Britain Whines: “It’s All About Me!”

I don’t want much from the Federal government. In fact, I want a lot less from it than they’re usually trying to provide. One thing I do expect, though, is for the Federal government to provide me with a reasonably safe haven from dangers of the world outside our borders. In my opinion, a government that fails to provide domestic security for its citizens has failed in one of its major responsibilities.

This article, published today in the London Daily News is noteworthy in its disregard for that basic function of government as well as its egocentrism.

What Israel is doing is nothing to do with peace but its own selfish security concerns

With many nations in the world with large Muslim/Arab communities anything in the Middle East that involves the murder of women and children and Israel will immediately light a fuse of revulsion and protest.

In London the mainstream media have been warned to avoid the subject in phone-in’s to avoid escalating tensions, but that is unrealistic.  What Israel has done again, is look at its own security concerns and forget that of other nations like ours.

4000 known active Islamic terrorists operate in the UK, what more of an excuse do they need now to carry out a heinous act on people who are not from Israel?

Our Government condemned the violence but has done nothing to censure Israel.  The Americans have stayed quiet, whilst only France and the UN have worded strong objections to the perceived over-reaction of the IDF.

Israeli leaders need to stop thinking about elections and consider that the security threat posed by Islamic groups was high, with the tension in the Middle East escalating we are in a new zone now.

Let’s all be vigilant and be responsible.

Try for a moment to ignore the glaring grammatical issues with the headline and take a closer look at that second paragraph. It is evidently unrealistic to expect British journalists to refrain from discussing Israel’s current military operations in order to keep British citizens safe, but quite all right to expect Israeli citizens to endure rocket bombardment to achieve the same end. God forbid that journalists show a little discretion! Better that Israelis die!

Selfish, indeed! The presumption that Israel should place the security concerns of Britain above the safety of her own citizens is staggering. I’m rarely speechless (you can ask my husband) but I actually found myself without words today when trying to discuss this with an acquaintance.

Had I ever given it any thought, I would have assumed the British were responsible for their own national security, but apparently I would be wrong. British national security is actually the responsibility of the Israelis! Who knew! Perhaps this explains why Britain is the home to “4,000 known active Islamic terrorists.”

After all, the Israelis have been pretty busy on the home front and it’s hard to be in two places at once, but after they finish up with Gaza, I’m betting that London will be their first stop. I’m sure the British could handle the terrorists themselves, but what, with setting up Sharia courts and otherwise pandering to Muslim extremists, gosh! It’s just so hard to fit it all into the day!

The jackass who wrote this opinion piece – if you check it out at this link, you’ll see that no one wanted to sign it – should be forced to live in one of the Israeli settlements on the Gaza frontier to see how he (she?) likes the constant threat of death falling from the sky. “Yes, I’d like reservations for dinner…What? the bomb shelter section is full?”

During the dark days of World War II, Winston Churchill exhorted the British people, “Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’” Perhaps that it was their finest hour; Britain, which stoically endured the London blitz, is now content to buy their own peace with the lives of Israeli citizens. Churchill weeps.

    If the rain of rockets were to return to Great Britain, the idiot writer of that trash would feel somewhat “different”?

    Ended it by saying we should try getting France to lob a few rockets across the channel and see how that played out, but I opted for Churchill instead.

    and many of those folks are British, too (that is, they hold British citizenship).

    Travel to London and get outside of the tourist areas along the Thames, and it will floor you. Last year I had to travel to the NW part of London, from Westminster up to where the A1 commences. I went by cab, and lemme tell you, it was an education.

    Oh, the buildings looked like Jolly Ole England, The buses and taxis were English. But the signs were all in Arabic; the people were dressed like Islamabad; and there were mosques everywhere but nary a pub in sight.

    It was downright frightening. I knew there was a growing Muslim minority in England; I just didn’t realize how big it is. The last census showed the group at about 3% of the population, but that was in 2001. Some estimate that growth has exceeded 80% since then — immigration and high birth rates.

    Muslims are now the third-largest religious group in the country, according to the Central Statistics Office, behind Protestants and Catholics. But they are projected to outstrip the Christian sects combined by 2050; one thing I’ve read estimates that by 2035, there will be more Mosque-goers than Christian church-goers in England. By 2050, if current trends continue, there will be three times the number of active Muslims in Britain than active, church-going Christians. THREE times.

    Just last February, even the Archbishop of Canterbury has said it may be unavoidable there.

    40% of English Muslims live in London (over 8.5% of the London population), with one borough being over 35% Muslim.

    If this keeps up, the Queen will be wearing a burqa instead of dowdy hats and suits. Her usual accessories of gloves and the ubiquitous purse will no longer be necessary.

    It’s even worse in some other European countries, such as France and The Netherlands, which are neck and neck to see which will be the first Muslim country in Western Europe.

    But to call the Israelis selfish for considering her own needs over Britain’s and imply they should simply accept daily rocket bombardment for the sake of Britain is unacceptable, don’t you think?

    The Brits have made their own problems, primarily by allowing their former “colonials”, as they call them, to move in with little restraint. What started as a way to bolster the sagging British economy turned into a wholesale invasion from Pakistan, et al.

    So nowadays, if you go to Calais around the mouth of the Chunnel, there is a huge homeless problem. The place is overrun with Muslim youths trying to hitch a ride (i.e., stowaway) thru the Chunnel to England. They come from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The French just love it, too.

    I guess we aren’t the only ones with a leaky border.

    The Brits have been making a way of life out of hiding under the bed. If they spoke up and restored their right to carry firearms and use them in self-defense the jihadist imperialists might think about packing it in and moving back to Pakistan.

    It fits right in with the BBC’s “Alternative Christmas message” delivered by none other than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. One doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry that it made their headlines that some were “offended” by it.

    Ahmadinejad’s message was meant, supposedly, to educate the British public about Islam, etc. etc. It was a counterpoint to the Queen’s traditional Christmas message, an annual event.

    The thought appears to be that there are so many Muslims in Britain that the policy must be one of understanding, appeasement, and assimilation.

    But it ain’t gonna happen. The Britain of Shakespeare and Yeats, of Churchill and Thomas More, even of Henry the Eighth, is all but gone. While bucolic gardeners having their daily pint at the local pub may still be found in small towns, the cities are fast ceding ownership to large immigrant populations that are not friendly to traditional western values.

    Muslims will not assimilate into Western civilization. That isn’t their intent or goal. They want to change it, even if it means destroying it.

    Again, though, this isn’t just England — it’s spreading across Europe like wildfire. In 2007. the Pope restored the Vatican’s Council for Interreligious Dialogue, which he had downgraded early in his tenure. The reason? Tensions between the Catholic Church and world Muslims, primarily stemming from Benedict XVI’s remarks in early 2006 that caused a furor in the Muslim world.

    In France, there is even fear that the treasures of The Louvre could be at risk as the Muslim population there climbs. Muslims have little respect for Western art, much of which they consider blasphemous. Destroying it wouldn’t bother them; in fact, many of them believe such acts would be blessed by Allah.

    So why should American’s care? Because radical Islam, IMHO, represents the Number One threat to our way of life. So while Europeans may feel they have no choice but to appease, we still have one.

    Appeasement didn’t work with the Nazis. It didn’t work with the Soviets. And it isn’t going to work with Islam, either.
