    I wouldn’t be surprised if there are already some of ‘em waiting at the gates for Rahm “The Gate-Keeper” Emanuel to grant an audience.

    The Exalted One hasn’t the slightest idea what he and his Socialistic peeps are in for from their own side. The moonbats put the new administration in charge and now it’s payback time…… from minute one. I’d even bet there are rallies at the inauguration, people shouting for their mooniest of battiest causes.

    he wants to wait and see what the Feds will do for Tn before he figures out what programs/jobs have to be cut. Tn had a surplus of cast just a couple of years ago, then Bredesen and his big-spending buddies in the TN House passed all sorts of hand out programs that they can no longer fund. Rather than cut those programs—pre-K being a prime example—he wants to hang on to everything and let the Feds bail his bad decisions out.

    Hey Neil, I just wanted to let you know that, on some occasions loading the main page in Firefox (on a Mac), the ad(s) in the middle column will sometimes instead appear (behind) the righthand-most column (in other words, basically *behind* Member Diaries list).

    It doesn’t seem to happen all the time (for example, it’s not happening right now with the 2Insure4Less.com ad that I see). But it has happened on and off a bit since RS 4.0 debuted.

    the Democratic Republic of Michigan, our gov has said she’s “sure” that the Obamunist will certainly come to our aid, to the tune of a couple of Billion… She doesn’t want to have to cut any of the social programs the dems have set up, so no cuts, except for Corrections and the State Police, you know, non-essential programs… Fox News said tonight that there were already four states who’ve said it was “absolutely essential” that the feds bail them out.

    I am expecting a huge chunk of it to go to direct payments to states. Most of it earmarked for particular things, but it is easy enough to shift money around and use it to keep the public sector unions happy.

    That is when my soul wept. There are no words to describe how bad that is. I felt that all the way to my toes on how wrong it is saying.

    If the left thinks they have won against the right. Just wait until the Muslim Right gets going. Everything the left stand for Muslims hate and will kill to prove their hate. I would love to see a Anti-Prop 8 rally against a Pro-Palestine, Anti-Israel rally. There are no gay Muslims so having gay marriage under Islam will not work.

    It may come down to the enemy(Islam) of my enemy(left) is my enemy too, let just hope that the left realize that Islam is a enemy and not just a misunderstood friend that kills people

    For pretty much the entire Christmas holidays, the majority of the Recommended Diaries have been by…people with front page privleges. As I write this, 7 of 10 RecoDiaries are by RS Contributors.

    How much longer will this go on?

    You ask us to write long, thoughtful diaries. Well then….give us a fighting chance to see our efforts rewarded with a RecoDiaries slot (and the added exposure that comes with that).

    IMO it’s a bit much to expect people to write long, thoughtful and well-researched diaries IF the writers suspect that their work will most likely be seen only by the onduty RS monitor and the committed faithful who go through all the Member Diaries.

    I’d hate to see Redstate become a place solely for (a) Contributors and (b) people bidding to be Contributors.

    You don’t have to keep posting to check your work – if it works, your posts will all be changed site-wide.

    Go into your signature source, delete the double quotes, and reinsert them. The copy/paste process is breaking the quotes and replacing them with ones that look normal but that the server can’t interpret.

    (With a bit hat tip to bs) If you are copying and pasting the code from the thread that Erick posted, you are going to have to go in and retype all of the ” marks. For some reason they are pasting as the backwards ” marks. Do that and all will be good.

    It’s a known issue. I believe Neil has other priorities that he’s working on. He can speak for himself.

    I had figured out that the sigs were dynamic after my 3rd posting (I’m a little slow, but eventually I notice things).

    I NEVER would have noticed the changing quote marks. Thanks for that.

    Also, it looks like the date changed on the href to Ercik’s post. I kept getting not found on http://www.redstate.com/erick/2009/01/01/redstate-in-2009/

    Then I got sick.

    Rec list is in the top few priorities when I get back on track this month.

    Perhaps I erred in using the word “contributor.” What I meant to say, was that—from what I could see—-the majority of the writers in RecoDiaries can also post on the front page and in Redhot.

    So, until the RecoDiaries problem is fixed, how about front pagers leaving the RecoDiaries section to the rest of us?

    neither MK or mbecker908 are “contributors,” meaning they can post their own diaries direct to the FP without intervention from a moderator. 908 has “Redhot privileges”, but that doesn’t mean he can post direct to the FP (“contributors” can do both) I’m sure both have had diaries promoted in the past…I think 908 has had several in recent weeks… but those are done by the moderators, not themselves.

    Then there are moderators, like Neil, Erick, Leon, etc. who can modify diaries (for fixes, cleanup of trolls, etc.) and who can promote diaries to the FP. In addition, they can ban troublemakers.

    speaking of conferences and divisions and wild cards (and tie breakers!).

    I watch maybe 8 college games a year (the major bowls plus a few more). I don’t understand the BCS and polls to decided a Champion. Unlike Utah, New England played the Chargers and lost to them. They also lost to playoff teams Pitt, Indy, and Miami. NE sits with 5 more losses than Utah and they both played a cupcake schedule. They got to beat up on Appalachian State KC, SF, Denver, StL, Seattle and oakland (sic). If you plug the Pats into the BCS, they’re not invited to a major bowl. In the NFL, you go undefeated, you win the whole thing. It’s not like the Pats went 16-0 and were shut out of the playoffs.

    BTW I love that the Patsies missed the playoffs, couldn’t happen to a nicer team.

    1) Ask those with front page privleges to NOT post diaries, until the problems are fixed.
    2) If there are people abusing the RecoDiaries process, then I’d argue that they’re making Redstate a less appealing place for the rest of us. Perhaps you could send them a cease-and-desist warning.

    The basic problem right now is that the recommended diaries plugin wasn’t written correctly. It needs rewritten.

    But I took a two week break to close out the year, after a year straight of working on RS 3 and 4. Then I got sick.

    I take one break and everyone gets desperate :-)

    It’s that OLD diaries aren’t coming off. This has been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere on the site.
