White House scheduled Solyndra layoffs for after ’10 elections?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | November 15th at 04:30 PM |
I am almost relieved by this: The Obama administration urged officers of the struggling solar company Solyndra to postpone announcing planned layoffs until after the November 2010 midterm elections, newly released e-mails show. More accurately, I am relieved that I can still get angry about this. You never know when you’re going to get suddenly numb about the latest batch of incompetent corruption that this | Read More »
Boxer pot aide should have gone with different drug.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 9th at 08:58 AM |
You have probably read or heard by now that one of Senator Barbara Boxer’s used-to-be-senior-aides got busted for trying to bring pot into Capitol Hill. I say ‘used-to-be’ because they fired him, of course: aside from the bad image generally, as the Politico article notes Sen. Boxer is currently being a War on Some Drugs warrior when it comes to pot legalization. Now, I will | Read More »
Jan Schakowsky (D, IL-09) saves Shorebank after all.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 24th at 08:30 AM |
Back in May it was reported that the failing, yet politically-connected Shorebank in Illinois was to be bailed out. The bank actually closed last Friday, but was resurrected yesterday and turned into a new bank – one that will of course have no obvious relationship to Rep. Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), who lobbied very strenuously to save Shorebank… even though it’s not based in her district. | Read More »

Hey, Pete Stark’s (D) under an ethics investigation!
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | December 29th at 06:50 PM |
You know Pete: he’s that crazy Democrat who goes around threatening to throw journalists out the window when he doesn’t like the questions. He’s also that crazy Democrat who’ll take over for Charlie Rangel at Ways & Means if Rangel ever has to answer for his ethics violations, which is probably not the least reason why the Democrats haven’t thrown Rangel out of a metaphorical | Read More »
Charlie Rangel (D, NY) gave money to Democrats on Ethics Committee.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 2nd at 10:30 PM |
(Via @vermontaigne) Three of them. Need I add that Charlie Rangel is currently under investigation by that committee? Charlie’s “angels” on the committee include Congressmen Ben Chandler of Kentucky, G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina and Peter Welch of Vermont. All have received donations from Rangel. Two of them – Chandler (KY-06, R+9*) & Butterfield (NC-01, D+9) – are apparently keeping it, too. Considering that Rep. | Read More »

How to (legally*) personally profit from your position as a Presidential Senior Advisor.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 19th at 07:30 AM |
Just follow these easy steps! Create AKPD Message & Media, a public relations company that specializes in astroturfing. Attach yourself to the campaign of the candidate that eventually wins the 2008 Presidential election. Disengage yourself from AKPD Media, but under circumstances where the company ‘owes’ you 2 million dollars, which it will then pay back over time (we call this ‘income’). Become a Senior Advisor | Read More »
Update on Hudson County Democratic Party Organlegging Arrests.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | July 23rd at 03:57 PM |
Some details from the story (covered here and here): Yes, in fact: there was trafficking in human organs involved. At least one individual has been brought up on charges of attempting to sell a liver. The list of individuals and charges can be found here: we’re looking at conspiracy to commit extortion, money laundering, and again, at least one charge in trafficking in human organs. | Read More »
Democrats reject Flake Corruption Probe.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 26th at 08:20 AM |
(Followup to this post) The bad news, of course, is that majority party Democrats are adamant against having any investigation into whether there are links between campaign contributions and earmarks in bills – which is very interesting, given that they control Congress, and thus can presumably make sure that the proceedings are fair… The House voted Wednesday to kill a resolution calling for an ethics | Read More »
Rep Bart Gordon (D, TN-06) junketing to Europe for no real reason?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 19th at 06:28 PM |
Apparently, he’s going to be part of quite the throng. Via Red County and Dave Evans for Congress comes this WaPo report: Hurry, hurry, hurry. Congress will begin its 2009 travel season in earnest this weekend with two spectacular codels — trips for House congressional delegations — that are not to be missed. On Saturday, Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), chairman of the House delegation to | Read More »
Blagojevich scandal? “Let’s go to the video tape…”
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 14th at 09:42 AM |
Capuchin monkeys with flaming chainsaws, that’s what: Federal authorities used a video camera as part of their cache of tools to investigate Gov. Blagojevich in the final weeks of 2008 before his arrest, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned. The camera, which likely was remote-controlled, was trained on the Friends of Blagojevich offices, 4147 N. Ravenswood, to help FBI agents identify individuals entering and leaving the | Read More »
Yet *another* Democratic Mayor arrested on felony charges.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 9th at 07:34 PM |
It’s perversely impressive when they actually, literally steal from the poor. Very 19th Century, only with better sanitation. Baltimore mayor indicted on theft, perjury charges BALTIMORE — Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Friday on charges that she accepted illegal gifts during her time as mayor and City Council president, including travel, fur coats and gift cards intended for the poor that she allegedly used instead | Read More »
Today’s embarrassing Blagojevich-related revelations.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | December 12th at 11:05 AM |
First, it’s being reported that Rod Blagojevich and Rahm Emanuel had multiple conversations on Obama’s replacement: (Video via Hot Air) Second, the timing on this fundraiser was truly awful for the person it was apparently supposed to help: Blagojevich fundraiser held by Jackson allies Saturday As Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to pick Illinois’ next U.S. senator, businessmen with ties to both the governor and | Read More »
Blue-on-Blue Watch: NYT versus Charlie Rangel.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | July 11th at 08:09 AM |
Let’s say that you’re a news/media organization, and you have yourself a problem. There’s this guy running for President. You loved that the guy was running for President. You got totally into fact that the guy was running, to the point where you pretty much gushed and cooed and did all sorts of really, really embarrassing things on your front page in support of the | Read More »
