Gun-Grabbing Delegate Joe Morrissey (D, Virginia) extends the scope of said grabbing.

(Via @JohnCardillo) This gets the coveted lolwhut: “Democratic Virginia state delegate Joseph Morrissey, who reached a plea agreement for charges relating to a sexual relationship he had with his 17-year-old office assistant, is yet to decide whether he will resign or commute to work from jail.” Delegate Morrissey – who is 57, and loudly denying the paternity of the child that said office assistant is currently carrying – got a year plus six months suspended for ‘contributing to the delinquency of a minor.’ So now he has to decide whether he’s going to keep working…

:My wife interrupts:

MRS. LANE: Wait, can he do that?

ME: APPARENTLY HE CAN.

…anyway, great work if you can get it, huh? If you’re wondering why he’s not getting the bastinado from his own party for thinking of pulling this stunt – after all, society tends to frown on sleeping with, and possibly impregnating, your underaged staffers – well, it’s complicated. Actually, no, not really: there aren’t that many Democrats in the General Assembly that the state party can afford to lose any more.

Also, and to pile on: this is not the first time that we’ve met Delegate Morrissey. Remember this? January of 2013:

Yup, that was the guy who had to have his Evil Magical Talisman Of POWER taken away from him because he didn’t know how to display one responsibly in public. Some people might be torn between suggesting that Morrissey has apparently had virility issues for some time, and suggesting that this is more evidence that hardcore gun control advocacy causes brain damage; but not me. I will cheerfully say that it’s both.

But the Democrats should look on the bright side. If Mike Bloomberg ever decides to expand his ~~Felons~~ Mayors Against Illegal Guns program to include state legislators he’s got a perfect choice for the Virginia branch! Bloomberg won’t even have to wait for Morrissey to acquire the apparently requisite conviction first…
