What to take away from this Rasmussen AZ-GOV poll.

The very short version: all four GOP candidates for Governor beat the likely Democratic nominee. The hidden message: Arizona voters don’t like the Democrats’ health care debacle.

Over the past month, despite even higher opposition to the new national health care plan in Arizona than is found nationally, [state AG General Terry] Goddard has refused to join other state attorneys general in suing to stop the plan from becoming law. He argues that the suit will be unsuccessful and is a waste of taxpayer money. [Republican governor Jan] Brewer has gone ahead with a lawsuit anyway, delegating the legal work to her general counsel.

Now Brewer, who became governor when Janet Napolitano moved to Washington to be secretary of Homeland Security and has been plagued with severe budget problems ever since, earns 44% to Goddard’s 40%. A month ago, Goddard posted a 45% to 36% lead over the governor. were virtually tied in January.

Which should surprise nobody, but probably will. Ach, well, maybe May will see the sudden blossoming of support by the American people for a scheme that threatens to extend governmental control over 1/6th of the economy.

I am still concerned about this Republican Primary here and in NV Gov Race

I wish Gibbons didn’t seek reelection in NV and in here I think new blood is still needed.

Rasmussen has poll on Republican Primary it is interesting

    Brewer
    26%
    Martin
    12%
    Mills
    18%
    Munger
    14%
    Some other candidate
    6%

especially if conservatives don’t concentrate behind one or two of the candidates. Brewer could potentially win a Republican primary (the horror) if the race remains a 4 way split. Her name recognition alone and status as current Governor will get her 25%, where she sits now…

She needs to go. Perhaps she and McCain can vacation together!!!

Brewer had to clean up the mess left by Napolitano. Dems frequently leave a mess to be cleaned up.

I actually kind of hope she’ll veto the illegals bill, because I think it would absolutely finish her in the primary. Unfortunately, I doubt her handlers are dumb enough to let pull a “Crist”.

Anyway, Brewer has got to be taken down, or I think this is a likely Dem Gov. pick up (perhaps the *only* one!!) in November…

Brewer in the primary. She lost me me in her push for increasing state sales tax to help overcome budget deficits. I just don’t know enough about Martin except for the back and forth he’s already had with Brewer. Munger is mostly saying all the right things and has me a bit intrigued.

in the primary is to become an elected precinct committeeman and get every conservative you know to do the same and then walk your precinct and make sure you get every conservative in your precinct to make sure they vote for the BEST of the conservative candidates in the race.

You have until May 26 to get your ten signatures submitted to the County Recorder.

It’s not hard to become a PC:

    http://www.redstate.com/coldwarrior/2010/04/01/whew-just-finished-getting-my-signatures-to-stand-for-election-as-a-pc/

Also, see the link to my little blog below.

Becoming precinct committeemen INSIDE the Party is THE way for conservatives to transform the Republican Party into what its Platform declares it to be: a conservative Party. If we UNITE inside it we can transform the Party into a conservative powerhouse, as HALF the PC slots are vacant nationwide. Conservatives lost the Party when they ceded the ball field of politics — the local Party committees — to the RINOs who DID show up for the meetings.

If YOU want a more conservative GOP, writing about it won’t make it happen. YOU actually have to get to your local GOP committee meeting and actually become a “card carrying member” of the Party.

If you haven’t already become a PC, I hope you will ASAP.

    Thank you.

Conservatives, UNITE! CHANGE the Republican Party and the world by UNITING INSIDE the Party as precinct committeemen. NOW!

I’m also in the ‘anybody but brewer’ crowd. Mills looks like the best bet to oust her based on this poll and based on the 30 minutes I just spent looking into him, he seems like a great candidate to me. Does anyone have a compelling reason not to coalesce around him?

The “problem” isn’t “the mess”. The problem is that Brewer wouldn’t know leadership if it fell on her. She was SoS and got elevated to Gov when Janet went East. The two jobs are not compatible in terms of the kind of people who fill them, Janet is the fourth (in recent history) SoS to be elevated and they’ve all been disasters, and they’ve come from both parties.

One of our problems is no LtGov.

The SoS was supposed to be the head ‘crat in charge of all the infrastructure functions like personnel, finance, budget, and procurement. Same problem here too. We changed it by constitutional amendment to a Lt. Gov/Running Mate, though the Gov candidate doesn’t get to pick the running mate and we’ve had some teams that definitely did not pull together. Now the Lt. Gov. runs the division of elections and tries not to lose the State Seal and otherwise hangs around just in case the Gov gets a hot book deal. The Commissioner of Administration now has all the infrastructure plus all the stuff that nobody can figure out where to put. We used to call it the Department of Stuff.

as soon as we get moved this weekend I will work on becoming a precint commiteeman. We are moving from Maricopa county to Pinal county. We are moving to a city that is split district between Flake and Grajalva. We got stuck with Grajalva as our congressman…Ugghh. I guess I have my work cut out there too.

I’m no fan of increasing government headcount but this situation is just freaking stupid. The SoS in AZ isn’t even the head ‘crat, s/he is just a high level admin manager.
