Looking forward to this year’s RedState Gathering.  It’s like a final hurrah for our family, as our eldest is leaving the next week to attend grad school in New Year.  Bittersweet joy.

    I’m glad that you’re excited about the Redstate gathering, but this “diary” just knocked a real diary off the list. You should have posted this comment to one od the event listings. Or kept it to yourself.

    Most people put time, thought and effort into their diaries and don’t deserved to have them moved down the list by this type of thing.

    Shame.

    understand the basics. This is really one of my pet peeves.

    Morning Briefing is an open thread every day for comments such as these.

    Also, as you said, when you post a comment as a diary you knock off another diary, most of which are substantive posts that took time and effort. Sigh.

    Obis Sister, if you see this, it’s nothing personal. I went to RSG03 last year and had a blast. I hope you have as much fun and learn as much as I did.

    since as a newbie, there is no way of knowing that the Morning Brief is an open thread. Thanks to regulars telling me, I just learned about two months ago or less after being here for at least 6 months.

    Perhaps under the title, Erick could state, “use this as an open thead”. Also, the rules don’t state how long a diary must be…you live and learn.

    I’m not disagreeing with your comments or Vegas_Rick’s but perhaps this poster is new and doesn’t know the unsaid rules.
