2010 GOP Hopefuls: Benjamin Lawless

Maryland’s third Congressional District appears to be a powerful seat to hold. Both of the current sitting Senators formally represented that district. What’s interesting is that prior to the election of Ben Cardin in 2006, both Senate seats were still held by MD-3 alumni. The current occupier of this seat is Congressman John Sarbanes. Sarbanes’ father held this same Congressional seat in the 1970s and | Read More »

    A Stealth Campaign

In 2010 there are a few potentially competitive statewide races in New York. There is the US Senate race with former Blue Dog Democrat turned Obama party shill Kirstin Gillibrand which can be competitive with the right candidate (ex. George Pataki). There is the Governor’s race which could be competitive because of the incompetency of the incumbent Governor with nearly any candidate who can resonate | Read More »

    Oversized State Salaries

The State of Maryland currently has under its employ over 80,000 people. The job categories range from Governor to police to University Deans. The current average annual salary of all people working in Maryland is $68,000. In 2008, the Baltimore Examiner requested a list of those persons working for the State who’s annual salaries are over $100,000. 4,678 people, more than 5% of all State | Read More »

Suggestions to Draft – Michael Garcia

In 2007, the unexpected happened in New York. The Governor and former Attorney General, known as tough on crime specifically for busting up prostitution rings and corruption on Wall Street – was caught with his pants down. Eliot Spitzer had been involved with a high price prostitute. The high profile Democratic Governor who looked like a potential 2008 candidate – who fell from grace fast. | Read More »

    Redlich for NYS Governor?

In 2004, entrenched incumbent Congressman Mike McNulty looked like a cinch for reelection. He had been in office since the early nineties and was great at playing both sides – consistently being endorsed by the liberal Working Families Party for his fiscal views and the Conservative Party of New York based on his pro-life stances. In 2004, little known libertarian leaning Republican attorney Warren Redlich | Read More »

    A Year in Review – 2009

In 2008, I continued a tradition from my previous blog where I would discuss the year that has passed. To follow is my executive summary of the year 2009. The year begins. Obama lines up cabinet including number of tax dodgers prior to beginning of Presidency. Approval rating of the President-Elect in high 70s. President Bush gives best speech of career, as he leaves office. | Read More »

Suggestion to Draft – EJ Pipkin

The position of Comptroller is one that the average citizen of any state will say they may not understand fully. The Comptroller is supposed to serve as the state’s accountant is in charge of collecting taxes, handles deliquent tax collection, enforces unclaimed property laws; in summary, the Comptroller is the State’s Cheif Financial Officer. In Maryland, the people are represented by former State Legislator Peter | Read More »

    Revenge of the Spitz

In 2006, Eliot Spitzer was an unstoppable force in New York State politics. Brave, conservative footsoldier John Faso allowed himself to be steamrolled by the Attorney General on his path to the Governor’s Mansion. By 2008, Spitzer was out of office due to a prostitution scandal that shook the seemingly unshakable Governor. Now, in 2010, Eliot Spitzer is considering a run for one of only | Read More »

    Affairs of Double Standards

Who am I? I’m a moderate to conservative US Senator from a traditionally red state. I voted for the Bush tax cuts. I have won reelection to my Senate seat by over 10% each time. I oppose single-payer healthcare. I also had an affair with a campaign aide. Who am I? Many would immediately jump to John Ensign. The problem is that this very same | Read More »

    Gift Cards for Sheila

As many in the Baltimore area know, Mayor Sheila Dixon was convicted of misappropriation of gift cards which were supposed to be used for underprivaleged families. Instead, she used the gift cards on herself. She was found not guilty on two theft charges. The convicted Mayor should resign from her position. She is currently not serving the people of Baltimore City by continuing to waste | Read More »
