The “Charlie Crist, ambulance chaser” Open Thread.

I know that sometimes, people wonder if the things that they do for the Right, or the Republican party, really make a difference. To that I say: why not ask Charlie Crist? From Florida Governor and presumptive Senator, to ambulance-chasing lawyer ready to serve you. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to put this one up on the wall. Open thread. [UPDATE]: Here’s | Read More »
Clinton tried to get Meek out of FL-SEN race.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 28th at 11:58 PM |
So, let’s sum up the White House’s thinking on how to salvage the Florida Senate race, five days before the election. They had a choice between: The guy who is a former state trooper, former state Democratic legislator, four-term Democratic Congressman, and the duly-chosen Democratic nominee for FL-SEN black; and The guy who is a long-term Republican legislator and current governor of Florida who has | Read More »
I believe that the FL-SEN race is now over.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 24th at 06:34 PM |
When your second-place candidate (Crist) is reduced to heckling the first-place candidate (RUBIO) during an actual debate you can safely assume that the second-place candidate has given up on trying to win and is now merely trying to see just how spectacular a fireball that he can generate on impact. So, how spectacular? Answer? Quite spectacular, really. Then again, Crist was always a bit… gassy. | Read More »
Mason-Dixon: Rubio ahead, if Meek’s in.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 15th at 09:57 AM |
OK, I’m no Lord [Pollington] [Oops!], but let’s unpack the Mason-Dixon poll for FL-SEN – which is bad news for Charlie Crist, and seriously bad news for the Democratic party of Florida that everybody expects Crist to join, just as soon as he can manage. Below are the three major match-ups: If the race is Marco Rubio for the GOP, Kendrick Meek for the Democrats, | Read More »
Rasmussen: Meek must be sunk…
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 11th at 09:00 AM |
…if the Democrats want to keep the R from the seat. If Meek gets the nomination, Marco Rubio wins; if Greene gets it, Crist picks up enough votes to make the race competitive. And, of course, if Crist wins he’ll then finish the project of becoming a Democrat. That was Arlen Specter’s mistake, you see: openly turning your coat will strike too many people as | Read More »
Democratic party abandoning Kendrick Meek in FL-SEN?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | June 5th at 08:54 AM |
Looks that way: Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who left the Republican Party to run for Senate as an independent, has hired a top Senate Democrat’s former chief of staff. In a just-released statement, Crist announced that his media team will be headed by Josh Isay, who used to work for Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. Schumer is a member of the Senate’s Democratic leadership team and | Read More »
Heck, ‘Road to Nowhere’ is worth at least *2* million.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 25th at 01:00 PM |
(H/T: Hot Air Headlines) I think that you should go for two million, David Byrne. I think that you should get an immediate injunction against, or seizure of Crist’s bank account – or whatever it is that they call it. And a groveling apology. Heck, want a pony? Charlie Crist should give you a pony. David Byrne is suing the governor of Florida, alleging that | Read More »
Good news: Crist isn’t giving that money back.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 13th at 02:30 PM |
This is good news… Gov. Charlie Crist told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on April 30 that he would “probably” give refunds to donors who don’t approve of him leaving the GOP. Some donors to his U.S. Senate campaign were told before the switch that they would get their money back or pro-rated refunds. No more. A couple of hours before Crist officially becomes an NPA voter, campaign spokeswoman Michelle Todd said there will | Read More »
One pre-emptive Crist observation.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 29th at 04:40 PM |
If Crist really does declare an independent run this afternoon Sen. Cornyn of the NRSC will wind up looking foolish, true. Only thing is, Sen Menendez of the DSCC is going to end up looking even worse. He’s the one who recruited a candidate that Rasmussen has in third in a GOP split and who PPP reports is less popular than Crist. And now the | Read More »
1Q 2010: Crist raises 1.1 million to Rubio’s 3.6.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 9th at 07:54 PM |
It’s not your time, Governor. Via Hot Air: Allahpundit independently makes the same suggestion… If I were Crist, here’s what I’d do. First, I’d dial up Jeb Bush and ask him whether there’s any chance whatsoever that he’ll endorse me. If he says no (which seems likely), either because he’s backing Rubio or staying out of the race, then I’d dial up Rubio and offer | Read More »
Does Charlie Crist have permission to use all those articles?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 28th at 06:47 PM |
Specifically, the ones written by Alex Leary for the St. Petersburg Times, and which are now showing up on Charlie Crist’s anti-Rubio hit site. Compare a post from said hit site: …with the original: Unless Mr. Leary is actually involved with this project, and the St. Petersburg Times, this is an embarrassing failure to understand the Internet. Why? Because of this: Reproducing other people’s articles | Read More »
‘Watchmen on the wall of world freedom.’

A quote from Kennedy’s last, undelivered speech – and one quoted by Florida Senatorial candidate Marco Rubio as part of his farewell speech to the Florida legislature. Via And So it Goes in Shreveport. No transcript yet, sorry. I’ve been personally staying out of the entire Crist/Rubio NRSC endorsement brouhaha, mostly because we’re going to have Senatorial candidates that are going to need the NRSC’s | Read More »
Stopping more Tax Hikes on the poor in Florida.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 22nd at 09:18 PM |
This ad comes from Grover Norquist’s Americans For Tax Reform, and it’s aimed squarely at the Florida legislature’s attempt to emulate the Obama administration’s recent lower-class tax hike: The argument here is actually very simple: cigarette taxes are in fact taxes, not ‘user fees’ or any other kind of bureaucratic nonsense. People like to pretend otherwise because it’s easier to pass something that’s not called | Read More »
