OFA Draws 3 To Anti-Gun Rally
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 18th at 01:21 PM |
Last Friday, Organizing for Action exploited the six-month anniversary of the Newtown shooting. They mobilized their supporters for a series of anti-gun rallies across the country. In San Bernardino, that call to action was answered by three people. Ryan Hagen of the Sun, a local paper, wrote on June 14 about the failed rally. On Flag Day growing up, I used to always wave a flag with | Read More »
Hispanic Voter Surge From Immigration Reform Is Negligible
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 14th at 12:38 PM |
Let me start by saying that I’m not sold on the new immigration bill. The additional costs, especially with health care, should have everyone asking whether this comprehensive reform should be divided up into separate bills. As I wrote back in January, Philip Klein at the Washington Examiner aptly noted that: …the CBO estimated that the law would cover an additional 11 million people on Medicaid (at a cost of | Read More »
Uh, Sen. Landrieu, South Dakota Isn’t A Border State
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 13th at 06:08 PM |
When debating border control methods on June 13, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D- Louisiana) got a little confused with her geography. She mentioned South Dakota as a border state. Well, if you look at the map, that’s not the case, which makes this gaffe immensely entertaining. On the Senate floor, Landrieu said: I’m going to speak about this amendment for just a minute, but I’ld like to | Read More »
New Mexico Abortionist: Killing A Baby Is Like a ‘Flu Shot’
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 13th at 09:49 AM |
Today, Live Action released another investigative video centering on Dr. Carmen Landau of New Mexico. This is part of their prolonged investigation into the late-term abortion industry. For the past two months, the organization exposed the lurid details that pervades this underreported sector of American medicine. In fact, it’s shown the nation that late-term abortionists are murdering babies that are viable outside the womb, which | Read More »
MA SEN: Gomez Isn’t A ‘Mitch McConnell Clone,’ But He’s No Ted Cruz Either
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 12th at 09:17 PM |
In the second debate between Republican Gabriel Gomez and Democratic Rep. Ed Markey, two things were clear. One, Gomez isn’t “too conservative.” Second, Markey is clueless to think that he is some “Mitch McConnell clone.” Yet, we’re talking about Ed Markey here. On the budget, Markey had these words of wisdom last night: ”it’s really not math. It’s just arithmetic.” Then again, Gomez is no Ted Cruz. | Read More »

Markey On The Budget: ‘It’s Really Not Math, It’s Just Arithmetic’
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 12th at 10:38 AM |
Last night, Democratic Rep. Ed Markey and Republican Gabriel Gomez had their second debate in the race to fill John Kerry’s vacant senate seat in Massachusetts. Gomez took a swipe at Democrats concerning their failure to address our fiscal problems in Washington. Markey responded by saying, “it’s not really math, it’s just arithmetic.’ Yep, it’s idiotic, humorous, and kind of sad. Yet, after doing nothing | Read More »
Business Insider Editor: Social Media Isn’t Necessary To Win Elections
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 11th at 07:56 PM |
Business Insider’s Politics Editor, Josh Barro, isn’t a fan of NRSC’s Communications Director Brad Dayspring. Citing a Politico piece from James Hohmann published yesterday, Barro labeled Dayspring as “juvenile” in his approach towards Twitter engagement. Given the various scandals plaguing Obama, it’s puzzling that Politico would write almost 1800 words on the DCSS and NRSC’s Twitter wars, but to say that the social media platform | Read More »
Hollow Tantrum: Obama’s Judicial Nominees Are Faring Better Than Bush
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 7th at 01:26 PM |
President Obama is playing hardball. He vows no compromise with his judicial appointments to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and this has some on the left, like Slate editor Emily Bazelon, excited. After all, Obama isn’t a fighter. He’s a reformer, or at least, that’s what his platform was in 2008. At that time, the fighter was Hillary. Yet, is this a ‘squirrel’ moment? Obama | Read More »
Obama UN Ambassador Nominee Supported American Invasion of Israel in 2002
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 6th at 02:14 AM |
The Institute of International Studies at UC Berkley, which has a long-running program called Conversations with History hosted by its executive director, Harry Kreisler, had a familiar face as a guest in 2002. That guest was Samantha Power. It was here that Power, who will be nominated to be our next Ambassador to the UN, endorsed an invasion of Israel to prevent future genocide. HARRY KREISLER: “Let me give you | Read More »
Excuse me, Ed Markey … You’re Misquoting The Hill Story About YOU!
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | June 3rd at 07:09 PM |
Ed Markey doesn’t read the news. It’s either that, or he’s exceptionally awful with Twitter. Today, the congressman tweeted that the Hill reported on June 1 that Gabriel Gomez, his opponent, would be ”key to Republican attempts to obstruct President Obama’s agenda.” There’s only one problem: the Hill never said that. It came from Markey’s own ad, which was the basis for the Hill ‘s story. Therefore, | Read More »
