Barbara Boxer: Unequipped for the job of Senator

Nobody in Washington trusts her to do the job

Barbara Boxer might have a reason to feel touchy about her title of Senator, it seems. Not only is she facing a determined, conservative challenger in Chuck DeVore, but even her own caucusmates don’t think she’s equipped for the job.

In short, they think she’ll botch any job she’s given the responsibility for, so they’re taking responsibilities away from her.

Says Politico:

In private conversations, Senate staffers say that Boxer’s abrasive personal style helped tank the climate bill that Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and former Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) sponsored last year. And several recent embarrassing episodes involving the California Democrat have them worried about a repeat performance.

….This time around, Democratic leaders have spread Boxer’s workload among six committee chairmen.

“I don’t think anyone is going to let her take the ball this year,” said one staffer at an environmental group. “Not after last year.”

Politico may be relying on anonymous sources, but the roles of committees in the production of bills are a matter of public record. Boxer simply isn’t trusted by Democrats, nor should she be by Californians. She’s just not up to the task, and it’s time to vote accordingly.

Let’s help Chuck DeVore chuck Boxer out of a job she can’t handle.

in California, and the possibility dawning on some of the electorate that maybe insane liberalism is not the answer to life’s vicissitudes, this may be an opportune time for an attractive Republican candidate.

If so Boxer may in the future have time to squat in her rocking chair on the front porch, her mind wandering while insisting the mail man address her as Senator.

and I just joined up as an eLeader for his campaign. I suspect he won’t get much support from the NRSC unless we can show he has a serious chance, would that be fair to say? I’ve never done this before. I really believe the time is about as good as it’s going to get here in CA for a shift in political change.

I’d like to believe it, but I’ve been burned too many times before.

    Guess we’ll see…

(But if Boxer did go down, that would be a huge and significant sign for both CA, and the country.)

Boxer is moron, I’ve voted against her every time I’ve had the chance. I like Devore, I’ve heard him on Hugh’s show, I just pray that the people in this state will wake up and not just vote for her because of the “D” or because they think they’re voting for a fighter.

Boxer’s an embarrassment. But these Democrats still want her reliable vote. So they’re asking her to play down global warming. There’s good reason to believe they’ve seen some polling suggesting potential for a backlash against a carbon tax.

Republicans have to use the right frame. We have an obligation to be stewards of the planet. Just like in Cub Scouts, we were taught to leave a campsite better than we found it. It’s common sense. Doesn’t mean you spend an week at the campsite trying the correct the pH balance of the soil.

We lose by arguing against a “clean” planet.

We win by highlighting the cost of a “clean” planet.

This is the same woman who asserted a baby is not a “person” protected under the law until the mother takes the baby home from the hospital. Makes you wonder what she thinks of those of the younger persuasion in the maternity ward.

Haven’t you heard? CA residents all smoke an oz of marijuana every month! They’re too stoned to know who or what they’re voting for!

This is no more productive than Obama’s bitter clingers comment.
