MEMBER DIARY

Game On

Senator Rick Santorum has suspended his Presidential campaign.  His reasons were not specifically stated, but it is clear that his family was a large part of his decision.  With little Bella just coming home from the hospital last night and still having pneumonia, it’s obvious that his family needs him right now.  I have to admire his decision to put his family above politics, but part of me is heartbroken over his departure from the race.  I’ve been supporting him wholeheartedly since the beginning of the year when Governor Perry exited the race, and I’m not ashamed to say I wish I had been supporting the Senator all along.

Senator Santorum embodied the values and principles that thousands of Americans have been trying to convey.  He had a passion for this country that was evident every time he spoke.  As a teenager and homeschooled student, I found in Senator Santorum someone who I truly believed would lead this country in the direction it needed to be headed.  My future would be adequately looked after and protected under a Santorum administration.  His dedication to defending the unborn was one of the biggest character traits that drew me to the Senator, and after that his thoughts and positions on other issues made me support him even more.

Many people, maybe even the White House, will be saying “game over” now that he is out of the race– the Senator said this in his speech this afternoon.  However, “this game is a long, long way from over.”  This is just the beginning.  We’ve barely begun the game; “game on” is still the appropriate thought.  Senator Santorum isn’t going to disappear as many people will wish; instead he will continue to fight for the values he has been defending and advocating since his entry to the race three hundred nine days ago.  Is a Romney/Santorum ticket in the future?  It doesn’t seem likely, but I can only hope so.

if i was a paulbot i would set up fake accounts and give it several recommendations but since i only have one account i am thrilled to recommend this. : )

romney already has the moderate support, and santorum has shown he can deliver votes.

I’ve had my blog taken over by paulbots before, so even though I’d love more recommendations, I appreciate your not doing that! :) I’m really hoping for Romney/Santorum. I agree that it makes sense but I’m more inclined to believe that Romney will go with the likes of Rob Portman or Chris Christie. I don’t like that idea but sadly, most Presidential campaigns don’t take advice from teenagers :)

and very game we are, to game on … I wrote along those lines yesterday and the similarity to Reagan’s loss in 1976, where the loss was but prologue to his followers and he continuing onward: http://www.redstate.com/hanoverhenry/2012/04/11/should-romney-appeal-to-santorum-voters-or-copy-ford-1976-strategy-vs-reagan/

    It’s tacky.

While you raise a valid point here and there – your ongoing hagiography of Santorum is not helpful.

I remember one of the Marys breaking her perfume bottle, I remember someone washing feet with her hair, but boot-licking … not so much.

    Could you cite it, please?

    Now THAT is sad.

In the beginning, Al Gore created the internets. Now, the internets were formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the web browser, and the IT staff was hovering over the monitor.

And Al Gore said, “Let there be the vilest hardcore pornography”, and it was so. Al saw that it was good, and bookmarked it for later [editor's note: 0_0!!!!!! ].

On the second day, Al said, “Let there be time-wasting websites that diminish worker productivity!” And Al saw that it was good.

Then Al said, “Let the internet produce forums that multiply according to their kinds: the ROFLers, the griefers, and the creatures that move along the ground (*somethingawful.com*), all according to their kind.” And he saw that it was good.

Then Al said, “Let us make campaign and advocacy websites in our likeness, that they may rule over the internets.”

Yet the campaign websites were lonely and bereft of companionship. Al saw this, and said, “It is not good for the campaign website to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for it.” So while the internet was down, Al took the worst and most braindead parts of the internet. From this, he fashioned the Howard Dean internet troll. All other insane candidate supporters emerged in like manner.

That is why a campaign website leaves its PAC’s support team, and joins itself with the political bootlicker.

Deciding whether the all-in Romney supporters, or the all-in Santorum supporters, are sadder is an exercise in mental masochism.
