Sen. Kent Conrad (D-LAME DUCK, ND): We did too pass a budget!
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | February 2nd at 09:30 AM |
The Democratic Senator from North Dakota is taking the position that The Budget Control Act (the formal name for the agreement that raised the debt ceiling) totally counts as a budget. While the idea of a federal budget that only takes twenty-eight pages to describe is actually kind of intriguing to me, the fact remains that the summary tables of an actual federal budget are | Read More »
BREAKING: Kent Conrad (D, ND) to retire.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 18th at 10:00 AM |
Admittedly, this revelation is coming from Chris Cillizzia, so take it with a grain of salt – but it’s hardly unexpected news; the Senator almost certainly feels like he has a target on his back these days*. This immediately makes the seat a strong Republican pickup prospect: Senator Conrad was in that seat largely out of personal popularity, and is unlikely to pass that popularity | Read More »
Lots of Primaries today.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | June 8th at 08:23 AM |
According to RCP, we’ve got primaries in California, Iowa, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Virginia. The news has been dominated by California’s, Nevada’s, and of course South Carolina’s – but they’re all important, so if you’re a voter in that state, hie yourselves and any reliable Republican voters within reach to a polling station. You can let the | Read More »

Yes, Earl Pomeroy (D, ND-AL). Why DON’T you retire?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 15th at 10:29 AM |
Doing so will save us the trouble of removing you from office in November. Which we will. This is a bad year to be a Democratic incumbent in a Republican district. In an emotional talk with other Democrats on the Ways and Means Committee this week, North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy said the protracted debate is hurting him so badly back home that he might | Read More »
Senator Byron Dorgan’s (D, ND) retiring.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 5th at 07:53 PM |
So much for a quiet day. North Dakota Democratic Sen. Byron Dorgan said that he won’t seek re-election in 2010, handing the GOP an opportunity to pick up a seat. Citing “other things I would like to pursue outside of public life,” the third-term senator made his announcement in a lengthy statement that touted his accomplishments in his 18 year career and hinted at his | Read More »
Sen. Dorgan (D, ND)… well, he’s ducking and covering on health care.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 11th at 01:00 PM |
There’s no way to sugar-coat it, although Dorgan’s certainly trying. If his town halls are all going to be like this one: Dorgan will be at the fire hall for only an hour, so there won’t be a lot of time for questions, Pyle said. …then yes, he is in point of fact ‘worried.’ As well he should be: Ramussen’s new numbers are out, and | Read More »
Obama flees North Dakota.

Big hopes for it. Spent the money, opened the offices, pushed the registration. Ran away.
