AOL Open Thread

Did you know that last night we were getting more traffic at once than we ever had before?  Ben Domenech was linked on the front page of AOL.com, and we were getting crazy numbers of hits for us.

And yet we were still able to get in and comment quite a bit.  This is before we were able to implement any kind of caching at all yet.

Once that caching is in we probably won’t even notice these traffic spikes.  How about a cheer for WordPressµ?

I wondered what the problem was because I couldn’t get in at all until this morning.

Beyond that, a great big Thank You! to you for all the hard work you’ve done since RedState 2.0 to make this site usable. “Thanks” doesn’t really cover it, given all the problems you’ve had to deal with, but that’s what you’re gettin’ anyway. :-)

    Maybe I missed it.

Anyways id like to point this out*:
‘Mr Madoff ran the scheme separately from his main business and his sons had no involvement in it.’

Are we expected to believe this? How stupid do they think we are?

Anyways for those who dont know Madoff is an old boy trader (my father told me he had to pay a huge fine decades ago for fixing markets), aka a crook, who promised annual returns of 10% on moneys invested. Turns out he was running a giant fraud and was paying out with the new money invested. A big Ponzi scheme. The part of the story that im sure is a lie is that his two sons turned him in when they learned about it on Wednesday. Im sure they did turn him in, but Im positive they didnt learn about this scheme on Wednesday, as they had been working for pops for about 20 years.

They are 80% owned by Cerberus Capital Management which has more than enough money to bridge the bankrupt automaker into better economic times.

As Newt said, the talent gap between those ripping us off, and those representing us, is so huge that the tax payer has no chance.

I wondered why I could not get on the site at all for at least 3 hours

Watching Fox, nothing at all that I’ve seen on the big rip-off. Sarah’s church and the bomb in Oregon.

    Maybe we’re numb after $750Bn?

The government is arranging for a taxpayer financed bailout.

Which I think is an overly optimistic take on the current state of affairs. But there is certainly a talent gap between our crooks and their crooks.
