RS at CPAC: Karen Harrington (R CAND, FL-20 PRI)
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 10th at 09:30 AM |
This is from yesterday: Karen Harrington is goig up against Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who doesn’t quite have the district that she used to. We’ve talked before, and she had some thoughts on CPAC this time: Karen’s site is here. Moe Lane (crosspost)
Secret Florida primary training video leaked!
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 23rd at 09:00 AM |
Never you mind how said training video was acquired, and/or which campaigns are going to use it to inform their operating methodology: that part’s not important. What’s important is that this is how the next week is going to look, in the run-up to the Florida primary:
Blogcon 11 Interview: Karen Harrington (R CAND, FL-20 Primary)
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | November 14th at 08:30 PM |
That would be the district currently Occupied by Debbie Wasserman Schultz; at least, it is when DWS has time to spare from being Barack Obama’s trained seal at the DNC. As you might imagine, there’s little love lost between me and the Congresswoman, so when The Shark Tank‘s Javier Manjarres offered to get me an interview with potential challenger Karen Harrington at Blogcon 11 I | Read More »
The Washington Post has a macaca on its back.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 21st at 12:30 PM |
I swear to God, it’s like the paper remembers that one, perfect high that it got from torpedoing then-Senator George Allen’s re-election run in 2006, and has been chasing the dragon ever since: 2009: You all remember the McDonnell/Deeds gubernatorial contest, yes? You also remember how the WaPo went so all-in on pushing an absurd story that Jim Geraghty started calling it the Washington Bob | Read More »
RS Gathering 2011: Adam Hasner (R CAND, FL-SEN PRIMARY).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 16th at 12:00 PM |
Adam Hasner was one of our speakers at the RedState Gathering, and he was available for a few moments for comments. You may recognize the backdrop; it’s from the Teddy Roosevelt painting, and I’d like to note that I think that campaigns looking for nice backgrounds from which to do their videos could do worse than use Steve Penley’s stuff. Adam’s site is here. I | Read More »
We shall have Alan Grayson to kick around some more.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | July 11th at 08:00 PM |
The fellow is planning to run for Congress again. Alan Grayson is, of course, the frothing lunatic who was elected to FL-08 in 2008… and then promptly lost his first re-election in 2010, mostly because he was, well, a frothing lunatic who called his opponent (one Daniel Webster*) a member of the Taliban and made up stuff about Webster at a level not usually seen | Read More »
The “Charlie Crist, ambulance chaser” Open Thread.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 4th at 12:30 PM |
I know that sometimes, people wonder if the things that they do for the Right, or the Republican party, really make a difference. To that I say: why not ask Charlie Crist? From Florida Governor and presumptive Senator, to ambulance-chasing lawyer ready to serve you. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to put this one up on the wall. Open thread. [UPDATE]: Here’s | Read More »
Florida Democrats astroturf GOP town halls!
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 27th at 11:06 AM |
…and don’t do a very good job of it, really. The Orlando Sentinel reported that Rep. Daniel Webster got heckled by “members of progressive groups such as Moveon.org and Organize Now,” while Allen West got screamed at by a woman later identified as being a former radio host for Air America (remember them*?). A few things to note about this: When the newspapers are taking | Read More »
Union Reform bills pass in Ohio, Indiana Houses.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | March 30th at 08:00 PM |
In Ohio, the final vote on SB 5 was 53-44; it’s already passed the Ohio Senate, but changes made to the bill require another quick vote on the legislation either today or tomorrow. This particular legislation goes a bit farther than the groundbreaking Wisconsin union reform bill; it redefines collective bargaining privileges for public sector union employees to cover wages only, institutes merit pay for | Read More »
Union dues reform bill passes Florida House.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | March 25th at 01:42 PM |
The bill in question is HB 1021, and it is designed to get government out of union’s business by: banning automatic dues collection for public sector unions; and requiring union leadership to get permission from individual members before using those dues for partisan politicking. The bill passed 74-40, despite the rather strenuous objections of Big Labor: a similar bill (SB 830) is making its way | Read More »
CPAC 2011: Al Cardenas.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 13th at 11:00 PM |
He’s the new head of the ACU, and we had a bit of a general talk on that, and CPAC. Al Cardenas has a pretty compelling story: it constantly amazes me why Communist dictatorships were so determined to keep sending us top-shelf immigrants. Oh, right: it’s because Marxism is intellectualism for stupid people.
CPAC 2011: Allen West (R, FL-22).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 13th at 04:00 PM |
I may have gloated a little over the “Congressman” bit: but then, FL-22 was one of the ten or so that most of us really, really, really wanted to get last November. Pleasant to have gotten this one, then. Rep. West did a blogger availability and the CPAC keynote speech shortly afterward; you can see part of the first and the whole of the second | Read More »
The rising tide of left-wing violence?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | December 16th at 08:00 AM |
Back about two weeks ago, Media Matters was duly upset about Glenn Beck saying that “there seems to be a mounting call for violence from the left:” [Video not working: sorry.] Oddly: as of 7:37 AM, 12/16/2010, Media Matters has precisely zero to say about would-be class warrior Clay Duke. Clay Duke is, of course, the guy who decided to Fight The Power by walking | Read More »
Clinton tried to get Meek out of FL-SEN race.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 28th at 11:58 PM |
So, let’s sum up the White House’s thinking on how to salvage the Florida Senate race, five days before the election. They had a choice between: The guy who is a former state trooper, former state Democratic legislator, four-term Democratic Congressman, and the duly-chosen Democratic nominee for FL-SEN black; and The guy who is a long-term Republican legislator and current governor of Florida who has | Read More »
CNN calls Alex Sink (D CAND, FL-GOV) a liar.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 27th at 02:00 PM |
And no, it wasn’t Erick who did that. It was John King. Background: there was a debate on Monday night between Alex Sink and Republican Rick Scott. There had been an agreement beforehand that there would be no notes or outside help… and Sink promptly ignored said agreement by taking advice from a campaign staffer via cell phone. The staffer has since been fired; and | Read More »
I believe that the FL-SEN race is now over.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 24th at 06:34 PM |
When your second-place candidate (Crist) is reduced to heckling the first-place candidate (RUBIO) during an actual debate you can safely assume that the second-place candidate has given up on trying to win and is now merely trying to see just how spectacular a fireball that he can generate on impact. So, how spectacular? Answer? Quite spectacular, really. Then again, Crist was always a bit… gassy. | Read More »
The anti-Alan Grayson ad that wrote itself.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 30th at 10:21 PM |
More accurately, it’s the anti-Alan Grayson ad that he himself wrote. I would love to add something to this, but, really: when it comes down to it, the best argument against Grayson is… Grayson. No summary needed. You know what he says about non-progressives, it’s all in there… and in thirty seconds, too. The NRCC outdid itself, really. Enjoy. And donate to Daniel Webster‘s campaign.
Meet Sandy Adams (R CAND, FL-24).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 22nd at 08:30 PM |
Sandy is running against Suzanne Kosmas, who has been busy these last couple of years in utterly [failing to prevent*] the administration from gutting manned space exploration. Sandy has a moneybomb going on today and tomorrow, so we talked briefly about her race: Sandy’s main site is here; the moneybomb site is here. [FL]-24 is definitely gettable for the GOP, but you have to speculate | Read More »
Meet Daniel Webster (R CAND, FL-08).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 10th at 07:00 PM |
Daniel Webster is the candidate that finally got chosen to be the instrument by which we propel Alan Grayson to a fun new career as a bitter MSNBC analyst. We talked this afternoon, and I manfully avoided referencing either Stephen Vincent Benet or Charlie Daniels: Daniel’s site is here. Moe Lane Crossposted to Moe Lane.
Rick Scott (R CAND, FL-GOV) picks Jennifer Carroll for Lt. Gov spot.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 2nd at 05:30 PM |
It’s a good choice on a variety of levels: Jennifer is a small businesswoman, twenty-year military veteran, state legislator, NRA member, Jeb Bush appointee… and, possibly most importantly, a Bill McCollum supporter. Jennifer was actually on Crist’s short list for a Senate appointment last year; for that matter, she was apparently even considered for the Lt. Gov position four years ago; all of which should | Read More »
