FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Today is the day.

The polls are open in Massachusetts, and the usual reports of heavy early turnout have begun.  What men and women can do, we have done: it is now in the voters’ hands.  All that’s left is to ensure that today’s is a clean fight and a fair fight.

Scott Brown for Senate.

Legal Insurrection will be live-blogging throughout the day.

It’s lightly snowing in Boston. Don’t know what its like outside the city or what effect this has on turnout.

On the one hand, it might keep less enthused Coakley voters home. On the other hand, Boston has better public transit and more Coakley voters.

  • EagleWatcher

Walking around my little town in MA I’ve noticed several Scott Brown signs. Some are hand made. No Coakley signs.

It’s like being on another planet to see people in MA coming out in droves for a Republican.

  • ilgop24

    The suspense is killing me.

Also, check out CNN.com and MSNBC.com frontpage “coverage” of this seat. It’s laughable.

The shot that was heard around the world in 1775 is being followed by the election that tells the Obamunists that they are DONE. The Second American Revolution begins today with Scott Brown’s election and will end in November with a huge turnover in the House of Representatives. I’m a candidate from IL and I’m going against a PAC tool that doesn’t know how despised he is by the voters. I’m going to beat him just because he’s so arrogant that he thinks he’s unbeatable and plans to put his son in his seat in 2012. Not going to happen–my support is huge and growing every day and by November, the PAC/Special Interest Tool Costello won’t know what hit him. The people are coming in the 12th Illinois and I am leading the charge!

  • malbis

Nikatas3 has posted a really detailed, interesting report of what’s happening in western Massachusetts this morning.

It’s interesting how most of the news sites are already talking about the Dem finger-pointing and blame-shifting for the Coakley loss. And the new “combative” strategy that Obama plans–along with the determination of Pelosi to get health care passed.

Gosh, I sure do hope they don’t get all combative and assertive and insist on passing health care even after the way things are going today in Massachusetts. That would be just awful. Really terrible. I mean, Democrat digging in their heels and getting all stubborn and pushing through health care and stuff would be just like every conservative candidate this Fall being tossed in a big, old thorny Briar Patch. I sure hope they don’t do that to us. :-)

  • malbis

Except, I imagine that the Dems were counting on global warming to make it mild and sunny so that their GOTV effort would go better. :-)

Hey, after this election, you may be forced to change you ‘nym.

But I don’t think that’ll bother you, will it? *gr*

  • EagleWatcher

For the first time in my life I’m proud of Massachusetts (spelled correctly).

  • dwander

I’ve been really surprised at the lack of coverage by CNN. Do they think if they don’t cover the race that the nation won’t notice?

  • Trelaina

I’m keeping a positive attitude today. Things just look good and we need to believe in the fight.

Whatever happens we sent the message loud and clear – we CAN fight and we WILL fight. We know now what it takes…we just have to take that lesson with us into November (and beyond).

  • Trelaina

that people in the NorthEast are used enough to large snows to be able to travel to a polling place…if it is important to them.

  • USNJIMRET

    On a separate note……
I see on lots of sites the hope that Mr Brown wins by a sufficient margin to overcome the anticipated voter fraud.
How sad a commentary is it that this hope has become the norm, and that given the chance-Dem’s will put in place some kind of mandatory Universal Voter ‘Registration’ program that will dirty up the process even more.
As one of the most fundamental aspects of this Nation, the sanctity of the voting process should be, but increasingly is NOT, of paramount importance.
It’s kind of a ‘dry’ topic, I realize.
Unless one can convince others that their vote matters less then they might imagine, when countered by the shadow votes of the dead, illegals, and the sundry others that crop up more and more each cycle.
If ever a voter for the ultimate “loser” were to conclude that their ‘guy’ lost, with the resulting consequences, because some polling official ‘found’ a box a ballots in their car days after the polls closed, there might finally be a proper reaction.
But so long as there is no campaign, local OR National, to point out the problem, and a proposal that helps solve it, much of the country will continue to deal with the consequence of ‘elections’ that are more a court based selection, then a “will of the people” as expressed at the ballot box.

  • EagleWatcher

Take nothing for granted. Keep fighting until the polls close.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t a phobia an irrational fear of something?
So Brown must have an irrational fear of black homosexuals? No, no, I’ve got it–he’s irrationally afraid of black people and homosexuals. Just another example that ol’girl’s mouth is directly attached to his colon.

  • izoneguy

are directly tied into Obama’s agenda.

Once Obama’s agenda is destroyed the next three years for Bathtub boy look bleak indeed. NBC is already a laughing stock because of the way they have handled the Leno/Conan shows.
How much longer before NBC throws off the green monkey and decides it is a business and not a mouthpiece for socialist politicians?

I’m don’t know how reliable they are, but I’ve seen two reports at Boston.com Poll Watchers of SEUI and ACORN presence at the polls.

    NAME: Salvatore
    VOTED AT:

    VOTED FOR: Didn’t say
    HOW CROWDED:

OTHER COMMENTS: What the heck is going on? SEIU and ACORN thugs are out in force. The Boston police need to make an appearance. They are trying to strong-arm people to vote for Coakley.

    VOTED FOR: Joseph Kennedy (Lib)
    HOW CROWDED: Average, at best.

OTHER COMMENTS: People with SEIU shirts are standing with people from ACORN shirts. They are trying to intimidate voters to pick Martha Coakley. I’ve taken pictures and will be sending to the Justice Department, Boston Police, and Dem and Rep National Committees.

Dems got everything they wanted today, snow to scare off Republican voters, AG running against small town Senator, and they blow it. Huge turnout in my precinct and I’m loving it.

  • izoneguy

will only make MORE people vote for Brown.

Remember – the union thugs are the ones that want to do away with secret ballots when voting for unions. Next they want to do away with secret ballots for all American voters.

  • jackbenimble

It seems like you are rooting for Obamacare to pass because you think it will give the GOP an electoral advantage next November?

I agree that it would be a bad move for the Democrats and would help Republicans but I am not willing to see our healthcare system destroyed just so the GOP can re-take Congress. I have little faith that Republicans could repeal Obamacare or, based on their performance in the last decade, would even seriously try.

I would way rather stop Obamacare and then run on the basis of that achievement.

Just another example that ol?girl?s mouth is directly attached to his colon.

There seems to be some sort of gender mismatch between “girl” and “his”. Are you referring to a she-male with female face and lips and a male butt and colon sucking on themself? Or are you referring to two different people where some girl has her lips attached to some other guy’s colon. You left me confused.

Insert Crist, Carly, and any other moderate that the NRSC chose to help rather than supporting Brown early on.

500000 dispersed in installments isn’t really all that much. Heck the grassroots raised 1.3 million for Brown in a day.

The NRSC doesn’t deserve any credit if Brown wins.

  • finallyhadenuff

If we were to all call the number in this section of your link:

    3) Steven Ertelt at LifeNews.com reports that phony calls are telling Massachusetts voters that MA Citizens for Life opposes Brown. Not true.
Behind in the polls to Republican Senate candidate Scott brown, supporters of pro-abortion candidate Martha Coakley have evidentially reached into their bag of dirty tricks. A Washington, D.C. based company is making calls to Massachusetts residents pretending to represent a prominent pro-life group.
The calls, from 202-461-3441, a Washington number registered to a company called SOOH, claim to be from Massachusetts Citizens for Life.
The caller claims the pro-life group is opposing Scott brown because of his stance against the health care bill, but as MCFL president Anne Fox told LifeNews.com late Monday, the opposite is true.
?Pro-lifers are receiving phone calls from people claiming to be Massachusetts Citizens for Life. The callers say that MCFL is not supporting Scott Brown because of his position on health care,? she said. ?The truth is that Massachusetts Citizens for Life is supporting Brown because of his position on health care.?
The same number is also making calls to other state residents with various messages all attacking Brown.
?Pro-lifers are not the only victims of this scam. Our MCFL sleuths have found that this same number is calling people across the state claiming to be different groups with different messages ? all anti-Brown,? Fox added.
Fox is hoping to get the message out to voters today that MCFL supports Brown and wants Coakley defeated because she is an extreme pro-abortion candidate.

and ask them to kindly stop spreading falsehoods, wouldn’t it keep them too busy to be able to call any more MA voters? Or is that something that may get us into trouble?

No idea how accurate it is as we discussed in a prior thread, but Coakley’s nurmbers are dropping like a rock. It was at 36 around 11am ET, now at 1:25 it is 25.

Brown has gone from 62.5 to 73.5 in the same time frame.

IF Healthcare is, indeed, the defining mandate of Obama’s presidency, then why did he not (1) send his own legislation to The Hill, (2) allow its passage to come down the results of ONE special election, and (3) make sure that election was not even close?

    My answers:

    1. He has no idea how to even write legislation. Not a clue.

    2. He’s been too busy on his apology tours, etc., and he totally failed to read the momentum of public opinion against his healthcare agenda.

    3. His political instincts appear to have deserted him, and the “he walks on water” spell appears to have broken. His political handlers have been believing their own spin and taking way too much for granted. Pride goeth before a fall.

My mother is a Democrat and said normally she wouldn’t go out to vote but this vote was too important.

Of course, she was voting for Brown. She told me that she is now going to register as unenrolled (independant) as the Democrats aren’t who they used to be. Also her sisters are all pretty much leaving the Democrat party.

So, Expect the snow to probably help more than hurt.
