Software Update Open Thread [Updated]

Last night I pushed in a batch of changes to Red State. The most notable one is the partial rewrite of the Recommended Diaries feature, including assistance from regular reader George Claghorn. Let’s all recognize and thank him for his help in this.

Expect the Rec ist to change in the coming days as the old recs flush out of the system.

Open thread.

[Update]: Sadly, a last minute fix I had to put in to keep the site from locking up due to some index-less queries and some constantly-recalculated strings, needed fixed. I was overzealous in my escaping, oops. So no recommends were working since last night when I pushed the changes. It’s fixed now though.

Well, NightTwister, I don’t know if I beat your record or not, but it looks like the demise of the “we support Israel stomping the life out of Hamas” is at hand.

    :)

But at least yours actually had some content, rather than just a YouTube video.

And to you also, Neil. I didn’t have the expertise to help, otherwise I would’ve lent a hand.

…assuming it isn’t already there, the addition of a field on the profile for our Twitter IDs?

With the popularity of the #tcot tag for Top Conservatives on Twitter, it would be great if we could share our IDs.

Pretty much a “me too” roll call that, due to its nature, was bound to generate a ton of recos. Having one of the Fredhead diaries up there for three weeks would have been

    SWEET!!!!

I am so wonderfully relieved by this. I hope Johnny Whats-his-name in Texas has an exploding head right about now. Matter of fact, I hope George Bush contacted him personally to give him the news.

My thoughts are with the families of these two men and how awful this has been for them. What a blessing! Thank you, President Bush!

“WASHINGTON (CNN) ? On his final full day in office, President George W. Bush issued commutations for two former border patrol agents convicted in 2006 of shooting an illegal alien who was smuggling drugs at the time.

The prison sentence of Ignacio Ramos and Joe Campion will now end on March 20. ”

Not quite the same as a pardon, but at the end of the day a good outcome and they get to go home to their families which is great.

I’m going to personally recommend that we double your wages to make up for all the time we have stolen from your lives. :)

    Seriously, thanks guys.

Yes, you read that right. PEBHO has decided that he has America’s best interests at heart after all. Or maybe he just feels really bad for picking Joe Biden as his #2.

But now, he has chosen Robert Gates to be the safe man during the inauguration. In other words, if someone manages to bomb the ceremony and kills them all, we get Gates as President.

Not that I expect it to happen, and I’m sure BO doesn’t either, but doesn’t it at least show that he cares whether or not we get a wandering buffoon as the new President in the event of a disaster. (What’s that you say? What about Biden? Well….better late than never.) After all, he could have picked Pelosi.

No internet forum should be without one, especially when some of us have limited html skillz.

I’ve been missing having a functioning Recommended Diaries list for a while now. Kudos to getting it fixed.

Any chance of getting back the NEW! flag on new comments any time soon? That’s something that I’ve been missing since Redstate 1 days…..

    and raise you a SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

It was nice to have “Right to life” vs “License to kill” be featured on Red State for so long. I thought that was an important article.

Is it just me, or is the “Recommend” button not working?

  • http://www.theminorityreportblog.com/ Brian Simpson

Neil has said before that it is unlikely. Something about site being too popular and servers whining like little babies at the thought.

    Something like that at least.

Too inefficient. It was only possible before because RS was so tiny.

I can probably offer a little help from time to time. It’s more of my day job of staring at a computer, so I’m trying to be careful not to over-offer or under-deliver, but I can probably throw some time at things occasionally over weekends, perhaps.
