Ron Barber (D CAND, AZ-08) refused to say whether he’d vote for Barack Obama in November.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 24th at 12:30 PM |
Apparently, Ron Barber – the Democrat running to replace Gabby Giffords in the AZ-08 special election – has a bit of a problem with the entire ‘Democrat’ thing: “[Republican nominee Jesse] Kelly asked Barber to declare who he’ll vote for in November for president, and Barber – although a Democrat with an incumbent president of his party – refused, saying he’s focused on his own | Read More »
Breaking: Gabby Giffords resigning from Congress.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 22nd at 02:30 PM |
Congresswoman Giffords, of course, was gravely wounded in 2011 in a murderous attack by a madman that left six dead and thirteen injured. Since then, Giffords has made a remarkable recovery; unfortunately, it apparently has not been enough of a recovery, so she’s resigning in order to concentrate on her health. The video below of the announcement both shows the extent of her injuries, and | Read More »
Prediction: Clarence Dupnik will lose his next election.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 9th at 09:00 PM |
Via Ace of Spades and Mediate, here’s is Tuscon Sheriff Dupnik’s… sub-optimal… interview with Megyn Kelly. Pay close attention to his commentary at about 5:15, where he implicitly blames the attempted assassination of Congresswoman Giffords on the Chinese.
Meet Ruth McClung (R CAND, AZ-07).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 19th at 01:00 PM |
This interview actually took place last week, but got delayed due to personal considerations that aren’t really relevant to the AZ-07 race. Ruth is a bona fide rocket scientist facing Raul Grijalva, who is mostly known for trying to drive up Arizona’s unemployment rate in a fit of, bluntly, pique. Oh, yeah: Grijalva also aids and abets pro-terrorist organizations. Ruth and I had a chat | Read More »
Ruth McClung (R CAND, AZ-07) Moneybomb.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 14th at 10:00 PM |
I’m in the process of processing for tomorrow morning the interview I had with Ruth McClung a couple of hours ago, but (via Instapundit) she’s doing a moneybomb right now: she’s aiming for $100K and has gotten $77K so far. The theme is “Goodbye. Grijalva” – and goodness knows that such a thing would be absolutely swell. Raul Grijalva, of course, is the legislator so | Read More »
Meet Pamela Gorman (R CAND, AZ-03).

Pamela’s one of the candidates running for John Shaddeg’s seat: she talked to us today about the race. Nice person. Pamela’s site is here. Moe Lane Crossposted to Moe Lane.
Confirmed: US to sue Arizona over SB1070.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | June 19th at 03:00 PM |
Gov. Brewer removes AG Goddard from immigration law defense.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 29th at 12:09 PM |
Let me put it a different way: Gov. Jan Brewer (R, AZ-GOV) removes AG Terry Goddard (D-CAND, AZ-GOV) from the defense of the illegal immigration law that the former supports and the latter opposes. Late Friday night as the Memorial Day weekend began, Arizona’s Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, in effect, suspended the state’s Democratic attorney general from defending the new law in upcoming legal challenges. | Read More »
Do you agree with the State Department, Ambassador Huntsman?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 18th at 05:00 PM |
It’s widely rumored that Jon Huntsman (former Republican governor of Utah, and current ambassador to the People’s Republic of China) has future political ambitions: I submit that those ambitions will quickly die the True Death if he does not address the recent ridiculousness over our State Department apologizing to the People’s Republic of China for Arizona’s enforcement of the government’s own illegal immigration policy. Because | Read More »
San Diego to Arizona: “Look, just because we called you racist bigots…”
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 16th at 09:48 AM |
“…doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t visit:” San Diego tourism leaders and hoteliers fear they could lose a sizable chunk of business this summer from valued “Zonies” who are so angered by elected leaders’ recent censure of Arizona for its illegal-immigration law that they’re mounting an informal boycott of their own. The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and several hotels report receiving e-mails and letters | Read More »
What to take away from this Rasmussen AZ-GOV poll.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 21st at 09:26 AM |
The very short version: all four GOP candidates for Governor beat the likely Democratic nominee. The hidden message: Arizona voters don’t like the Democrats’ health care debacle. Over the past month, despite even higher opposition to the new national health care plan in Arizona than is found nationally, [state AG General Terry] Goddard has refused to join other state attorneys general in suing to stop | Read More »
If we take back 45 seats, we make Biden wear a Little Lord Fauntleroy suit.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 21st at 08:55 PM |
Via @baseballcrank, promises, promises: Vice President Joe Biden said today that if Democrats were to lose 35 House seats they currently hold in traditionally Republican districts, it would mean doomsday for President Obama’s agenda. Biden said Republicans are pinning their political strategy on flipping these seats. “If they take them back, this the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to | Read More »
It’s not even a ‘Battle’ of the Signs. No contest.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 23rd at 07:45 AM |
This video by Short for Ordinary (via Breitbart TV) contrasting the sign-acquiring strategies of the folks against health care rationing vs. those of the ones for it: (For those without ready video: the 1000+ demonstrating against health care rationing at the Tuscon Recess Rally [Giffords*] made their own; the 200 demonstrating for it were generally handed them at about the same time that they got | Read More »
I think MSNBC is trying to get the President shot at.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 19th at 09:26 PM |
(H/T Ace of Spades, NewsBusters, & Hot Air) I’m aware that’s kind of an inflammatory statement, but hear me out. OK, remember last weekend, when there were a bunch of reports of armed people at the Arizona town hall? Lots of stories of bemused reporters trying to get their heads around the notion that in Arizona you can wander around with an AR-15 – Which | Read More »
Meet Jesse Kelly (R Cand, AZ-08).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 15th at 08:43 AM |
Website for Jesse Kelly here: contribute here. AZ-04 is a R+4 district: its current holder (Gabrielle Giffords) picked up the seat as part of the 2006 shellacking. In time-honored Blue Dog fashion, she’s handling the health care rationing controversy by hiding from it: Giffords abruptly canceled two Thursday meetings by ‘combining’ them into a RSVP-only whatever-it-was at a military base. Fairly typical behavior, in other | Read More »
The Napolitano pick also means that the AZ governorship flips parties.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | November 19th at 11:50 PM |
There’s no Lt. Governor for Arizona, so Jan Brewer – the pro-life Secretary of State, and next in line – gets the job, and two years incumbency before she runs for reelection.
