If El Rushbo isn't #1 on any list of influential conservatives (assuming it's against the rules to list Reagan posthumously), then I'm a tuna fish sandwich; Ron Paul doesn't belong -- but Sarah Palin most definitely does -- and I'm surprised to see Chocola above Feulner.

And where are Michelle Malkin, Oliver North, Mark Levin, or Hannity? Also, what of Scalia and Thomas? As much as I respect Krauthammer, I don't think he'd make my top 10.

As to your list of Conservatives, Erick Erickson should be higher up on the list as he has built up a huge network of Republican/Conservative activists, that get to work on the phones, faxes and emails when he, with his vast insider knowledge, lets us know when something very important is coming up. I expect one day that he just may get that "guest hosting spot on Rush's show", wink wink.

I completely disagree with putting Ron Paul on the list. First off, Paul is not a Republican, except for the current R behind his name, he is a Libertarian, and a very flaky one at that. The only thing he has accomplished in years has been the ability to awaken a crowd of anarchists.

I went to Forbes, and it is Karl Roves list of seven most powerful conservatives. It is not a list of the seven most influential conservatives.
What small amount of power exists today resides in the Senate Minority, Senate Whip, House Minority Leader, and House whip. Because of the large difference in numbers between Rs and Ds, there is only so much power.
Outside of elected office the conservatives with the power to move people toward conservatism should include Rush Limbaugh, Charles Krauthammer, and Mark Levin.
Those would be my list of the seven most powerful conservatives.

but I agree with you 100%, Rove's list reads like a list of Washington GOP insiders rather than a list of the most influential conservatives. Several of the people on the list are more influential than Edwin Feulner, even if he is the Heritage pres.

Charles Krauthammer should be further up it though.

If I were making a list, I would consider for it:

Bill Bennett, Andrew McCarthy, John Hinderacker, Jeff Sessions. and Robert Samuelsson

I agree with Rove's choices of John Boehner and Eric Cantor
