t know who he is…

I’d have thought Obama wants Coakley to win.

    So says Legal Insurrection.

Brown counters Coakley’s elitist attitude about standing in the cold and shaking hands by…. releasing a new ad with him standing in the cold and shaking hands.

    Pitch-perfect response.

Agreed: tears are running down my face!

    *******

Brown’s campaign is a model for how a campaign should be run the right way. With every ad they run, they’ve been upbeat, positive and spot on. They’re making Coakley look even worse than she is by not stooping to her level of negative campaigning.

The real clear politics polls didn’t look great. Only one favored Brown. And some commenter?s here aren’t so positive about winning. I think he’s got a real chance. There was a resurfacing today of a story on a convicted rapist that she previously let out without cash bail on his own recognizance…stuff like that fouled up Tsongas’s chances.

I think people who have an in need to tell him NOT to concede if it’s close. Fight it out. Dems are known for getting dead people to vote. Brown’s got the country relying on him. I live in NYC and I sent him money twice this week.

    That was, pessimists!

    Ace quips:

“I’m sure he thinks it’s a pro-Coakley ad. But since he’s promising that Scott Brown will stop cap and trade and ObamaCare, it’s almost like he’s taped this for Brown’s benefit.”

In MA we are being bombarded by negative adds from Team Coakley. I fear little old ladies might be swayed by these adds. Any idea if Oliar is coming to MA? Sing out with a story if he is coming as I vow to drive wherever and heckle him loudly about his campaign lies. It seems the only promise he plans to keep is closing Gitmo. What a disgrace to the office and to the people!
On another note I have been a victim of Coakley Push polling. I have been flooded with calls from her campaign and at first I was indignant, now I tie them on the phone for hours and when the conversation runs out of steam I announce “I am still on the fence but leaning her way. Could you or someone please call me tomorrow?” I get a different more talented arm twister each day. Ha Ha Ha the time they are on the phone we me has eliminated a bunch of calls to little old ladies scaring them out of their votes. I expect Martha will call me personally on Tuesday morning.
Everyone please keep fighting this battle with all of your passion and energy. With luck the Senate might actually be a two party system again before long.

Carpet cleaning companies used to call – eeek – at dinner.

At first, like you, we were indignant. Then, we started to take turns and hold them up for 45 minutes to an hour EACH, having them do their FULL pitch to each of us…only to be “disconnected” at the end.

    …Sad, really, how insensitive AT&T can be….

    Moe,
I just sent another contribution to Scott Brown .I understand that many others are doing the same.
It may not be DOOM for Coakley yet, but I?m sure that within the next 48 hours that she?ll be dialing 1-800 mandrake.
The important thing is that we peak on tuesday morning!

  • The_Gadfly

The first one on Tuesday morning.

Not sure when the second one will be, but if Brown does win on Tuesday the judge will set the date for the second peak event.
