GOP congressman Gary Miller moved from Orange to San Bernardino to run in a new marginally Democrat district as opposed to running against fellow Republican or in a neigboring solidly Democrat district. Of course, the presumably bi-partisan "independent" redistricting commission had greased the skids for their designated hispanic in the new district with just enough Dems, Redlands mayor Pete Aguilar. But, this being the first year for California's own Jungle primary system, Pete had a few fellow Dems to contend with while Gary also got one (1) fellow Republican, local State Senator Bob Dutton. End result- Miller 27% Dutton 25% and Aguilar 22% with the rest scatter amongst the other 3 Dems. So, we have a sure GOP win come November for what had been listed as a lean district for the Dems. As for who is the better Republican, I've got no idea, tho I'd bet on Dutton if I had to choose now. Carpetbagger Miller's got the money though, so we'll see if one or both of these candidates look to appeal to the Dems come November.

Another Koster voter here.

John Koster is a solid Reagan conservative and the newly redrawn WA-01 district lines skirting the liberal enclaves along the coast and encompassing the largely conservative small towns and farmlands of northwest Washington should work to his advantage. John came very close to taking the 2010 election under the old districting and will be our next representative in Washington.

is that she might actually win the primary. This is my district.

The latest poll has Koster at 46% and Burner at 16% with everybody else in single digits. Ambitous Democrats who have always wanted to be Congressman have crowded the field and given ole' crazy pants a chance at victory.

Koster is really conservative for what Slade Gorton called the most middle of the road district in the country after re-districting, but he is also a well established former state legislature and well thought of county councilman. He beats Burner in a cake walk. It wouldn't even be close.

Current and future voter in WA-01 here.

The timing of Inslee's resignation was such that the WA Democratic party had thought that the WA-01 seat would have been left vacant, because they did not want a special election and allow the possibility of a Republican to win it-and ride the momentum into the November 2012 elections.

Congress told Washington state that this was a no-no, that a special election had to be held, thus leading to the current mess.
