FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Meet Charles Djou (R CAND, HI-01).

Not a CPAC video, but Councilman Djou was within video range yesterday for just enough time for me to stop by and have a quick talk with him about the HI-01 election. Executive summary: he’s got a good shot at it. He’s the only Republican in a field of three (the other two are Democrats sniping at each other); his district performed pretty strongly for Bush and Lingle (and his Councilman’s District is inside HI-01, too); and his fundraising has been good. Djou’s site is here: check him out.

In person? Smart guy, strong on fiscal conservatism, in it to win it. And endlessly patient when it comes to explaining the local intricacies of Hawaiian elections.

    Thanks Moe

Keep in mind while Obama won that district ( over 70% in 08 Bush received 47% in 04 all Dems and Djou are on same ballot whoever gets most votes wins)

us picking this seat up, Massa’s and Murther’s will make steamroll in November gigantic and scare a lot Dems and possibly cause some last minute people to retire

Case has held a seat from here before and is a moderate by Hawaii standards which isn’t saying much. Hanabusa would be a 100% Pelosi party line vote.

If Djou can pull this off in a three way race he may very well hold this seat in November.

much of a moderate. Ed Case was there when my dad got transferred to NAS Memphis in 1988(my dad’s retired navy and I had to live there after moving from Suburban DC[going from bad to worse]). I hope Djou does win so they can send a message to the Dems.

Djou is pro-choice and pro-gay rights. Not exactly the type of R that people are looking for in DC.

    in HI????

I don’t know anything about politics in HI, other than it would appear that it’s just a tad to left of California. Your Republican Governor is certainly no stellar conservative, she’s along the lines of Arnie, McCain and Crist.

    So, who’s there to run?

  • alohaboy

why doesn’t anyone catch on to djou. he is pro-choice, pro-gay rights, and wont sign the healthcare repeal pledge. he is a RINO.

  • alohaboy

he also wont sign the HC repeal pledge

I asked you a question. Your failure to answer says it all.
