Reviewing the December Fundraising Numbers.

It’s that time again. Short version: RNC above DNC, DNC took a big cash on hand hit, NRSC over DSCC in the biggest shocker, NRCC/DCCC more or less the same, DCCC has a big CoH advantage, and blessed if I know how much any of this means, post-Citizens’ United and post-Brown.

Raised CoH Debts
RNC 6.84 8.42 0.00
DNC 4.54 8.67 4.69
NRSC 4.10 8.30 0.00
DSCC 3.40 12.50 1.20
NRCC 3.21 2.67 0.00
DCCC 3.81 16.69 2.00
GOP 14.15 19.39 0.00
Dem 11.75 37.86 7.89

As I mentioned about a week ago, I’m not really sure how relevant it is to look at these numbers any more. I’ve always considered keeping tab of the current totals to be the most important thing about the exercise, from the pragmatic point of view that this would help determine what the two parties were capable of accomplishing at any given time. Well, after the CU case (which may be just the start of rolling back McCain/Feingold) it’s going to get easier to fund candidates; and judging from the Democrats’ track record these days* they may not be really able to do anything with the money they have. So, do we still look at this?

I’m not trying to be cute about this, by the way. I honestly don’t know how useful this is going to be to look at in 2010.

*Since Election Night 2009 their national record is as follows:

Races Gains Losses Kept Net
House 7 1 1 4 0
Senate 2 0 1 0 -1
Governor 2 0 2 0 -2

They spent a lot of money doing that, too. Particularly in the MA Senate race.

I am very concerned about the RNC and NRCC fundraising even a lot House candidates that have been propped up had very weak fundraising last year ( stories were at CQ, The Hill and Roll call if people want names)

Its very likely our House Candidate will all be outspent which I don’t think has happened past few cycles ( even though we lost a lot)

.. but yes, it matters less than it did. Maybe follow it for the rest of 2010 and see if there’s any interesting correlations that jump out?

It’s going to be about message, and there are so many other ways to get the message out now than before, not all of them costing a lot of money.

As soon as I saw the title of this article I had the question – but you answered it already – “and blessed if I know how much any of this means, post-Citizens? United and post-Brown.”

That is a big question with regards to fundraising now. Like I’ve said before, thanks to that decision by the Supreme Court it doesn’t matter if the DNC outraises the RNC five to one. I would love to see an in-depth article on the fundraising aspects of the Citizens United case. Of course that would have to come from someone with a lot more legal/inside-baseball knowledge than me. Which, all things considered, is just bout anyone.

Dissatisfaction with Democrats does not mean satisfaction with Republicans. There is not much trust to be had for either party. They need to start SAYING the right things, consistently, and then, most importantly, DOING the right things consistently.

In the past year they have been quite good at avoiding the ‘rope-a-dope’ strategy of the Dems. Only time will tell whether they can avoid a relapse.

Well, RNC GOP and all the rest can take a hike, I will not support them as they are not supporting me.
Backing of RHINOS is infuriating to me and I would rather direct contribute to those who are best suited to represent me personally.
Here I see RedState taking a lead on this very support method and I extend my thanks.
Some jobs you just have to do yourself….

The d-crat socialists have a massive 37.86 M in CoH, vs. the Repubs 19.39 M
The difference really isn’t particularly significant when you consider that it takes MUCH more in marketing dollars to get Americans to eat TOXIC WASTE than to get them to dine on FILET MIGNON.
