CPAC: Folks, Mitt Romney Lost
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | March 15th at 03:01 PM |
Mitt Romney addressed CPAC this afternoon, and I did support his candidacy. After all, he was the only person in our miserable 2012 crop of candidates that had the best chance of winning. However, his communications team was mostly on defense, his high-tech GOTV ORCA program crashed rendering 30,000 volunteers helpless on Election Day, and his candidacy prohibited conservatives from talking about health care. Six Degrees of Grover Norquist
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | December 7th at 01:50 PM |
Grover Norquist is evil. Grover Norquist is an impediment to good governance. We’ve all heard the pundits detail – ad nauseum – about how the founder of Americans for Tax Reform is a pernicious force within our political discourse. However, what’s depraved about this whole episode in Norquist bashing, which I’m sure he’s thoroughly enjoying, is that it’s beginning to become part of the liberal | Read More »
Sen. Mike Lee and Senator-Elect Ted Cruz: ‘Our Ideas Work, Their Ideas Don’t’
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 17th at 03:32 AM |
Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Senator-Elect Ted Cruz (R-TX) were adamant about two things when they addressed The Federalist Society’s discussion about constitutional law and the Supreme Court yesterday: “our [conservative] ideas work, their [ liberal] ideas don’t.” Furthermore, our ideas have been winning the argument, which explains why law schools are limiting the amount of speakers – invited by Federalist Society – chapters that | Read More »

Changing Demographics Threaten Republican Texas
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 13th at 03:42 PM |
Yes, demographics talk will dominate the political discourse – and it should worry us. Immigration, as an issue, and Republican ineptitude to convey a sensible policy to ameliorate our perceived anti-immigrant leanings, ruined the Californian Republican Party forever. Furthermore, New York and Pennsylvania are, to coin a term from Senator-elect Ted Cruz, “unalterably” Democratic. Based on the last presidential election, we’re already down 104 electoral | Read More »
Romney’s Presidential Hopes Dashed By Less Than 500,000 Votes
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 13th at 12:30 AM |
Ouch! From Richard Nixon to Al Gore, candidates who have suffered defeats in close presidential elections, either in the Electoral College or popular vote, probably have felt the feelings of disappointment, shock, and frustration that Mitt Romney is experiencing right now. While President Obama secured re-election with a majority of the popular vote and an Electoral College landslide, analysis done by Jim Geraghty at National Review | Read More »
How Immigration Ruined The Californian Republican Party
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 12th at 01:41 AM |
As we on the Right continue to ponder how we got handily beaten by a president with a dismal record, one of the areas that are salient in our rebuilding efforts rests with Hispanic voters. About fifty thousand latinos turn eighteen every month, making this a key demographic Republicans must become competitive if we to survive as a political force. Losing Latinos to Democratic | Read More »
Well, Romney’s ORCA Got Harpooned
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 11th at 03:04 PM |
While many expected high Republican vote turnout, that just wasn’t the case on Nov. 6. Mitt Romney received less votes in Ohio than John McCain in 2008, and received three million less votes in the popular vote than John McCain. As Amanda Carpenter tweeted the day after the election, while many were expecting our people to show up at the polls – “no one made | Read More »
The Day After…
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 8th at 02:31 AM |
Well, we lost. Mitt Romney didn’t win comfortably. BUT, Republicans maintained control of the House of Representatives. In one of the most ignominious highlights of the night, the GOP lost two senate seats – increasing the Democratic majority by two. The current makeup is 55 Democrats to 45 Republicans. In a milestone for the ladies, 20% of the U.S. Senate will be represented by women. | Read More »

My Prediction: Romney Wins Comfortably
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 6th at 03:23 AM |
The day has arrived. In about twenty-four hours, the stains of Barack Obama will be wiped clean and honor and dignity will be restored to The White House under Governor Mitt Romney. It hasn’t been an easy road. Conservatives waged a brutal primary battle that left us with a scarred nominee – Romney – coming out of the gate to take on President Obama in | Read More »

Slate Writer: White Guys Voting for Romney ‘In Defiance of Normal Americans’
By: Matt Vespa (Diary) | November 5th at 05:01 AM |
Remember when liberals scoffed at the fact that Romney could win more than 60% of the white vote? Not only has Romney successfully tackled that hurdle, and liberals are apparently mad about it. Tom Scocca of Slate Magazine wrote on November 2 about the “tribal appeal” that Mitt Romney has with whites and why “white people think” he’ll be a better president. I’ll give | Read More »
