provided by the link. When I was in the 10th grade we saw the film about Philip Nolan. It led me to memorize Sir Walter Scott's poem
"Breathes There the Man".

Breathes there the man with soul so dead
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne'er within him burned,
As home his footsteps he hath turned

From wandering on a foreign strand?
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim,
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonored, and unsung.

BTW, this poem is referenced and quoted, in part, by Andie McDowell's character in 'Groundhog Day'.

and that has not been unusual in past decades.

Cincinnati tends toward the Republicans, but right now the mayor is a Democrat.

As I wrote above, the cities versus the small towns and countryside have been the usual source of the schizoid politics. Things need to be fairly awful for things to change: RINO Governor Taft damaged Republicans by increasing taxes and spending and with scandals. His Democrat successor, blamed for companies leaving the state, was booted out after one term by Kasich, who could easily be booted out after one term as well, since companies continue to leave or go bankrupt, and because of union anger.

With Indiana now a right-to-work state, that should mean that Ohio must follow suit: nary a word from the state RINO's! They are still afraid after the Issue 5 loss to the unions and Dem operatives.

Whether the anti-incumbent sentiment will apply to MAObama...who knows?

From what I've seen Cincinnati is actually a Republican center, not a Democratic one...

I'm sure there has to be a State Party with more internal fighting right now than the Ohio Republican party, but there aren't many and I don't think they are in states that are that Purple...

I'm really not sure what happens if Ohio becomes a reliably Democratic State, The map gets really ugly...

Of course the NYT is right. Anyone who would vote for Obama must have AADT that limits their attention span to about a month for long term memory and about 20 minutes for short term.

I would be surprised if they made it all the way to the second paragraph.

The cities are Dem stronghold due to the usual Dem-dependent suspects: unions, Afro-Americans, college students, liberal-by-guilt suburbanites, etc.

Even cities ruined by Dem policies (Toledo, Cleveland, Youngstown, Dayton) continue to be true believers, but that is typical throughout the country with such areas (Detroit being the main example).

Rural and small-town Ohio seems to have better sense, but they are not a majority of the population.

Here in Columbus, affluent areas which sprouted Obama signs last year are remarkably devoid (so far) of such images. To be sure, I have seen only one "ROMNEY" bumper sticker, but saw more Ron Paul signs during the primary! :)

Ultimately it is still difficult to predict, but one warnng: Governor Kasich's completely wrong-headed non-campaign to preserve his bill to whittle down the power of public-sector unions crashed and burned last November, with 2/3 voting pro-union.

That was the result of a relentless pro-union propaganda campaign of lies and half-truths, against which Kasich and the RINO's runnng the Republican Party here were basically speechless.

Will that all be repeated to help re-elect MAObama?

...which they only got to at around paragraph 15 or so: Namely, how Obama's killing the Keystone XL pipeline as a payoff to environmentalist activists is scaring Ohio communities whose livelihoods depend on heavy (and DIRTY) industry. Unlike the "racist" angle, the effect that environmentalist extremism would have on such communities can be objectively analyzed.

But the NYT won't ever run that story. In the fight to "Save The Planet From Global Warming" (tm), such communities are just collateral damage.

Look, I am not saying this should be a campaign slogan, or anything like that. I just want to speak the truth. I want to give respect where it is due.
What is the context of Mr. Foreman's statement? "I'll say it..."
This is something that people are confronted with every day about this man Barak Obama, in the 2008 campaign and even now. He is being packaged as a "Black American".
And in 2008 what was the issue?
Everything about the left is about deception and manipulation.
Powell, Crosby, West are Black Americans.
This man is NOT.
He was raised by his white mother and her family, he grew up in other countries and had almost anything he wanted.
Barak even admits that he was never an "underprivileged background".
How many times in the midst of a discussion about policies, is this brought up? You don't like him, others don't like him, because of the color of his skin?
Yes, it happens every day and on the ground it is real and suffocating.
Who cares what the color of his skin is?
No one on this side of the political world. We had Herman Cain and others.
But speaking truth is part of what we should do.
Give respect where it is due.

Look, I am not saying this should be a campaign slogan, or anything like that. I just want to speak the truth. I want to give respect where it is due.
What is the context of Mr. Foreman’s statement? “I’ll say it…”
This is something that people are confronted with every day about this man Barak Obama, in the 2008 campaign and even now. He is being packaged as a “Black American”.
And in 2008 what was the issue?
Everything about the left is about deception and manipulation.
Powell, Crosby, West are Black Americans.
This man is NOT.
He was raised by his white mother and her family, he grew up in other countries and had almost anything he wanted.
Barak even admits that he was never an “underprivileged background”.
How many times in the midst of a discussion about policies, is this brought up? You don’t like him, others don’t like him, because of the color of his skin?
Yes, it happens every day and on the ground it is real and suffocating.
Who cares what the color of his skin is?
No one on this side of the political world. We had Herman Cain and others.
But speaking truth is part of what we should do.
Give respect where it is due.
I won’t be silenced by the Alinsky drones.
My skin is “white” but I am Portuguese.
One man with courage makes a majority.
Courage and Godspeed.

If he's black. If he wants to be seen as black, let it be. If he wants to be a white, who cares?

The only thing we need to show is that he is a man of little moral courage, little belief in the American dream, and little competency to lead America through the next four years.

I mean his father was not a Black American, but an Employee of the Kenyan Government (under British Rule at the time) who came over to the United States to train in economics and return to his country. His father was never on a path to citizenship in this country. In fact his father was booted out because of his philandering by the INS.

His mother was a "white" girl from a Kansas Farm who moved to Hawaii.
Suddenly, critiquing the economic policies of the sitting president is racist! I would have never guessed!
But the fact they keep throwing in our faces "He's black" is not true, and it will never be true.
Let's have the courage to continue to believe that it is not the color of someone's skin, but the content of their character that we are focusing on.
