Good question

No crystal ball here, but given the way things are going at present, it will likely be Santorum. I don’t think Santorum is ready for prime time, but when you go into battle, you have to go with the military you have and tough it out if it isn’t exactly what’s required. I hope that I am wrong and Newt somehow pulls his campaign out of the mud, but it’s a long shot, I think.

–John Adams

I really hope you're right

I’ve never liked Romney, and I’m not particularly a Newt fan either. I believe Santorum is our best shot at beating Obama– because what if the economy is drastically better by October (which I doubt, but still)? What does Romney have to use against Obama if the economy has improved? That goes even further if ObamaCare is ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS in June. Romney has almost nothing left to say and/or use against Obama.
So personally, I think Santorum is our best chance :)

Romney didn't have a leg to stand on challenging O-care anyway, Bethany

If the law is ruled unconstitutional…amen and hallelujah! I’ll be fist-pumping and doing the funky-dance for months. But this issue would become moot for any of our candidates that point.

We still have plenty to work with…like the loss of approximately six million jobs since Obama was elected, the soaring prices of [insert your favorite here], and the points of O-care that will lead to increases in taxes to cover the costs…points that won’t be rolled back just because O-care is ruled unconstitutional or repealed.

We’ll have to see how it goes, but Santorum has been like a bloodhound…once he gets his nose to the scent of a particular social issue, he just doesn’t seem to let go of it. That’s not totally a bad thing, but we do need a more balanced emphasis between the social and economic in order to win in Nov. Whether Santorum can succeed in presenting that balance remains to be seen.

Romney...

not my candidate choice, but I think he’s going to win the nomination.

BTW- your poll seems to have been overtaken by Paulbots. :)

I noticed

:) Nothing I can do about it now, and I put up a few words on my blog asking for it to stop (needless to say, it didn’t do much good). I’m tempted to leave him off the poll next time! :)

Change it to who will lose… poor RonPaulSpecialEdBots will have no clue what to do then ;)

Insult meant in fullness. If you vote Ron Paul you must be missing half a brain.

In face Bethany could even change the poll to “Who’s the biggest Loser?”

Done :)

I’ll change it back in the morning, but I love this idea! :)

Newt

I think Newt will be the nominee. Santorum simply does NOT have the needed experience. We already have one of those in the WH.

I'm honestly curious about this

Bethany (Diary) Sunday, February 26th at 6:25PM EDT (link)

With all due respect, how is it that Newt has more experience than Santorum? Newt was a Congressman; he then became Speaker, but that’s still a Congressional position. Santorum, on the other hand, was in the House as well, then went on to the Senate; giving him a higher “position” than Newt, since the Senate is above the House. I’m curious about how Santorum is viewed as having less experience than Newt does. I know that as Speaker one is presiding over the House, but like I said, his position was still that of Congressman.
