FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

Democrats caught flat footed

They were completely unprepared for Sarah Palin

How well did the McCain campaign fake the whole world? Here’s how well: the DNC’s page The Next Cheney which aggregated talking points against our likely VP nominees didn’t even mention Governor Palin as of this morning.

The Next Cheney is of course the page that was already known for suggesting Eric Cantor is shady because he’s Jewish.

Many of us have feared for years that John McCain would never grow to have a proper relationship with the press if he were to become our party leader. I think this whole situation is a harsh test of that theory. He played them perfectly. Nobody expected the Alaskan inquisition. Not even the Democrat opposition researchers.

Update by Jeff: A screencap of the entire “Next Cheney” home page is here.

“No matter who he chooses, help the Democratic party spread the” story that he/she/it is The Next Cheney, no matter how divorced from Reality that meme may be!!

by popping up in Bagdad to eat with the troops…

I love this…and yes…I’m in the tank for McCain/Palin now…Never thought I’d say I was in the tank for McCain on anything…but there you have it!

Great line. I’m trying to image the Monty Pyton gang in Alaska. My mind boggles. Great line

You mean they didnt think these two angles through:

    1) Sarah Palin is unqualified because she has about exactly the same amount of experience as Obama

    2) Her kids have funny names

Since McCain actually kept his word re: public financing (unlike Britney Obama), I believe Sunday, August 31 is the cut-off date for donations.

Can anyone confirm? If so, the window of opportunity is short indeed.

I’ve been out of the news cycle all day and just saw the news. I’m stunned. All guesses were leading to a safe pick by McCain.

Got to hand it to the man, he doesn’t shy away from bold and daring.

side note: the video of Palin with the troops, firing the gun. Nce.

    Great line.

And now we shall make the Dims sit in the comfy chair!

Got his last donate NOW letter a week ago. Not sure about the store.

RNC has shirts and stuff for all GOP candidates. Dazzle.com has anything you and you can design it.

But donations are limited 8/31/08 according to letter.

Who would of thought – a good looking, smart, strong, maverick / lives her beliefs. She has a huge draw with the lunchpail crowd, HRC camp, while being a great pick for conservatives

  • Bluestatebastard

McCain is a stubborn guy with his own ideas of how to do things. He isn’t going to be like W and have someone living at the Naval Observatory who seems to be running the show from behind the scenes.

that Thanksgiving Day SURPRISE was the kind of thing that makes your heart beat 10X more and takes your breath away. The Patriotism in that moment I don’t think could be matched by ANYTHING in politics.

  • Shaggy_DA

that Obama “hit it out of the park” with his VP pick of Biden.

McCain hit it ’round the world. In fact, that shot may never stop carrying.

    Deer in the headlights
    Tone deaf
    Alienates more women
Yet again highlights his and his campaign’s inexperience.

Funny, but just last week my mentality was that people like you and me and BlackRepub were going to go through this supporting true conservatives downticket and maybe a little on the Anti-Obama track.

Like you, I am today now in the tank for McCain/Palin. It was a great move. Palin’s likeability factor is off the charts, so when the undecideds look at both pairs, one seems mean, nasty, and ugly, and the Republican side doesn’t.

    Some “rapid response team.”

  • aceintx

the surprise was stunning for me…and solidified my support for McCain after being ready to walk away in disgust over all the Lieberman talk.

  • The_Rebel

    Not even redstate. :-)

I think we can all write that punch line about who would hit what.

  • streiff

    at the Naval Observatory.

Nice Cheney-runs-the-government talking point. Don’t do it again.

  • dougw

If something does happen to McCain (heaven forbid) in office, is the mother of 5, including a 4 month old with down’s syndrome fit to run the country? Careful — we’ll end up with Pelosi! There is some good debate that could use a conservative slant over at Floort.

If I wanted to debate with Netrooters… well… I’d probably need medication for migraines and high blood pressure.

    1. We’ve got a mom with an infant who has Downs. She has a committed husband who is a major caregiver to their children now. As POTUS she would have virtually unlimited help with the child.

    2. With Obama, we’ve got an empty suit who hasn’t had an original thought in 48 years. No executive experience. No foreign policy experience. Basically a Marxist economic policy. A guy who can’t do rational thought if it’s not on a teleprompter.

    Uh Alex… I’ll take door #1.

  • David_Hinz

his website is populated by third graders

  • rjd27

I wonder if Obama reads everything that scrolls across the teleprompter?
