Well, here’s my Dana Walsh interview:
If my intro above the video sounds flat, it’s not because Dana is running in Nancy Pelosi’s district. Having a candidate willing to speak truth to power in Madame Speaker’s home district is actually good news for the party and for conservatism; we need to contest these seats, and sometimes everything lines up for a challenger. Dana’s a small business owner – the kind that will be steadily-more-squeezed by the health care monstrosity – and she’s not afraid to be a pro-War on Terror candidate in San Francisco. That’s worth respecting right there.
No, why the intro sounding flat is because it took me a day to get that audio into something that could charitably be said to maybe approach being in usable form. Because I don’t have the equipment, the skill set, or the paid support network to handle video and audio problems – so when something goes wrong, which it did here, I had to pound my head against the computer until maybe something kind of worked. To put it another way (and to paraphrase Harry Turtledove), I sometimes don’t feel like I’m expected to make bricks without straw; I’m expected to make bricks without clay.
The online wing of the VRWC does not need more think tanks, institutes, or even innovative social media network websites. It needs a bloody IT department. But that costs money, and is not sexy.
OK, rant over.

Today, there is a name for the political doctrine that rejoices in scarcity of everything except government. The name is environmentalism.
Bummer.
MathMom Friday, March 26th at 3:14PM EDT (link)Can barely hear her. Was this interview by phone? You need a few rather inexpensive pieces of equipment.
1) Olympus Digital Voice Recorder w/embeddedUSB connector such as this
2) Radio Shack Wireless Phone Recording Controller, Cat No. 17-855
3) Two handsets from a wireless phone such as those made by Panasonic
4) A few AAA batteries
5) A computer.
Put AAA batteries into the Radio Shack Wireless Phone Recording Controller and the Olympus Digital Voice Recorder. Attach the Phone Recording Controller’s small jack to the headset socket on one cordless phone. Attach the larger jack to the MIC socket on the Digital Voice Recorder. Turn on Phone Recording Controller and Digital Voice Recorder.
Make phone call on second phone. When connection is made, turn on TALK button on the first phone which attached to the above described apparatus. Press MUTE button on phone. Press RECORD on the Digital Voice Recorder. Watch for the UV meter to make sure you’re recording.
Do interview, hang up.
Turn off Digital Voice Recorder and Phone Recording Controller. Pull apart Digital Voice Recorder to expose USB jack. Upload recording to computer (WMA format), and listen to it, convert it to MP3 or CD, burn it to CD, email it, or delete it. But at least you’ll get good a recording. And just for good measure, buy the little lavalier mic for the Digital Voice Recorder for if you’re interviewing someone in person. Heck, get two of them, and two Digital Voice Recorders. Put them together in Audacity, and you’ll have good quality sound, cheap.
Can you interview her again?

donnybrooke Saturday, March 27th at 1:52PM EDT (link)Neil,
I hope you realize that this is not serious. God fobid any sort of disaster to happen that would cause such pain and suffering.
Still, building a major city on a major seismic fault is not sensible.
Same goes for Memphis and other cities along the New Madrid fault.
What do we do when we know something is going to happen?

Dana Walsh ran in 2008 - she recieved 9.2% of the vote.
nfloridapatriot (Diary) Monday, March 29th at 6:01PM EDT (link)2008 Vote totals courtesy of CQ Politics:
Nancy Pelosi (D) 128,148 71.6%
Cindy Sheehan (I) 30,344 17%
Dana Walsh (R) 16,408 9.2%
Philip Berg (LIBERT) 4,074 2.3%
Dana’s 9.2% was less than the 9.5% of registered Republicans in the district, and the lowest vote total of any Republican running against Nancy Pelosi.
There is another candidate in this race, John Dennis. John Dennis is an accomplished conservative businessman and entrepreneur. Of the San Francisco Republican County Executive Committee members eligible to endorse, all have endorsed John Dennis. Jim Anderer said “If our party rallies around John, we may have an historic upset in the making.” Chief of Police and Republican leader Tony Ribera, Bay Area Republican leader Leo Lacayo, former San Francisco Supervisor Tony Hall, and the iconic Barry Goldwater Jr. have also endorsed John Dennis.
A new WND/Wenzell poll just released has Dennis at 22%, and SF voters largely do not know him yet. Pelosi has never had a Republican challenger poll higher than 18%. Most of us likely disagree with Mr. Dennis on his Paulish foreign policy positions, but here’s why I support him regardless –
1 – The precarious economic state of our nation due to our deficit, debt, and government largess. It is imperative we elect strict fiscal conservatives who believe in limited government where ever possible – to me it trumps all other issues. If the federal government continues on the path it’s on, it won’t matter if you and I believe the war on terror needs to be aggressively waged with every available tool, because we simply won’t have the money to fight it. John Dennis is hands down the fiscal conservative in this race.
2 – John Dennis fits this district – or – The reality of San Francisco and other very liberal urban areas. Libertarian Republicans like John Dennis can win support of these urban areas that the GOP has long written off. On these social issues that he can connect with voters there, I’d rather deal with a libertarian Republican who believes the U.S. Constitution says what it means, than a liberal like Pelosi. As an example, in conversation I’ve had with Mr. Dennis, he believes that the federal government has no authority to legalize abortion due to the 10th Amendment, and that it is a State issue. Contrast that with the liberal view that the federal government can do Anything they want it to.
3 – I believe that with traditional Reagan conservative Republican candidates running in the Statewide races and rural/suburban districts – along with the libertarian Republicans in urban areas long written off as too liberal to compete in, we have a winning coalition to take back America. Not just for a few years, but a chance to remove liberals from power for the rest of our lifetimes with a stake though the heart of the progressive movement with the rise of these libertarian Republicans behind their castle walls.
4 – John Dennis has the organization, money, drive and momentum to potentially knock the Speaker of the House right into the unemployment line,
That’s reason enough for me.
