FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Gov. Perry invites Politico to either give the source…

…that Politico used to back up its repeating of anonymous internal sniping from Perry’s campaign; or else to kindly shut up:

Partial transcript at the link. One of the nice things about being a Perry supporter is that his contempt for the DC establishment – which Politico most assuredly is a member of at this point – is never particularly in doubt. I’m also reasonably sure that at this moment Perry is making his staffers understand that anonymous talking out of turn to hostile media sources is a perk for other campaigns, not his. After 2008, that’s a selling point right there.

Giving some push back to the media will only help him. I think this is the best non-answer that a candidate can give. Watching the video he didn’t do a roundabout confirmation and stayed as confrontational as you can with a smile on your face and shutting down that line of thought.

Perry did some nice interviews this morning, I have to say. The Politico argument only hurts against people that are ‘insiders’…most voters don’t care. And I agree, media pushback always helps.

The problem is, I think Perry has run out of time. Santorum would fall if there was another week or so, but the trend lines are not promising to change the curve by tomorrow.

  • RealQuiet

Perry did a nice job here.

neo, if this was a primary, I’d agree with you. However, Perry has a huge precinct leader and volunteer organization in Iowa. Having this size of a loyal and enthusiastic base is very important in persuading caucus voters to changing their minds and voting for Perry. We’ll see how this translates tomorrow night.

  • nuclear139

I hope Perry can pull out a win in Iowa but if not Santorum needs to win so that Romney could be denied a victory. A Santorum win may open up the race and allow Perry to take South Carolina and possibly Florida we’ll have to wait and see if this happens tomorrow.

  • pttx333

Mike Allen/Politico a good one! That’s my guy, and he does it well. Love, love, love this one!

    ;-)

  • Tbone

Assuming disembowelment is not an option.

  • Scope

when Wallace interviewed him yesterday. Wallace brought up the politico piece and asked Perry about it. Perry asked Wallace who was named in the article, and Wallace just said it was a Sr. staffer. Perry replied, get back to me when you have a name.

  • pttx333

simply magnificent? Man, he’s handing some heads back on silver platters, huh. It is absolutely hilarious, and he does it with such dignity and forthrightness. LOL ;-)

Mitt Fit as in “thin-skinned and prickly”

“That?s the term the Democratic National Committee is using to refer to moments when Mitt Romney loses his cool in public ? an occasional occurrence the DNC highlights in a web video out this morning.

?Usually Mitt Romney tries to play it cool,? the narrator says. ?But when things get heated, his temperature rises and boils over into what we call a ?Mitt fit.?? ”

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/01/todays-coinage-mitt-fit-109292.html

has an embed of the top 5 Mitt Fits.
#5 and #1 are from that “For pete’s Sake” exchange with Gov. Perry :)

Anyone want to help DemRapidResponse make this one go viral, here is the Youtube URL:

  • pttx333

Wonder what kind of fit Mitt threw when he saw this. HAHAHA

  • http://www.changeforrickperry.org louisianapatriette

and heard the “Have at it.” I’m amazed every time I watch it–it’s amazing how unglued Romney gets in that video! “I am speaking, I am speaking…ANDERSON!!! Look, I get to talk and then you get to talk, those are the rules.” What does he think Perry is, a kindergartener? Everybody else got to interrupt in those debates except Perry. When nobody else follows the rules why should he???

Oh well. (*smiling again*) I’m too encouraged by all the reports coming out of Iowa to be TOO mad at Mitt Romney. Peace on RedState and goodwill to all men!

So glad Perry smacked down the Politico reporter. It’s about time someone put those liberals in their place! When he becomes president they’re going to be having hissy fits 24/7.

  • http://www.changeforrickperry.org louisianapatriette

Ain’t it wonderful? I’m pumped today, totally excited about tomorrow and the whole new year! Got back to my normal routine today, too, which adds so much structure (I loooove structure) and therefore peace in our house! It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, it’s cold outside, and Governor Perry is on a roll. What more could you want?

  • pttx333

back here on RS and catching up on everything. Yeppers, I do better with some structure also – I really, really need a reason to get up out of bed each day and say “Hallelujah, what a great day!”

Looks like our Rick handed two heads back on silver platters – Wallace and that Mike Allen w/Politico. I’m still giggling about those two episodes – they were done to perfection!

Yee haw, praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

  • Common_Cents

the media is passive aggressive, when confronted, they fold quickly.

We complain and talk so much about biased media, but R leadership has no strategy or attempt to combat it. Dumbfounding to me.

  • texasroots

hit them with your best shot! That’s the Perry I want to see. If we could get rid of the cocktail party GOP establishment for enabling the leftists and drive-by media, we win. It’s about time someone slapped the lying Politico bunch and that creepy Wallace. They are so repulsive.

  • romansdaughter

Yes, even Texas Tribune seems to be awed by the Perry Team, Strike Force and Perry Posse out there in Iowa. Usually they don’t seem to have too much good to say about their Governor. I take it Texas Tribune must be liberal. Since I am not from Texas, I am assuming but it doesn’t seem very conservative. I think Rick Perry is getting on top of his game now and I am sure praying for him.

  • deVere

    He’s the man we need.

  • pttx333

today. Yep, Perry’s out there being who he is – just givin’ ‘em hell, he is. And he does it in such a way that there is absolutely no doubt about how he feels – that’s him!

Boy, I was up and down all night trying to catch up on the doings here at RS and am pooped. Think I’ll go take a nap so I can do it again! More fun!

I am so glad to be back to a somewhat normal routine and that the holidays are over. As happy as I am to go through them, I’m sure happy when they’re gone. Guess old age has just taken over. LOL

  • romansdaughter

LOL, Mike Allen was gulping there at the end. Way to go Rick Perry that shut him up.

  • pttx333

to the max, ‘daughter! Our guy is on a roll and knocking ‘em dead … that is just who he is. And he is hilarious to boot – has a great sense of humor. Even the old “Adios, Mofo” video that was posted here today is funny to me. If you’re not familiar with it, Perry said that to a very pesty, snarky reporter a few years back and it was accidentally caught on a mic. Yeah, I’m a senior citizen, but I still think it is funny.

Yep, the Texas Tribune is a very liberal rag out of UT, I think, that hates Perry, but I haven’t heard about their being in awe of Perry’s bunch. Well, they oughta be, dagnabitall – Perry and ALL of his posse are not something to be taken lightly. How ’bout that?

This old gal has been up and down for the past two nights trying to play RS catch-up, so I’m going to peel off for a while and take a nice, long nap. Why, you ask? Well, because I can! ;-)

    Later, my friends!

  • texasroots

in Perry, Iowa. Yes, Perry was great with that cockroach, Mike Allen, who is a lying weasel. I know he did not expect Perry to ask for the name, ha! ha! Sock it to them, Rick Perry, like only you can!

  • mikeymike143

they get their marching orders from the DNC

  • APA Guy

    ARROGANT

Not only does he reek of it, but he has the same spoiled, entitled mindset that wrinkles up its nose any time anyone DARES question THEM on their positions. Haven’t we had enough of that in the White House these past 4 years?

The similarities are so striking, I’m really wondering exactly how many of the 25% who claim to support Romney are actually Republicans. I can’t imagine any conservative CHOOSING to support this guy when there are other more deserving candidates in the race.

  • romansdaughter

But am I really seeing Fox News in the background? I didn’t think FOX News would show something like that??? They seem to be shilling for Mitt. Yep, I can see Willard’s face right now having a big fit while watching this. LOL.

  • romansdaughter

I totally agree that is what I see too, both Obama and Mitt are really arrogant. They think they are really something. Do we really want to see Mitt up against Obama….I sure don’t and pray that it will not happen.
So this is an advertizement from the Democrats…it kind of good…it makes Perry stand out. Of course I may be bias. Smile.

  • thurman

The media attack will be bloody and vicious– we need someone with the edginess and gravitas to put these LSM dirtbags in their place just like this

IMHO, Gingrich’s surge was largely because of his perfectly placed undressings of the ridiculous mediators in the debates. I found myself cheering at home each time he did it.

And for the record, Politico used to be worth reading but are fully in the DNC tank now, it’s pathetic. Their well-documented obsession with Herman Cain’s accusations was where they finally tipped their hand and showed their true bias once and for all. It’s not a coincidence their traffic has plummeted since then.

  • http://www.changeforrickperry.org louisianapatriette

(got it for Christmas :D ) and he mentions that incident. Says it was very rude of him and completely opposite of everything he was taught as a Boy Scout. I was glad to hear he was repentant of saying it–after all, it was…not nice. Isn’t he great like that, being able to admit when he was wrong? That’s one of the things that stands out for me about him–always has, always will!

  • pttx333

bless his heart, I don’t know what took him so long. Some of the press has been so horribly brutal to him. That is what is so great – he’s just a human with normal limits.

Boy, just got up from my nap and am now groggy! Guess I slept a marathon! LOL

  • tomatin

I started to read the story about the Perry campaign and it was one of the biggest pieces of trash I’ve ever seen.

  • http://edgeinducedcohesion.wordpress.com nathanalbright

…and I’m pretty sure that Perry had a serious conversation with senior staffers about realizing what team they’re on afterward.

  • wennejunk

Nobody is really sure it’s not an option until its been tried.

I mean, who knows what’s socially acceptable until everyone looks away in embarrassment, right?

Newt began to go down that road, but the the media got away while he was looking for a nice Chianti to go with his fava beans.

  • http://abo.dr-rjp.com DrRJP

Hard to be respectful of the rats who ruined Herman Cain’s reputation on the basis of hearsay, They did not have any names then and they do not have any names now.

Hats off to Rick Perry for handing the reporter his head? Rick has been picking up some pointers from Newt.

THEY DO THIS ALL OF THE TIME!

Go back and read some of Politico’s claptrap during the 2008 election. They were trying to be a clone of Media Matters but without the stones to tell people what they were doing.

Remember how many of Politicos’ pundits were also members of Journolist – the media conspiracy to totally control the news output to get Obama elected? They spiked stories about Rev Wright. They lied about Bill Ayers. They smeared Republicans for not automatically repeating what the Democrats were saying about Bam,

Remember, the forger big cheese at Politico – Ben Smith? He’s the genius who invented the term, “Birthers”. as a derivative of “Truthers,” who, by the way, Politico thought were just as maninstream and legitimate as the #OWS crowd.

Politico supported the 9/11 Truthers. Now, they eviscerate the 2011 Birthers.

They and their fellow frauds at Factcheck and Politifact should find themselves new day jobs.

  • tngal

Never saw that coming. Its not like they they’ve done it in this election already or anything.
