Health Care Forum in Athens, Georgia

I’m not sure how many Red Staters there are in the Athens area, but there is a health care town hall to be held tonight at Cine in downtown Athens.  Unfortunately I won’t be there as I have to work (to pay taxes for the health care of the people who will be there), but it would be nice to make sure we have plenty of conservative representation.  Here is the information from Cine’s website (link):

We Shouldn’t Bail Out Shareholders When Times Are Tough

but apparently we should tax the heck out of them when times are good

Just heard Obama say in a speech that we shouldn’t bailout shareholders of AIG because they benefit when times are good so they should suffer when times are tough.

I agree completely.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t. Since he advocates a windfall profits tax on oil companies because they are making lots of profits, he doesn’t want shareholders to benefit when times are good. But he is okay with letting them suffer when times are bad.

I can’t quite get my mind around the logic behind that type of incentive structure, but I’m pretty sure it’s not good.

Obama’s Infanticide

and stupid health care rankings

The health care rankings that I am familiar with that like to list the United States far down on the list often use measurements such as infant mortality. I have seen some writings talking about how this measure can be misleading. I am wondering, though, if an infant born following a failed abortion (the kind Obama thinks should die), would count in our infant mortality statistics.

And if so, would it not be that liberal policies such as this inflate our infant mortality numbers and that liberals, in turn, use these numbers as justification for universal health care.

Seems like it would make for a nice circle.
